I knew the exact model, size (based on previous fittings at the store) and even called to ensure they had the pair in stock. All good. However, when approached by the store employee in a rather put off way, she stated that they were no longer doing shoe fittings for the day and I had to make an appointment. Keep in mind, there were at least 3 employees in the store and ZERO customers, just myself. I'd like to thank the Athletic Shoe Factory in New Canaan for helping me purchase the same exact pair of shoes. They were friendly, knowledgeable and made thoughtful recommendations. I was in and out in 10-15 minutes! Well done and you now have a new client. RRC needs to do better.

The name represents ~ Hickory (type of wood for skis) & Tweed wool (being the best insulation for the cold back then). In 1985, Skip Beitzel, who worked there while in high school, bought it and has kept the name and the concepts. I was so happy to see it was still a local icon and not much had changed. My High School friend and I stopped in to browse amongst the gear and chatted with one of the sales people. The store had all top of the line sports brands and upstairs on the second floor they still do the ski equipment fittings! It totally made my day! They also have a bike shop located on the same lot in a separate building. The shop looks like a colonial home. As I was looking at the immense number of grips to choose from, I asked a younger girl who worked there which she would suggest and she just pointed and said any. So I was still confused-so I asked another associate who was stringing a tennis racket and he also sort of gave a half ass answer and called for another associate. The employees were not very friendly or helpful-hence I am not giving five stars. However, I finally got the right person-seemed like the manager and she was fantastic. She spent about 20 minutes trying to peal apart my old grip--using all sorts of tools and it was disintegrating in her hands, so I felt really bad. Once she managed to get it off she put on the new grip for me, which was so nice--she really went out of her way to make sure it worked, so I appreciated that. Also-their selection is fabulous--at least in the pickleball area where I was looking--tons of rackets to demo, grips, bags, tennis/pickleball attire etc. I will definitely will go back in the future, if I need other pickleball items, just hoping the employees won't look so annoyed and disinterested if I ask a question.

I had a very unpleasant experience with the owner of this shop and her merchandise. As a result, I…read morewould warn any potential customers to think carefully before shopping here. Last week, I purchased a pair of Dolce and Gabbana heels for $100, on sale from $200. Three days later I wore the heels for the first time, to a wedding. After 40 minutes of standing and walking in the shoes, the heel separated entirely from the sole of the shoe. This morning I brought the heels to the shop and asked Zofia, the owner, for either a refund or store credit. I explained how the heels broke. She turned her back to me and strode over to the counter, picked up a sign that said "All sales are final" and held it up to my face for me to read. When I protested that she had sold me a defective product, she launched into a tirade, comparing her store to Neiman Marcus. I understand that Zofia's store policy is to protect her from people who change their mind about a purchase, or who try to return something after they wear it. However, an expensive consignment store should stand behind their merchandise, and should treat their customers with respect, or - at the very least - decency. I write this review not to air a grudge, but to warn future customers that they risk purchasing broken items at this shop, and that any attempt to return those items will be met with derision and scorn.

Small shop in this very charming and small village, love their carefully chosen quality selections…read more The owner is a lovely Polish lady who, if misinterpreted, will come off as being a bit reserved and cold, but we began to exchange some conversations and I found her to be very sweet and informative (it might help that I currently live in an area that has a large Polish population and have come to understand their cultural ways). She is precise with her policy, both as a buyer and seller, and sticks to her guns (I personally like that, know what to expect). I brought in some items and she was thorough in her examination, turning away several items due to stains or because she felt her clientele would not go for it (even though it was a name brand, she explained that her clients were more reserved). They were very busy, but they had plenty of staff on. I was told it would be a bit because there were a couple of people already waiting. I didn't have to wait very long. They brought out a few boots that I was interested in and a few that they thought would be good for me. Super thorough and very patient. Their selection of equipment and clothing is superb, high quality, reasonable priced. Bev, one of the owners, specializes in clothing and is very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. She will give a fair assessment of any item you wish to purchase. We take her advice as gospel and are never disappointed. If there is an issue in the near future with a purchase, she is reasonable in managing the situation. Overall, we travel there because we are treated well by staff and our purchases have always met or exceeded expectations.
