Update: There's still a lot to like here, but the studio has kind of been eroding since I last reviewed it two years ago. First the good news: they seem to have repaired what was a deeply unreliable and often broken furnace/humidifier -- I was frustrated by going to "The Hot Room" only to find it "The Warm Room" or even "The Cool Room." That said, the disappointing: the old sense of community at this studio is largely gone -- often feels more like a mid-range gym where you show up, do your workout, and leave. Little amenities that used to be there are now gone without explanation. Inflation? Seems as though there are fewer classes than there once were, but that may be perception rather than reality. I especially miss the "open studio" times that enabled one to come in and "practice one's practice" on one's own schedule. Maybe that was just a covid thing? Regardless, it's something that was once included that is no longer there. There has been a surprising amount of turnover in management, staff, and instructors. Fortunately, the best Inferno Pilates instructor has hung around through this, and the new yoga team is very solid. For the most part, the turnover doesn't necessarily bother me from a practice standpoint, but it does make me wonder why people keep leaving... Finally, there used to be a great end-of-week Friday afternoon 26/2 class -- with music. A fun tradition, and a great way to kick off the weekend. Despite repeated assurances from the owner that it would be reinstated, it hasn't been. Again, schedules and classes change and that's understandable -- it's unkept promises that are concerning. So, it used to rock. It's just ok now...but unless you want a long drive, it's kind of the only game in town. PS -- Their cancellation policy is kind of BS. It's one thing to charge no-shows if a class is full and your no-show keeps someone else out. But with a well-managed wait list (which they have) and classes that usually AREN'T full, charging for cancellations within (what I think is now) 6 hours (used to be 12?) is kind of a lame money grab. I hadn't done yoga since before the pandemic and wanted to do hot yoga. Somehow I stumbled upon a free class to The Hot Room and decided to take advantage of it. It was really easy to book a class and I thoroughly enjoyed it with Joseph. I downloaded the app and have found it easy to navigate. I love that it keeps your schedule after reserving classes. The things I didn't like are that there are not different levels, and there are no descriptions of the different classes on the app. After my free class they had a promotion for all the classes you can take in two weeks for $59. Without understanding all of the differences or knowing the instructors (some places have profiles on their websites), I booked several classes that worked with my schedule not knowing the differences, and definitely enjoyed two of my three classes so far. I appreciate the kindness of all of the instructors when they realize that someone is new, and the follow-up asking for feedback is nice as well. (I also received text asking how things were going and if I had any questions, yet when I wrote back with a question I never got a response.) A lot of regulars go here, which is encouraging as well. All ages too! I was feeling old but there are quite a few seniors, which made me feel comfortable with being somewhat out of practice. I have enjoyed most of the instructors who encouraged us to go at our own pace and don't single people out or embarrass anyone as some places do. I have come out drenching with sweat but feeling great! I have several classes to go so we'll see if I've found a new yoga home. read more

Terrible administrative staff-I cancelled my membership after a promotional period and they are still billing me! Difficult to reach a live person to resolve issues and they rely far too much on their app to communicate with members. I enjoyed the few classes I took to try this studio but found the front desk people unreliable and dismissive when trying to answer questions. I have been going to Hot Room prior to Covid. I suffered trauma and depression due to life challenges. However, one class the male instructor approached me while I was still in my class (my private healing space) because I left the room to go to the bathroom. Not everyone is the same, I am in my 60's and did not appreciate my space being invaded while I was healing and this was my space and my practice which is precious to me. Still love the place but a male in my face made me feel very uncomfortable and uneasy. And I noticed two males left the room and came back but they were not approached. read more

I can't say enough good things about this studio! The atmosphere is very welcoming, and the instructors are top-notch. Every class feels like a perfect balance of challenge and relaxation, and the heated rooms really help deepen the stretches and enhance the overall experience. I've noticed a significant improvement in my flexibility and strength since starting here. The community is supportive, and I always leave feeling rejuvenated--both physically and mentally. I have been practicing yoga at The Hot Room consistently for over 10 years. My membership predated the current ownership. The studio changed hands about 5 years ago and I have witnessed the complete meltdown of what was once a wonderful, well run and joyful place to practice. Since the changeover, the management has been unable to to get a handle on simple but imperative things like the proper heat/humidity in the room or keeping a regular schedule. Further, the studio is a revolving door of teachers. Their dissatisfaction is palpable. Finally, their pricing strategies are deceptive and greedy. I am really bummed because coming to this studio has been a huge part of my life but it's just not worth it anymore. read more

Tried my first class here today and really enjoyed it! The staff were super friendly when I walked in and I noticed it's a lot of "regulars" because everyone knew everyone. It seems like a fun upbeat community of staff and members. I did the HIIT Pilates in a hot room and the class was 60 / 40 women vs men which was actually more men than I usually see in a yoga class. It was also a pretty full class with around 20 people. The workout was hard and we went the full hour which I appreciate. After the class there's a full shower area with hair dryers etc for you to shower off. They have mats, towels, etc to rent if you forget yours. I thought the packages were more reasonable than like a core power and I thought the class was just as challenging. I don't live very close so it's not somewhere I can join regularly but overall I really enjoyed it and will try and come back for a drop in! read more

I found THR North Shore on Instagram and I'm so glad I did! Every teacher I had was so welcoming and inviting, and really cares about you as an individual and your practice. I would go 2-3x a week, sometimes 4, because of the euphoria I felt after class here. I was a member for a few months prior to moving but I would recommend this hot studio for anyone in the area! read more

Don't give this racist business your money! I have experienced racism from the studio manager Meghan. They seem kind and friendly at first but care more about the business aspect than you or your wallet. Don't go somewhere that treats the space as a business always trying to sell you something and take your money rather than a welcoming studio. Not a great environment. Not worth it for the service you get. Management is poor and they will cancel your class couple mins before the start of class time and then attempt to charge you a $25 fee. Their cancellation policy of 12 hrs in ridiculous as well. You waste your time and money driving there only to not be able to take a class. They have not been COVID safe especially the staff. There's so many hot yoga studios and honestly I would say CorePower Yoga is better - they have more variety of classes and class times. I love this place! I just went to take a class here today and the teacher Lori and other staff (I forgot their name!) were so kind and helpful. The room was a good temperature and the original 90 was taught well. They have a ton of retail and the vibe in the whole place was lovely- students were friendly and chatty. Additionally, this is one of the cleanest studios I've been to and the dressing room is nice as well. 5 stars for SURE. I'll be back if I'm ever back in the area. :) read more

I recently joined the Hot Room from a recommendation from my fiancé. I was nervous because I was new to hot Pilates and yoga. For my first classes of both they made me feel extremely comfortable and welcomed. If you don't feel comfortable doing something during the workout they do not make you feel pressured. I signed up for an intro month but due to my schedule couldn't continue. They automatically charged me and when I tried to cancel and spoke with Ashley. She was very rude that I would have to pay for the 2nd month but can cancel the 3rd even though I couldn't make it to any classes for 2nd month. She refused to pass me to upper management and stated they would tell me the same thing and not waste my time. She wouldn't let me talk and hung up on me. I have been going to The Hotroom for a little over a year. I love it and the instructors are great, however my issue is with the current manager, Ana. When I first started going, I would get gift cards for bday and Xmas. I could use them to apply to my monthly membership for a month to get a break. This past Xmas I was told by the front desk that they thought it was no longer possible but they would check w/Ana and get back to me. When I received no call, I called. The person at the desk checked w/Ana and I was told "no". Then I asked if the people who bought me the gift cards could call & ask for a refund. I was told Ana would "reach out". Silence. I sent a respectful email. Silence. Hot Room is this how you want your managers to behave? Whatever the answer is I would respect it but how about respecting me and giving me one. I have a monthly membership. Doesn't that mean something in this economy? Lack of professionalism by Ana is the reason for my review. read more

I cannot say enough good things about The Hot Room North Shore. Since I joined over 2 months ago, everyone has been extremely welcoming and kind. It's such a lovely community to be a part of. I have been practicing Bikram or now Hot Yoga for 10+. The self guided class at THR NORTH SHORE is hands down my fav/best yoga experience in years. The ability to be very lightly led but mostly a self guided experience really helped me have a yoga experience; focusing on breath & paying attention to my body not the next direction. I have been practicing Pilates and Original Hot Yoga classes at The Hot Room for 2 years now. I always find myself coming back for more! The teachers are inspiring, and they educate you along the way providing various modifications! Everyone makes The Hot Room feel like home! I value that it is a safe place to practice. In my time at the studio, I have never felt judged, but supported in my efforts to reach my fitness goals! I have achieved great results while having fun!! Being a part of this community has moved me to develop a strong mind, releasing stuck energy, and creating a positive life for myself! Everyone is supportive of one another including teachers, and it feels great to come to a place where there is encouragement and empowerment! I really like how we are guided safely in our practice in the heat! I have recommended The Hot Room to so many, and I plan to continue. It's not just yoga, it has changed my life in ways I never thought possible! I struggled in the beginning because I was at a low point, and with time THR has also taught me how to be kind to myself thru the practice! :) No matter where we are in our practice, we are all welcomed :) My experience has been a positive one, and I am 100% sure it will continue :) We were born to move and THR provides just that!
