What a great store with very good prices. Quality in used records was top notch. Will definitely visit again when we are in the area.

This evening [Sunday 08-02] Joshua Hunt and I Lisa Diane Boyce-Vanoy took Deacon to Barnes & Noble…read moreBookstore...it was his first trip ever!! At age 9, and yes I felt guilty that I never took him before! He was immediately enthralled with it. I explained to him that this store and Books-a-Million was always a weekly trip for his daddy and Aunt Nay-Nay Noel Lori-Elizabeth Teel growing up!! It was always one of their favorite stores to shop! He took my hand as we entered because he didn't know what to expect. When we went in, he whispered "Maw Maw, is this a Library?" I said " No Baby, we can buy these books not borrow them!" He said "Do I have to be Quiet here, like the Library?" I said "No Sweetir, you can talk and laugh like Normal"...he said "I Love it".. We looked at all the books and stuffies (he loves them both) he had me take pics of everything he wants for his upcoming Birthday in October and Christmas !! I'm gonna have Kayla Beth Fields put some of these items on his wishlist and even gift cards here would be a great gift for him!! Deacon loves to read! He loves Diary of a Whimpy Kid Series, Dogman Series, Captain Underpants Series and DORK Series! Plus any stuffie related to them. He got on the storyline stage and played with the puppets. He put on his own very short puppet show. I would like to take him and Calliope some saturday at 2pm for a puppet show! He picked out a book for himself, one for Calliope and one for Saige! He left with a big smile wants to go back again (which I highly encourage) and can't wait to show his mommy Kayla the wonderful new store maw maw took him too!!

As far as Barnes & Noble Booksellers go, it's pretty much your run of the mill location,…read moretruthfully. The bonus side to this location is that they have plenty of staff working around the location to make sure you're getting what you need or assisting you when you can't find that book you were looking for. This location has a coffee shop located on the right-hand side of the bookstore and has a few tables for you to sit and hopefully not read the entire book before putting it back on the shelf... Anyway, the café was clean. I did try to go over there but the line was long and not moving fast and I was feeling impatient so I decided not to get anything. In the back of the store is where you'll find your movies, cds, and vinyl. I was pretty impressed with the selection of new vinyl they had in the store. I'm always shocked though at the prices of their DVD's and CD's knowing how cheaply they can be purchased elsewhere. The rest of the store was neatly organized in the traditional B&N fashion. Everything listed at the top of the bookshelves making it easy for you to find what you were looking for or maybe you'll stumble upon a book you never knew you needed. Either way, this location will suit you just fine.

Jerry's Records made me fall in love with my record player. I couldn't have asked for a better…read morestore to help me build my collection. I can always find something I'm interested in for $10 or less. Jerry's is a third place to me. It's a must visit every time I'm back in Pittsburgh! Jerry's is estimated to have over 500,000 records. Here's what I've learned from my two years in Pittsburgh to help sort through the collection: 1. Best sellers are located upfront. Normally there's a few of each artist: The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Rush, Aerosmith, and many more. Price range between $20-60 2. For people starting out, Jerry's has a lot of well known albums and artists for $7-8 a record. Common finds: Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Santana, REO Speedwagon, Jefferson Starship/Jefferson Airplane, Elton John, STYX, and Chicago. 3. Huge Christmas selection in the $3-20 range. They likely have what you're looking for. My boyfriend's mom was looking for Christmas with Mitch for many years. She found 8 copies at Jerry's Records in less than 15 minutes. 4. There's a large Broadway and musical soundtrack section tucked in the corner down the first hallway on the right. Normally they are about $5-15. 5. Before checking out, look at the record and sleeve for damages. From experience, most priced above $7 play really well. They may have a few crackles, but a quick wash takes most of that away. Things in the $3 range are risky.

This record store is gigantic and maybe my favorite thing is that there are a couple of different…read moredivided rooms, and different music was playing in the main room (which includes rock/pop, alternative, and folk alongside all of their bestsellers) and then if you venture off into the well-stocked jazz room -- through a small corridor, you are greeted by a whole new acoustic vibe. The records here for the most part seem to be vintage. I didn't find a number of things I was looking for -- perhaps they were too new to be found here or a little obscure. But, I did notice that they have a very large collection of musicals and film soundtracks (the former of which I am a major fan). The rows and rows of what I think is their back stock not in the main center of the store are also a sight to behold. There are also a lot of hodgepodge bins at the front of the newest and "hottest" arrivals, as well as employee picks. I'm sure I'll be back here again. There must be 50K records in here. It is a bit overwhelming. Also, I will lastly say that the prices for the majority of items I saw while perusing are rather affordable and reasonable.

He realized we were coming in and jumped up to turn the lights on and get set up and put on music (which was uncomfortably loud, my friend couldn't hear what I was saying). He didn't really know a lot about the records when we asked him about a few. We dug through some of the records and there was a lot of rock & roll. A lot. There was a section purely for Elvis. There was a deeply neglected hip-hop section, and an even emptier electronic and jazz section. the prices were okay, but the labeling for the pressings have a tendency to be wrong, so make sure you don't get spoofed.

No bullshit on terre haute pressings or other specific pressings. Its definitely the real deal. I found some strange albums there. Downfall would be, access to the place. It's kinda hidden. Customer service blows! And you have to pay for parking. Enjoy!
