The process was very smooth and easy. Its a very straight forward selection process. Their staff are very friendly and are more than happy to walk you through the selection and crafting process. They'll also do a couple of demonstrations and show you some techniques to incorporate in laying out your color palette. You'll dip your fans into your pallet and they'll be a drawing. Afterwards. We had such a fun time at Dallas Silk Art celebrating my sister-in-law's birthday! She's an artist, so I thought she'd enjoy trying a new, creative experience--and she really did. This was a fun experience. The staff was excellent, and they helped us all the way through the process. It's very hands on and good for adults and kids. We had both in our group of 5. You won't walk away with a masterpiece, but it will be a fun memorable activity. The art of how the paint on water works is very interesting. I personally dyed a silk scarf, and I think it turned out good, the color choice was popping, but after it dried permanently, the colors were dull. It may be just how it dries on the silk. The other products our group created were ceramic or wood, and they turned out fine. I highly recommend Dallas Silk Art. It was a lot of fun. read more

I surprised my Wife with this activity for her birthday. It's located far into Grandscape so arrive a bit early to make your time slot. My Wife made a hat and I made a scarf. The experience itself is awesome. The employees are so helpful, knowledgeable, and attentive. I wish the experience was longer lasting less than an hour. Such a fun experience selecting colors and making the patterns. The women working there were super friendly and helpful. You pick the paints, drop the paint in the water and mix it for the pattern. They'll train you to show you what to do to get your pattern and help to make sure you achieve it. Then when you're ready they'll help you dip the item in the paint. Less opportunity for the novice to mess up. I felt the booking site could have been more clear that when you pay online when you book, it's for the studio time only. You pay for your actual products when you're there. There were a few paints that were running low so that was disappointing. read more

Me and my girlfriend booked a water marbling session with Marilyn. The place is tough to find at first, but once we arrived Marilyn made sure we were ready to go. She advised us it would be just us and that her next appt wasn't for another 2 hrs. About 20 mins into our session, a woman and 2 other people came in, no appt. Marilyn began telling them an appt was necessary, but as the woman pressed on as if she didn't hear her, she started showing them how to water marble (essentially abandoning us). Marilyn was extremely attentive to these people who didn't even have the foresight to make an appt. Before we knew it, they were water marbling on our table, behind us and to the side of us. It was very invasive. Especially after being advised at the beginning we were about to partake in an exclusive session. Marilyn was trying to divide her attention by popping in and asking if we were okay, but this walk in group (she made a point to tell us they don't accept walk ins and it's appointment only) had 95% of her attention. Water marbling itself was fun and tapped into the creative juices, just wish our experience had not been hijacked. read more
