The place is very colorful and cheerful in spirit. The employees check in with you to guide you through everything, give you pointers, and check in if you need anything at all. I had a blast creating this painting of my precious cat, Cai! (Before and after pictured below.) I appreciate the transparent pricing structure and the ability to come back and finish your piece. It was much easier for a walk in visit than Color Me Mine in Plano, (which last I visited there you absolutely needed a reservation and they will (very kindly) push you out the door once your reserved time runs out). Getting a reservation here would still be needed with a bigger party or at more crowded times. The vibe here is very welcoming for creative spirits. Highly recommend! Five stars all around.

Unfortunately, the experience was frustrating from the moment we arrived. The employee who greeted us appeared unfamiliar with the promotion and had to ask another employee where the fairy doors were located and whether any were even available. After finding the doors, we sat down to plan our designs. A few minutes later, an employee brought over a pricing sheet showing the fairy doors were actually $30 each. I explained that the social media advertisement clearly stated they were $15 and even showed the ad. The employee consulted someone else, who came over and acknowledged that the ad did indeed say $15 and that another customer had already raised the same concern. Despite knowing the advertisement was inaccurate, we were told they could not honor the advertised price. What was especially frustrating is that if multiple customers had already pointed out the pricing discrepancy, the business apparently made no effort to correct the misleading information on social media. We ultimately decided to paint the doors anyway. However, when it came time to check out, the surprises continued. The total came to over $43 per door, and only then did we learn there was an additional $10 studio fee on top of the $30 door price. This fee was never mentioned during our discussion about pricing earlier, despite employees having multiple opportunities to explain the actual cost. The problems did not end there. Picking up our finished pieces was another fiasco. Apparently our projects had not been properly checked out or documented, resulting in both my sister and me receiving voicemails from the store trying to determine what had happened to our pieces. Overall, the entire experience felt disorganized and poorly managed. The employees seemed unfamiliar with their own promotions, pricing was inconsistent with the advertised information, fees were not clearly disclosed, and there were administrative issues even after the project was completed. If you're looking for a pottery-painting studio in the area, I would recommend Paint 'n Party or The Painted Teacup instead. In my experience, their staff are friendly, knowledgeable, upfront about pricing, and the price listed on an item is the price you actually pay, with no unpleasant surprises at checkout. I was excited to support a fundraiser for the Allen Arts Alliance, but unfortunately this experience left me with little interest in returning to Color Me Mine.

Adrian, the owner, is incredibly personable and clearly passionate about his craft, which made us want to stay and explore. The store is full of seasonal candles, room sprays, and diffuser oils in gift-worthy packaging, plus great deals (like buy 3, get 1 free). We loved it so much we came back for their candle-making class -- complete with a bartender serving seasonal cocktails, wine, and a stunning charcuterie board (so sad we demolished it before photos)! Katherine, our candle instructor, was so sweet and knowledgeable that we left feeling like experts. We learned all about wax, candle pouring and caretaking, and even named our custom creation at the end. All-in-all, we left feeling spoiled and completely obsessed.
