I came about 10 minutes early and the room was almost full, and within 10 minutes a ton of other people came in and we had to move around our mats for everyone to fit comfortably. With that being said, if you're coming with a partner, try to get there earlier than later to insure you'll be able to be next to them. I've never attended this kind of yoga class and it was very beginner friendly. They have all of the equipment you'll need including a mat if you didn't bring one. The instructor was great and it was a very relaxing mind and body experience. It was definitely something I needed after a tough week of workouts to loosen up my body. I left feeling rejuvenated and relaxed and would highly recommend this studio. I'd love to try their other classes.

Update: There's…read morestill a lot to like here, but the studio has kind of been eroding since I last reviewed it two years ago. First the good news: they seem to have repaired what was a deeply unreliable and often broken furnace/humidifier -- I was frustrated by going to "The Hot Room" only to find it "The Warm Room" or even "The Cool Room." That said, the disappointing: the old sense of community at this studio is largely gone -- often feels more like a mid-range gym where you show up, do your workout, and leave. Little amenities that used to be there are now gone without explanation. Inflation? Seems as though there are fewer classes than there once were, but that may be perception rather than reality. I especially miss the "open studio" times that enabled one to come in and "practice one's practice" on one's own schedule. Maybe that was just a covid thing? Regardless, it's something that was once included that is no longer there. There has been a surprising amount of turnover in management, staff, and instructors. Fortunately, the best Inferno Pilates instructor has hung around through this, and the new yoga team is very solid. For the most part, the turnover doesn't necessarily bother me from a practice standpoint, but it does make me wonder why people keep leaving... Finally, there used to be a great end-of-week Friday afternoon 26/2 class -- with music. A fun tradition, and a great way to kick off the weekend. Despite repeated assurances from the owner that it would be reinstated, it hasn't been. Again, schedules and classes change and that's understandable -- it's unkept promises that are concerning. So, it used to rock. It's just ok now...but unless you want a long drive, it's kind of the only game in town. PS -- Their cancellation policy is kind of BS. It's one thing to charge no-shows if a class is full and your no-show keeps someone else out. But with a well-managed wait list (which they have) and classes that usually AREN'T full, charging for cancellations within (what I think is now) 6 hours (used to be 12?) is kind of a lame money grab. Bad karma.

It was really easy to book a class and I thoroughly enjoyed it with Joseph. I downloaded the app and have found it easy to navigate. I love that it keeps your schedule after reserving classes. The things I didn't like are that there are not different levels, and there are no descriptions of the different classes on the app. After my free class they had a promotion for all the classes you can take in two weeks for $59. Without understanding all of the differences or knowing the instructors (some places have profiles on their websites), I booked several classes that worked with my schedule not knowing the differences, and definitely enjoyed two of my three classes so far. I appreciate the kindness of all of the instructors when they realize that someone is new, and the follow-up asking for feedback is nice as well. (I also received text asking how things were going and if I had any questions, yet when I wrote back with a question I never got a response.) A lot of regulars go here, which is encouraging as well. All ages too! I was feeling old but there are quite a few seniors, which made me feel comfortable with being somewhat out of practice. I have enjoyed most of the instructors who encouraged us to go at our own pace and don't single people out or embarrass anyone as some places do. I have come out drenching with sweat but feeling great! I have several classes to go so we'll see if I've found a new yoga home.

I feel that the class itself is a gift of so much more than just yoga. Cassie is so kind, gentle, and welcoming. What I enjoy the most though, is her knowledge in the areas of yoga, and the female body - especially in this delicate time. I learn something new in every class and always leave feeling refreshed, calmed, and further educated. I love the way we start most classes introducing ourselves and chatting a bit. All girls in this position have things they'd love to chat about w girls in a similar position, but sometimes need an ice breaker. This helps w that and just makes everyone feel more comfortable and welcome. And she offers hot tea if she's made some :) love it My only regret is that I didn't find her months ago.

She is professional yet kind, patient and understanding. After short period of time I am pleased with my progress and feel assured that with her continued training and encouragement I would continue getting good results and attain my goal. Some weeks it is hard to stay motivated. Laura has really kept us moving. She is very personable and knowledgeable. Her cheerful attitude makes the training time go quickly. I went to Niyama on week nights almost 4 days a week this past summer when I was living in the suburbs. Almost all of the teachers I had on week nights were amazing, kind, patient and everything a good yoga teacher should be. The studio is clean, inexpensive (especially if you're a student) and relaxing. If my rating were based on the weeknight classes only, my rating would be much higher. I made the mistake, however, of attending a few of Mac's classes on the weekends. Mac owns the studio- and therefore, I thought it would be a great experience since I loved the studio so. How wrong I was. Upon the first class I attended Mac made it a point to humiliate a student in class because he wasn't doing a backbend correctly. I decided to write it off as a fluke and attended her class again the following weekend. I realized that it was not a fluke. Mac was obnoxiously phony throughout the entire class and brought a condescending teaching style, constantly showering her students with demeaning comments instead of the uplifting inspirational attitude that you so often find in yoga. The final time I visited Niyama, I made the mistake of not checking the schedule beforehand and Mac was unfortunately teaching. During a posture that I find very difficult, Mac came up to me and said (loud enough for everyone to hear) that I should be in the back of the room because I clearly didn't know what I was doing. When I said that there was no room, she rolled her eyes and snapped "There's plenty of room!" I was furious and humiliated! Though I loved so many of the other teachers I refused to go back after that and support a studio owned by a person like this. When I decide to go to yoga I expect a comforting and uplifting experience led by teachers who foster a sense of support and community. When I told my story to a few other students I realized I was not alone in my sentiments. Others told me of similar situations they had either experienced or witnessed. Mac has no business owning a yoga studio and treating her students this way. If you do decide to attend Niyama- opt for a class taught by any of the other teachers, unless you want to leave feeling badly about yourself and your practice.
