If you're looking for something fun and unique to do in the North Dallas/Denton area, I highly, highly, highly recommend you try this place out. My daughter and I have wanted to try Axe Throwing for a long time now. We were looking for something fun to do on a Saturday night, and she remembered she heard about this place, so she called them and reserved us a booth. We arrived 15 minutes early to sign wavers and watch a quick safety video. After that, Eric took us over to our booth and gave us a lesson on throwing, as well as showed us the different ways to throw the Axe. Once we were comfortable, Eric let us loose, but stayed nearby incase we needed him. It took us a couple of games to really get the hang of it, and once we figured it out, the fun just kept on coming. They have multiple games to choose from to keep things interesting: bullseye, tic tack toe, zombies, connect 4, and more. After your Axe Throwing session, you can keep the fun rolling in their Billiards room with a game of pool. They also have drinks, snacks, and some pretty cool swag for sale as well. The staff here is amazing. Everyone was extremely welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Eric initially taught us how to throw and kept us entertained and engaged throughout the entire experience, which was a added benefit. I HIGHLY recommend this location for tons of fun, to blow off some steam, for special occasions, or just because... you'll really have a blast! First time axe thrower. The staff gave us a rundown on how to throw and didn't leave until we were comfortable. There were multiple target games we could play, but had to track score with a mouse/cursor. The staff would check on us every few minutes to make sure we were doing alright and made casual conversation. You can bring food into the establishment but not drinks as they have a good amount of canned beers. They do have snacks and random items (koozie, axe koozie, shirts, etc.) for sale. There is also four pool tables in the opposite room of the axe throwing room. It's nice to have two games at one place to mix it up a bit. It's a small place and wasn't busy when we were there, but could be a nice hangout for a bunch of friends. read more

Everyone was so friendly and helpful! The instructions were super helpful. They watch how you throw and then provide you with tips on how to improve if you suck like me! I was getting tired after about 40 minutes, but then we learned how to do underhand and it was so much more fun! They have a large variety of drinks, but since we don't consume alcohol, we opted for a canned soda. It's a bit pricey at $2.50 for a can, but whatever. I went on a date here and not gonna lie. The outside could use a little work, but it's the definition of don't judge a book by it's cover. The moment you go inside it's actually really nice and well designed. Was quickly met by two employees, Jessica and Connor whom were super informative and super friendly as if we'd been friends for a while. This place is great! Sundays are family throw days. My 7 and 9 year old had a blast! The staff is friendly and funny. They have a huge drink selection from beer to seltzer to pop. The Horse's Axe was a terrific experience! The staff were all super friendly, knowledgeable, and interesting! They chatted with our group, explained throwing techniques, and even gave us one-on-one pointers about how to improve our aim. I didn't really think axe-throwing would be my thing, but they made it a lot of fun and kept everything safe and welcoming. An added bonus is that they know so much about Denton and Texas history that it was an all-round fun night as well as an unexpected opportunity to learn a lot of cool history about Texas and the North Texas area. I didn't have food because we were heading to dinner afterward, but the beers (and beer recommendations) were great! And being able to keep the axe was awesome! I'm new to the area and got separated from my group and they even figured out where I was supposed to go and gave me easy-to-follow directions to get there. Looking for something fun to do on vacation we decided to try axe throwing. We had a great time and discovered it is way more fun than bowling. This was great fun in a safe environment with staff who got us started with safety policy and throwing tips. The music was good old rock and roll and it felt like a safe place for family. I must say that the throwing was easier than I expected and an hour was enough for the two of us the first time. This was a first for both of us , so after a couple practice throws we got down to it. Hitting the target the first time gets your heart pumping and was a huge rush. You don't need a lot of power to stick it and the staff really helped me with three different throws. I enjoyed more sticks than misses and hanging with my niece. We will be back for more throwing and perhaps some pool. Is there more? Guess we will find out. My son and I went on Friday and had such a great time! First I'll start by noting the cleanliness which is important during these times. I have never done axe throwing before and was a little nervous but after we checked in they had an employee (wish I remembered his name) he went over everything with us went through a few practice throws and after that I felt much better. I really liked the projection target, it allowed us to play different games and kept it fun the whole time for both of us. Great music and all the employees there were more than helpful and friendly. The pricing I felt was very fair and we paid the $9 to keep the new axe which came with a bag, towel and gator/mask. Took my boyfriend here last week for a date night and we absolutely LOVED it! The axe throwing was of course fun, but owners are so nice and genuine and that is really what made our experience even better. I like that it'll a digital board and you have different games you can play rather than just throwing at a target the whole time. It's also really cool that you get to take your axe home with you! We are no professionals. Only thrown axes one other time. However, we have decided that we now have a "go to" axe throwing location. The boards and games were very easy to use and entertaining. The instructor was AWESOME. He taught us how to throw and was not overbearing. My son is twelve and doesn't like to be "coached" to much and our instructor worked with him the perfect amount. The other side had pool tables which were also a blast. There were a few people on a first date and the place was very family friendly. They had drinks and snacks but no food for sell, but on a Saturday night there was a delicious food truck in the parking lot, and we were able to bring it in.Oh yeah they sold axes that you could engrave on site. They were very reasonably priced so we had to get a souvenir. I usually don't write reviews but the main reason i did was because of the people. Everyone there was friendly and helpful. I've been to 3 different axe throwing places, and The Horse's Axe knocks them all out of the park! The employees are as genuine as it comes. My wife and her friend were having a hard time getting the axe to stick, but Mike, the owner, made sure to take them over to the next lane and teach them how to throw the axe while me and my buddy played our own game.
