Decided to stop by here after we walked past an ice cream truck and thought, "we can get better elsewhere." The shop itself was small, but the menu was quite the opposite. They have sundaes, milkshakes and even cakes. Despite that, I still get it was missing variety. For instance, there were about 3 chocolate flavors, but they all looked similar. There are toppings but something about a premade, well crafted and unique flavor that really makes an ice cream shop stand out.
I stopped in at the Ice Cream House. I was able to get a chocolate chip dairy free cup and my wife got a vanilla soft serve with a gluten free cone. It was delicious! I would recommend it!!
We were visiting and the kids wanted ice cream so we headed over after dinner. They had a decent amount of people coming and going at regular intervals. There's ample street parking and the store itself is small with a handful of tables that seat two inside with more outdoor seating via picnic tables. There were two people inside and they were really nice and helpful. It took me a while to figure out what to get - their menu is extensive and they also have off menu items - to the point I was getting impatient with myself, haha. (I was trying to get my husband to decide on something but he just "didn't care.") They serve a lot of what you might find at a boardwalk, which is ironic because we were at one just the day before. Ultimately, I got two kiddie cups with vanilla and chocolate soft serve for my kids. For my husband and I to share, I got us an off menu green tea with strawberry syrup milkshake the recommendation of the lady helping me. It all came out to be around $16, so not bad. I tried some of the vanilla soft serve and it was creamy and not too sweet. The milkshake was on the subtle side until I got halfway down and the amalgamation of matcha and strawberry - which didn't taste artificial - was more apparent. I liked it a lot! It wasn't mixed perfectly because I'd encounter the occasional tiny pocket of powdered matcha, but I didn't mind at all. I didn't find it too sweet either. Yay! I'm not sure if it would be the same if I got another flavor combination milkshake but this was a winner. Some notes: all their scoopable ice creams are egg-free EXCEPT for birthday cake... because of the birthday cake. Also, they don't have a restroom on site but we were pointed in the direction of the coffee house across the street, with whom they have a partnership with. The coffee shop was supposed to be closed but, luckily, a community meeting was being held there so it was open for longer. My youngest is allergic to wheat, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, avocado, pineapple, and kiwi and the soft serve was perfect for him. No issues at all. He usually goes for scoopable ice cream so I'm glad he finally thinks soft serve options are okay. A great place to visit for a treat and they have something for everyone! They also have non-dairy [they use oat milk], gluten free, and/or sugar free options... with how she's said all their ice creams are egg-free, I'd say the dairy-free ones should be vegan-friendly.
Came to this place on a week day night, maybe a little over an hour before closing. I saw it on an instagram ad/reel. We met a very lively young lady who was very informative, attentive, and patient. I got the Sunday with 4 scoops of ice cream and just whip cream. I got the banana pudding ice cream, a blue ice cream, strawberry cheesecake, and a bourbon flavored ice cream. I also got a pupcup. Everything came to around 10/11$. Let me say, the place is cute and staff is wonderful, but i did not like the ice cream at all. It tasted so artificial. All the flavors tasted fake and artificial. I only ate less than half then through the rest away. I would recommended this place to people, but I wont be returning.
Love it great ice cream many options to choose from and staff that are friendly and patient. My go-to ice cream spot.

Staff- Nice, patient with the kids as they select flavors Variety- lots of flavors and toppings for any combo Our purchases: Coffee ice cream waffle cone Milkshakes- Mint choc chip, chocolate pb, vanilla pb- all good flavor and medium consistency Two mint chocolate chip small dishes with toppings (peeps, marshmallows, chips) One soft serve twist with strawberries and pineapple (good, but pineapple was not great) Will come back when close by- good flavors overall. Also offer a few outside tables and a bench, more than enough room.
We went to try this ice cream place in the Clara Barton area of Edison Township. I ordered sugar free butter pecan ice cream. They have several sugar free ice cream flavors, like chocolate, butter pecan and vanilla. Wifey ordered regular coffee flavor ice cream, three scoops. They opened in November 2021. Their ice cream is made by Hershey's Creamery from Harrisburg PA, not affiliated with Hershey Chocolate. The best, good quality, delicious ice cream on earth. Counter serving staff are friendly and helpful. Well lighted ice cream shop in the area. Menu price is fair much less than What's the Scoop in Metuchen, NJ. I should have given them 5 , but the place is quite small to have a public bathroom and inside dine-in area. You need to eat and hang-out outside. Good time to hangout outside on warmer days. Parking is only on curbside, you're not allowed to park in-front since it's reserved for public bus stop. I will return to try other ice cream flavors they have.
What I love about The Ice Cream House is their broad menu which connects treat names to NJ shore towns, as well as the assortment of fresh fudge which I was able to sample while waiting for my ice cream dish. The strawberries and cream fudge and dark chocolate coffee beans were my favorite. The supplier for their fudge products is out of PA, and if you know anything about farm life and food artisans in PA, they are famous for delivering the freshest ingredients. The same rings true for the fudge and the ice cream at this establishment. On the night my family decided to visit, it started raining cats and digs on our drive over, but I was resolute that nothing would rain on my ice cream parade! Glad we weren't dissuaded and continued on our visit because it was well worth it. We were all stuffed on ice cream and the other sweet things - like crepes, waffles and cannolis- that accompanied our individual treats.
I'm happy to review a local small business like The Ice Cream House. Pros: 1. The young lady who helped us was great and we even tried her recommendation of her personal favorite. (I think it's caramocha coffee. Something like that lol). 2. It's less then a mile from our house so I can walk. 3. I grew up on the shore so it was cool seeing the town names as signature products. 4. Nice looking shop. Gives you the feeling of being down on the shore. 5. The Ice cream is good. Con(s): 1. It's walking distance from our house. Lol How am I going to work on my summer body when I'm having ice cream that's so easily accessible every day?! Nothing but good things to say about this ice cream shop that is already a fan favorite in the area.
Nice small ice cream, milkshake and Crepes place In Edison. They also have ice cream cakes. I felt the salted caramel was too sweet, but vanilla was ok. We got the warm lava cake which was average, huge portion size so plan to share. Even the kids scoop was two scoops! My 4 year old did not like the strawberry. Good customer service .
Don't let the melty photo discourage you from trying. Despite being messy, my ice cream was quite delicious! The bubble waffle cone is made fresh, but since it was hot, it definitely melted my ice cream faster. The staff was extremely friendly! The inside is very cute. There's tshirts and other items for purchase. I really loved the mural on the wall representing beaches in New Jersey! There's a bench to sit on inside. I utilized the outdoor seating with my pup who enjoyed her pup cup. We will be back. :)
Super service! I should have called sooner to arrange for a cake and not only did they first calm me down they made me an awesome cake. Worked to incorporate the elements I needed. Delicious as ever! Only second to the outstanding service.

This was my second time coming. There's so much to pick from on the menu. I went here because they have dairy free and no sugar added options. I got a cone of dairy free chocolate chunk. It was a little soft, but tasted okay. My partner had a NSA vanilla shake. I hope they expand the dairy free menu. I'd love to have a few more options, like coffee or caramel. They also have sorbet and funnel cake. I'll definitely come back. read more

My son requested a cookies and cream ice cream cake for his birthday. I wasn't satisfied with the options at the grocery store and other places like Carvel and wanted to support local small business. I was working on short notice and feared I wouldn't be able to get one in time but the folks at The Ice Cream House answered me promptly and were happy to help! They checked to see if any of the ingredients they use contain soy and unfortunately the cake did, but we came up with an alternative dessert for the child who is allergic to soy and he was perfectly happy with it! The cake was absolutely delicious and a very generous size especially considering what we paid. All my guests asked where the cake was from and my mother requested I have one made when her birthday comes around. Pick up was quick and easy and the cashier was so friendly, it was like talking to someone I knew. I am so happy with The Ice Cream House and will continue to go to them for my ice cream cake needs! read more

Delicious, premium quality ice cream! Marla made the best custom ice cream cake my family has ever had... No joke! I got to choose the flavors and fillings (strawberry, cookies and cream, and Oreos!) Plus the base layer was a fabulous vanilla sponge cake. I drive an extra 15 minutes and go out of my way to go to this shop in Edison because the ice cream and their other treats are just so good! read more

I love how a business, instead of taking ownership of an issue blames the customer...and a month after the review was posted she decides to respond. For the record, I did enjoy my ice cream, the one that was actually correct. The one that was wrong was placed in the trash after I posted my review. I take my prior statement back that I would give this business another chance. So happy to have this ice cream house in the neighborhood! Their soft serve is delicious and has the perfect texture. I have tried several different flavors of the hard ice cream and love them all, especially the banana pudding, award winning chocolate, coconut with almonds and chocolate, and peach. The ice cream is high quality, much better than anything I've tried anywhere near by, it always tastes fresh and made of quality ingredients. The owners are the nicest people on the planet, too. They also have delicious waffles and crepes if you're feeling like treating yourself. I go here pretty much weekly. There's also a great coffee house owned by the same people right across the street so you can have coffee + breakfast/lunch followed by some ice cream read more

Not your average ice cream shop! No need to wait for the summer for traditional boardwalk treats - The Ice Cream House's fresh concept and design of summer year round is enough to get me to through the door. Then, add the delish ice cream - happy girl here! I love the colors, menu and staff - they're super friendly and accommodating. the unique flavors ( banana cream pie, milk and cookies and roasted peanut ice cream ) are unmatched.
