I don't usually give bad reviews, but this place is the worst. We've been trying to pick up an online order from here for ages. The confirmation email said that everything had arrived, so we drove over last Sunday, only to find that some items were missing. They told us to come back in a week, so we did. Today, a few more things came in, but still-- not the full order. They told us to come back in a week. Dude, we're not driving here THREE times just because your online system is messed up. Frustrated, we asked if we could just cancel the remaining items because this place isn't close to our house and the gas money alone is just making us regret ever ordering from here. And they said no, they can't cancel items until they arrive. But we all know how this will end, don't we? A store with an archaic ordering system that's so inept will likely tell us to pick up things that we no longer need because we got them from someplace else. And you know they probably won't refund us even when we begged them to cancel it. Home Depot, you're renovation whizzes. Can't you renovate your online ordering system? Please! read more

Terrible experience. They charged us for the installation of an appliance that never took place, and also made it impossible to contact them to correct the issue. Ridiculously long wait times on the phone, which we turned to only after trying the recommended, faster methods of contacting them (text and live chat)...which actually took LONGER. 1 1/2 hours by phone, 2 hours for text or live chat. A really solid hardware store in the area. They do follow all the public health measures to make shopping as safe as possible. The only thing I wish they did better was have separate enter and exit entrances since they have already two automatic sliding doors at the entrance. Right now, everyone walks through the sole set of active sliding doors. The mall entrance to this store is closed so you have to use their entrance located at the end of Marjory Ave. You will have to climb a steep set of stairs to get there and parking on the street. You can park in the Gerrard Square parking lot at the front or drive all the way around the back where there is a smaller 3 level parking garage. This is helpful when you need to pick up big orders, equipment, or lumber. This location has all the services and products you would expect at any Home Depot. It is kept clean and orderly during the pandemic from the times that I have had to visit. read more

Absolutely atrocious customer service. Completely unacceptable. Twice they called without notice and said "we're here." I'm like, "Well, I'm not." And they wouldn't bring the stove up to the unit. I called Home Depot and said "you need to provide notice and take it into the unit." They said, "ok." Then they botched that over the course of three days - and wouldn't take it into the unit. This Home Depot has the distinction of being the closest home depot to downtown core. Now with that set aside I am not sure it measures up to the other HD I have visited. I feel this spot is a bit smaller than their standard sized spot I have visited. Now for someone not as handy as moi the main benchmark is service which was non existent on the first visit followed up by a somewhat reasonable experience. Now that I have benchmark I will pay the extra and visit the nearby hardware spots to get the items I need and unless needing something that's only sold here I would stay away. 2.5 stars read more

It's a handy home depot to have downtown but you will not find a good enough selection for home improvements.

Up there with the worst. It's a mini Home Depot so their inventory is incredibly limited and often sold out, yet the store is full of employees just sitting around doing nothing. There are 3-5 people sitting waiting behind a customer service desk, but when you ask them to help check you out they tell you it is self check out only. Why even have customer service if they don't serve customers? 0/5, but I have had a 2/5 experience before so 1/5 seems fair. read more

I would have given it 0 star if not for the items they do have in the store. If you could stay away from this location, then it's for your best interest. Their employees, usually chitchatting/whining is their job instead of providing professional customer service like in other big box stores. They also intimidate customer by intentionally waiting at the exit and on purpose walking towards the exiting customer and stared at customer first then willfully in a evil way move their stare to the shopping cart customer is dragging, just disgusting, more than one occasion. Stunningly incompetent, especially all their IT -- they really don't test customer service, and it's impossible to fill out their survey without a customer ID from a *paper* receipt (nothing available in online order emails). Their website is incompentent for several reasons: you go through the whole process, including checking dates of delivery for every single item (at which point it loses the number ordered, for every item, and it very very slowly updates the page as your repair each of their mistakes), and then at the end it fails for an "Unexpected Error". Unbelievably, somehow they send me the emails OF MY NEIGHBOUR'S PURCHASES, which is a bad privacy failure to start, but then they fail to repair their problem when the neighbour asks, or when I ask! MULTIPLE TIMES ASKING! It's impossible to reach a human agent because the low-functioning chatbot insists on order numbers WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO *PLACE* and order, and then that's a dead end. There really must be a way for this to hit their bottom line, there must be strong negative reinforcement on this shabby and disrespectful customer service. read more

This Home Depot is not your parents Home Depot (assuming your parents live in the suburbs that is), as it's not a massive warehouse in a power centre where the next closest hardware store is the Rona across the parking lot or the Canadian Tire across the 6 lane thoroughfare. In fact this HD connects internally to a mall (Gerrard Sqaure). So right from the get-go you need to go there with the understanding that they won't have absolutely everything you've come to expect from HD. As far as downtown TO goes it's about as good as you're going to get though. I can't really comment on the prices because I'm not a contractor, but they seem to be decent and there are always a lot of tradespeople in there, so I would assume that constitutes some level of endorsement. I have found the staff to be generally helpful and easy to find. Though I will say that they don't seem to have the hiring standards that other HD's (i.e., my parent's HD) have. For example, it doesn't appear that the staff members are a bunch of semi-retired tradespeople who know a lifetime more about my project than I could ever know. read more

Just when you think a visit to a Home Depot couldn't get any worse, I recently visited this one and it just made my blood boil! It's the closest Home Depot to downtown Toronto, but still a good distance. Getting there was a bit of a challenge, as it is not a stand alone big box store. It is a buried in a small inner city mall and there isn't big sign on the street to mark its presense -- I wasn't familiar with the area so it made things more complicated. I drove by the place a couple times to actually find it and to get to it you have to navigate through a couple driveways and parking lots to actually get to it. There isn't much parking there and the entrance bottlenecks through a narrow covered parking area which happens to be near the entrance/loading area, so be patient as the traffic could be awful. This Home Depot is much, much smaller than your typical Home Depot store -- I'd say about a third of the size, and not organized like one either, so you will be spending a lot of time finding stuff on your shopping list, if you can find it at all. It feels more like an aging Canadian Tire store. I had a lengthly list and even with a help of a employee there, I could only get half the stuff I need. Like any Home Depot, you have a store of not so intelligent staff trying to help the hoardes of even less intelligent customers. The combination of being under staffed and the amount of following customers who have the habit of asking way too many stupid questions makes you wonder why no one has gone postal at a Home Depot yet. This is not a place to go to if you need a simple question asked. My visit here was a waste of time and the next day I went to another Home Depot to finish off my shopping. Lucky I didn't need anything urgently or else I would be extremely frustrated and mad. If you live downtown and need to get to a Home Depot, your best bet would be the one on St. Clair Ave. W. Over there you also have a Rona and Canadian Tire as a back up plan. read more

Two recent experiences at Gerrard Square merit Home Depot this review. Other experiences have been fine. The service can often be terrible at this location, if indeed you can find service. Too often I have been given wrong information, when it would be easier to simply have been given none. My attempt to complain yesterday saw me directed to a woman who described herself as a Supervisor and really seemed unconcerned with the details of how I was treated by Greg in hardware. No thanks to Sandy, who I hope did pass my complaint properly up to management. i kind of doubt it. And Greg, when someone asks to please be pointed to wingnuts, just do it. The size does not matter because it is easy to find what fits. And the store does have stainless steel wingnuts. Telling me differently is not useful. 5/16 x 18 is not a number I need to know. The greeting at this store should be "how can we hassle you today"? If you are looking for appliances run don't walk go anywhere but here, go anywhere but Home Depot. The Appliance people at this location to avoid is May (could be spelled Mae), Darrel and Mo (Mo is short for a much longer name). In customer service I spoke with Tony, Ashras, and Ali. Tony seemed to care yet he cut me off 3 times and I had to call back. He swore it is the phone system and not him. There is one lady there that knows her stuff but you can't always get her and it is not Mae. Mae actually hung up on me. These people really like to push your buttons more so than help you. I had some appliance delivered and they were badly scratched. Three days of trying to get someone to take care of things and no where. When they get them on the phone they say they are going to transfer you and instead they disconnect you making you to have to call in again. The more frustrated I got the more they made it difficult for me deliberately and on purpose. There is a culture in this store that is toxic, usually these things start with management and work their way down. There seems to be so much anger at this location, they should just close it down. read more

I have been to this location a few times in the last few years. The staff have always been helpful in finding what I need. I once bought wood siding to fix my end table.. and to cover the squares for my Ikea CD tower.. I still haven't done it! ha! But I found what I was looking for! ha! So I was there yesterday looking for the clippy things to hold the shelf in my armoire and voila this older gentleman was just putting on his apron and overheard me and said: "Come on dear, I'll help you find it!" We went down the aisle and he went straight to the spot that holds all these different sizes, styles and colours of clippy things. He found the right one that I needed and pointed me in the direction for wood boards and said the 'young' fella would help me out! I love this guy! So the 'young' fella did help me find what I needed for making 4 new shelves in my linen closet. He was impressed that I could do all these things on my own! So we ended up going with 2 MDF boards and he took me over to the 'saw' guy and said: the first 3 cuts are free!. He was very sweet. The 'saw' guy got my boards cut in exactly 3 cuts so I wouldn't have to pay extra! How awesome is he??!! 2 boards, one bag of clippy things = $21. A coat of paint and I can finally unpack my linen closet!! read more

This is as close to downtown as you can get for a big box hardware store. It's not as massive as it's stand-alone counterparts in the suburbs but it has waaaaaay more than any of the Home Hardware stores scattered around the city's core. Any time I've come here I've had great service. I've been able to find someone easily in a near-by aisle and they've always been knowledgeable and able to help. read more

This Home Depot location is fairly standard as far as Home Depot is concerned. I like that it's in the mall - so I can not only shop at Home Depot, but also check out the other stores that Gerrard Square has to offer. However, while they've made clear attempts to revitalize the place, it appears that you can't take the "Gerrard Square" out of Gerrard Square. The mall still has a downmarket feel. It starts when you exit Home Depot and inhale the stench of the food court.. but now I'm writing a review of Gerrard Square. This store is a bit tricky to get in and out of. The streets around it are busy, and there's a bit of a bottleneck getting in. However, once you get back there, there is a parking garage with enough space. The staff are reasonably helpful here. They generally have what I'm looking for. They lose points for showing items in stock on their website that are not actually in stock when I get to the store. The employees at the store explained to me that the inventory system which operates the website is different than the inventory system at the store. That's just stupid. I'd also prefer it if they allowed dogs here, like Canadian Tire does. read more

We were helped by Deborah who was friendly, HONEST, knowledgable and not pushy at all. She also managed to help us save some extra cash, which was nice. Every time we have gone here (rent a carpet cleaner, buy paint or building supplies, ask for help) the staff has been really great. read more

This "urban" version of a Home Depot is good for quick stops and supply runs. They seem to stock a subset of what you'd find in the larger suburban locations. At first I found the layout a little confusion since they tried to stuff a big box experience into a shopping mall space. The staff are decent and tend to be extra friendly at this location. Just watch out for parking as it is pretty tight, especially if you need to load up with larger items. read more

It's the staff. Any of whom I've had to ask assistance has always done their best to help. What more can you ask for. Canadian service (and I'm a Canadian) generally falls way short of what you see when you phone or go to an American store. This Home Depot is the exception. You can always find staff - and they are polite and friendly. Perhaps they don't have everything the larger Home Depots have - but they cover all the most needed items bases and then some. I don't think I have ever gotten such a bad service in my whole life. I needed the new blinds, talked to the person in the blinds department, chose the type of blinds I wanted, gave my name, address and phone number and was assured somebody would call me and make an appointment to do the measurements. The call never came. Two weeks later I phoned to inquire and was assured by another employee that I will be contacted regarding the measurement. I waited another two weeks and called again. Another reassurance. And nothing again. I called the store again today and asked for the manager. I was cut off THREE TIMES. I am never going to set my foot in another Home Depot store. From now on I'll go to Lowe. Not that Home Deport cares. read more

IF I COULD GIVE 0 STARS I WOULD. The level of incompetence is paralyzing. Never in my life have I experienced such poor customer service. I have never complained on yelp or any other platforms, but this experience was so maddening that I felt the intense need to share my story in order to spare others the trouble that I went through. My washing machine and dryer stack had to be replaced. So my landlord ordered a new one from Home Depot. I was told I would get a call about delivery time a day before their arrival- they would deliver the machines, install them, and have them running seamlessly by the time they left. I foolishly believed it would be a hassle-free experience. It turned out to be quite the opposite. I was given a delivery window of 8 AM - 12 PM. I worked at 3 PM later that day. I waited for their arrival.12 PM came and no call, no knock, nothing. They finally showed up around 2:30 and laughed when I told them they were late. They said home depot should not have given me that time window. There is no communication between home depot and the delivery team which is a major issue. I was running late for work, upon which they informed me that they could not install the washer nor dryer because they did not have the necessary hoses to attach the machines to the water pipes. I felt mocked by the delivery team when they told me about the hoses. they were condescending towards me and made me feel incompetent when it was their job to set it up in the first place. They finally told me that because I was unaware of this - they would send someone over to do the installation free of charge. I left the machines untouched as I did not want to be responsible for anything happening to them. I got an installation date for a week later. At this point, my machine has been broken for a while and I am running out of clean clothes. I did what they told me to and spent $50 on washer/dryer hoses for the machines. I patiently waited for the call with the delivery window. The day before the delivery was supposed to take place, it never came. I informed my landlords who were the ones handling the order and they contacted home depot. They were told only the following morning (the day the installation was supposed to happen) that there was no record of an installation at all. So I was given ANOTHER installation date for a week later. They called with a time window the day before and told me they would arrive between 10 AM and 2 PM the following day. Again I had to leave for work at 3 PM. The following day I waited and waited and waited. By 3 PM I called into work informing them I would be late because I didn't want to deal with another scheduled date. My employers told me not to come in at all. At this point I was livid because on top of WASTING HOURS OF MY TIME I now had them to blame for lost income as well. I decided to take matters into my own hands. I called Home Depot to find out where the delivery truck was. Before reaching anyone I had to call 4 times and ultimately find a new number to call as every extension I reached sent me to voicemail and all the mailboxes were full. Several calls and hours of elevator music later, a man told me that I was 36th on the list and they were now at #32. They will arrive soon, he told me. At this point it was 5 PM. 5 HOURS LATE. I waited and waited. I called again at 6, at 7, and finally at 8 PM when they still hadn't shown up, and all the lady could do for me was write an email to the delivery company requesting ANOTHER installation date, as everything was now closed. Apparently, the drivers stop going around after 8. The woman was very resistant on the phone, and it took a lot of convincing and pushing for her to give me anything whatsoever. I started wondering why I even bothered. I asked her if there was a record of which deliveries had been made that day, so I could see where they were on the list, if there was a possibility they could still show up, etc. She told me that my "order" had been marked as delivered at 7:10 PM that evening. BULLSHIT. I was home all day. I live in a tiny condo. Regardless, the driver was supposed to call ~30 minutes before arrival. I assume they looked at the sheet, saw "delivered" and assumed that the job was done when there was actually an installation to be made. They tried to reschedule AGAIN, at which point I decided to call an appliance company instead. THE BEST PART ABOUT THIS STORY is that when a new, reliable appliance guy finally came to install the machines, he found washer hoses under the styrofoam in the washer. This means that the WHOLE SITUATION COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. $220 later, the machines are finally installed. All this to say, I will NEVER order ANYTHING from Home Depot ever again. The Store at St.Clair west, has terrible customer service. I bought a 12x12 carpet and a 8x3 runner for 687.00 in Dec.2016 and sold me the most expensive under padding. It was supposed to be delivered before Christmas instead I received the under padding and no carpet ! They cancelled the delivery for carpet twice stating that it wasn't ready, Finally delivered it in January 2017 and it was damaged and had to be sent back. late January I received a carpet no runner apparently the sales person did not include it in the order. I phoned several times no one ever returned my calls. Not mention the carpet was poorly finished at the side edges top and bottom were not finished at all, cut crooked and left to fray. My experience with this location was amazing. I went very late at night and it was not too busy, so perhaps this is why I felt well attended to. All the staff I interacted with were friendly, helpful and went above and beyond to help me. In the floral department, the associate took the time to look up the answer to my question on her phone. At customer service, 3 different associates attended to my request to hunt for an obscure object and even approached me as I was cashing out to let me know they had finally found it. Never buy thing from Home Depot(Gerard Store to be specific) if you don't wanna deal with the huge hassle afterwards, inexperienced deliverers and unprofessional customer services. Below is the whole story. I bought a dryer and washer at Gerrard Home Depot on Sep.6th, 2016. Because of work I can only have my appliances delivered on a Saturday, so I selected the first available spot, which is almost three weeks after, on Sep.24th. The sales guy told me it will arrive that day any time before night. I asked him if it's possible to give me a smaller time range, in the afternoon specifically, because my condo has pretty strict rules on the use of moving elevator. He gave me a straight NO, and he wouldn't even mark a note on my order for me. Later I found out I could specify the delivery window by calling their project support team provided it's a reasonable reason, so this guy probably just wanted to save himself some hassle. After three weeks doing laundry at a local laundromat it's finally Sep.24th. I cleared all my schedule and waited at home. Tic tac, no one called me, not even a voicemail. I called them the next Monday when they told me "oh yea we tried to reach you but you weren't home but anyways the new delivery is scheduled on Thursday Sep.29th." I WAS AT HOME THE WHOLE TIME. I didn't want to argue with them because they could always blame it on the circuit/reception. (I later confirmed with the security guard downstairs, no one came.) I didn't want to wait for another couple weeks for a Saturday so I asked my manager if I could move my lunch time to whenever these guys deliver my stuff, I will just run back(I live blocks away). And here we are on Sep.29th, I got a call from them at 1pm and I thought this headache is finally over. I was wrong. Two delivery guys came with my dryer and washer, but they told me they didn't have the stacking kit. I purchased the kit together with my dryer and washer and the salesperson told me it will come together. "They must forgot to give that to us." Said the delivery guy. So here they are with the dryer and washer but they couldn't install it for me because they didn't have the stacking kit. So they dumped them on my living room and left. At this point I am angry, this is the most irresponsible and unprofessional delivery service I have ever had. I called them again and guess what, the stacking kit was inside the box with the dryer but they didn't know. She gave me another number to call because apparently this is out of her hand. I lost counts of how many calls I have to make at this point, but I made this call and this customer representative told me she will send out an "email" because no rush, this is just another upset customer she got and who cares about them. She wouldn't even get me to talk to the manager. Now I am waiting for her to call back, God knows how long this email will take. I am speechless. This is the first time I ever bought appliances from Home Depot but it was my fault, I trusted in them, should have gone to somewhere else. I am not telling a story, this happened in real life. If you don't want to go through what I have gone through, when you see a Home Depot and decided to stop by and check out something, keep driving, you will be better off anywhere else. read more

This Home Depot has a pretty good selection of stuff, and a Tim Horton's. What it doesn't have is knowledgeable staff. The store motto is "you can do it: we can help", but they hire the people who don't know the products they sell, and certainly can't give renovation/handy work advice. read more

I can't say enough about the staff at this HD! I had a little project I was working on and needed to buy some wood and have it cut to my dimensions. I wasn't quite sure of the type of wood I needed. I had never done anything like this before and it was just an idea I had. Anyway.....I was fortunate enough to speak with Mike in lumber. He advised me on the best type of wood along with suggesting the most economical way to do it. He even loaded it into my car. While he was cutting the wood I went to look for some other hardware and every employee I talked to was polite and hopeful. I will definitely be back to this store. Well done Home Depot!! read more
