I just left the Hone Depot in Hickory, NC. As I was looking for an extended hedge trimmer, I tried finding someone for 15 minutes in the tool department: No success. As I was leaving after buying water, I noticed a cart with trimming equipment. Oh my god, I touched a box, and next, a rude gray-haired woman came over, chastising me for, I guess, looking at the cart. I told her I was going somewhere else to buy. Totally unreliable, will never shop there again. Need to spoon feed questions to staff. Planned on purchasing doors from them and was told they were out of stock even though website listed as in stock. Ended up purchasing doors from manufacturer cost was additional 1300.00. 3 days later doors in stock, too late to cancel w/manufacturer. Contracted w/HD for installation. Installer canceled original date, rescheduled for 3 days later. Installer came an hour late and then said could not do the job as the pre-hung kit was not put together. read more

Home Depot came out and gave me a price on refacing the cabinets paid him $16,000 to have the cabinets refaced six months later the front facing is coming off the doors called Home Depot about this problem he told me it was a toaster causing the doors to melt off and I should not be using the toaster in the kitchen so now I have a kitchen that I can't use and depot will not do anything about it. They said it was all my fault,I was just told that this should have never been done in my kitchen found out from two employees that the kitchen cabinets are too low. They should've been 18 inches to 20 inches off the countertop and this was causing the problem.I should have been told that this refacing would not work in kitchen now I'm stuck with a kitchen that I can't cook in and that my warranty was voided because I used the toaster. read more

They have a great plant selection. The staff never knows what they are talking about. They're extremely unhelpful. Had a pickup order for 25 bags of soil today for my work. Im 100 pounds wet. They made me push it out to my car and load it all myself. No one even offered to help. I asked if I should pull my car up, and they said "if that makes it easier for you to load it." The employees at this store are in dire need of both customer service training and training in how do their jobs. I go in to get a transponder key for my wife's car. I tell the woman up front that its a transponder key for a 2011 Chevy Impala. First off she cant find the key because she is testing it in the door lock key slot not the car key slot. After 4 times she finally figures out what she is doing wrong and tests the key in the right slot. The computer tells her its a transponder key and she looks at me and tells me they don't do transponder keys here. Really?? I said I told you it was a transponder key up front, so why did you not tell me then?? I thanked her for wasting my time and stormed out. I am soooo over this Home Depot. Byfar the absolute worst shopping experience I've ever endured. I have been to this Home Depot a lot but for some reason the lady in the paint department is the absolute WORST! She needs to find a job away from customer service because she has the worst attitude I've ever had to deal with. When I went back because my paint was the wrong color I called ahead to make sure I wouldn't have to deal with her and made her the manager would be at the counter to help me. As is the case with modern retail stores, it pays to shop-around. There are some differences in what HD carries, compared to Lowes. Sometimes it's selections, sometimes it's price. If you do find an item at a competitor, at a better price, they will match that price, and I believe you also get 10% additional off. So that really sweetens the deal. read more

Trying to locate a skidsteer. Contacted not only this Home Depot but the one in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake. Every single store said they had what we were looking for unless we asked specific questions like: are they in working condition, then the story sadly changed. We drove went to 2 locations because we were told they had what we needed, only to find out they were not in working condition. Surely this large of a company has a better way to track the availability and condition of their rental equipment. It's disrespectful to customers to give them the run around. In some cases the store associates were very rude. I hope management is able to provide better customer service training to avoid this type of negative representation of their company. read more

I live 90 miles away from Home Depot verses the Lowe's Home Improvement in my town. I went in, showed the guy at the info station what I wanted and he told me which aisle to go to. He was the most helpful person there. I go to the aisle and look around for someone. Found a female worker and said "Excuse me," three times before she would even look at me. I told her what I needed to find and her expert help was to point in the general direction. Fine, with my daughter's help we finally found what was needed, although there was only the one item instead of the eleven that the website said this location had in stock. needed two more items but had to find them on our own without any help because the other two people I started to approach turned their backs on me as I neared. Lowe's may be more expensive but at least they have friendly and helpful personnel. read more

Do NOT BUY LARGE APPLIANCES FROM THIS STORE!! I bought a washer dryer combination from Home Depot. When it was delivered the washer did not work properly. I tried for two weeks to call customer service at Home Depot. Every person I talked to was either stupid or a liar or both. I finally spoke with the manufacturer, and they worked everything out in three days. I left a message for the store manager so I could complain about the personnel in the appliance department and he has not returned my call. So I tried to order the Father's Day special on their ryobi days advertisement. I went to the store and was told that the sale where you get a power tool free with the 2 battery purchase was only for a few select items they had posted on a sign. I already had most of those items already. I questioned about the big stereo with bluetooth and was told that the stores did not keep this radio and it was available online only and again it was not part of the sale This was Friday. Since we went out of town camping for the weekend I check online on Sunday and low and behold they have the radio with the 2 batteries for $99. The exact opposite of what I was told in the store yet they were out of stock. It would not let me add to cart. I got o line with Live Chat but was told they only had a limited number of them and I could not pay now and get later. I told her I wasn't worried about time line would just like to get the special and was advised nope not gonna happen. Good job Home Depot. You should at least allow a rain check if you aren't going to stock enough. Maybe you should learn some customer service skills from Walmart. read more

On 4/30/19 I order a Troy-Bilt lawn tractor from the Home Depot website and was given a delivery window between 5/13 & 5/21. The days came & went but no tractor so I called them. I was told it was being shipped via Estes & the associate called the terminal. He was told by someone at Estes that they had it but didn't have some required content label so they didn't know what to do with it. Never once did the Home Depot associate think to ask Estes if that was the case why they called them rather than just letting it sit there for weeks. I was then informed the supervisor at Estes was on vacation so they couldn't provide a delivery date until he got back. So I waited until the day of this elusive supervisors return & called Home Depot again. I was told it would deliver the next day, it did not. I was however texted a tracking number from Estes & was able to use it to get in touch with the terminal directly. This time the person "assisting" me at Estes gave the excuse of "Oh, we thought someone was coming to pick that up." Don't you just love being lied to over & over? Of course, this person had no idea I worked in the trucking industry once upon a time & am therefore fully aware of trucking companies practices of sitting on what is know as an LTL shipment until they have a full truckload of them; they make more money that way. But, they did deliver it later that day. So, it's the evening of 5/31 & I get home to find the lawn tractor sitting on my carport in a shipping crate, it had arrived in a "some assembly required" state, lovely. As I'm unable to get to that particular bit of unpleasantness right way it sits, useless on my carport a few days. So, when I finally have time to wrestle the tractor out of the shipping crate & deal with the assembly I hook up the battery cables, no biggie; put on the steering wheel, check; attach the seat ... ut oh, nope, not happening, missing parts. I call Home Depot again & talk to a nice lady who's very apologetic & promises to arrange to get me the missing parts & promises she will call me back the next day. I'm a patient person, many would say too patient perhaps but I wait several days, I give her a chance to come through for me. Alas, I never hear back from her or anyone else at Home Depot for that matter & still no parts have shown up either. I called Home Depot again last night, 6/6/19 for anyone keeping track, & end up on the phone with an associate for nearly an hour. There were absolutely no notes in their system regarding any of the times I had contacted them or of the issues I was having. But, she swears up & down that she's going to get the problem resolved for me that very night. She gets in contact with someone further up the food chain than herself which took a ludicrous amount of time, they apparently don't talk to each other either. But, after nearly an hour of inane chit chat I'm told Greselda the "higher up" person is going to email me promptly at 9:00AM this morning, to both my personal & work emails just to make sure I get it first thing in the morning. The associate was quite pleased with herself for having "resolved the issue" for me. I didn't consider the matter resolved since I still had no idea when or how I was getting my missing parts but sure, whatever. There was always a chance she was telling me the truth so I opted not to rain on her parade eternal optimist that I am. When I got home from work this evening, having gotten no emails from Home Depot to my work address I checked my personal email. I did have an email that was sent at 1:17PM but it was from the same lady I spoke with last night, not Greselda the Higher Up as I was told it would be. The email, generated from a "do not reply" address, contained only the phone number of the manufacturer & a contact persons name. Does anyone out there think that is taking responsibility and taking care of your customer? I sure don't. As far as I'm concerned they just dumped the problem back in my lap. So, now it is 8:44PM on the Friday evening of 6/7/19, 5 weeks after ordering my lawn tractor from Home Depot & I still can't mow my now 2 feet tall grass. It's highly probable it will be Monday before I even have a chance of speaking with someone useful with the manufacturer. Which will be difficult as I will be at work myself all day Monday. Issue resolved? I think not. Want to take a guess at my honest opinion of Home Depot? Consumers should know "While Supplies Last" truly means - "We at The Home Depot are going to sell the same products to our in-store customers while simultaneously selling it to our online customers. We will actually take online consumers money and send order confirmation emails - 'putting on the whole show.' We will knowingly cause our online customers to believe our inventory availability to be true even though we have admitted on voice recording that we know our online ordering system will never truly be able to give an accurate inventory for our online consumers to make an informed purchase. We will stick in BIG BOLD PRINT 'While Supplies Last' knowing we are selling the exact same products to two or more consumers at the same time and then choosing one over the other(s) -- choosing in-store consumers over online consumers. All while we are hiding a 'covering our butt' clause in the fine print somewhere in the encyclopedia sized terms and conditions. We will lead our online consumers to believe a falsehood that they have entered into a purchase agreement with The Home Depot causing them to stop shopping for the items they believed they purchased from our business. We will send them cancellation emails full of lies about how sorry we are and how important they are to us. However, we will knowingly not mention this is a lie and that we will only care if they spend even more of their personal time filing complaints and even that will ultimately mean nothing in the end. We could care less about misleading our online consumers and the stress and frustration involved. Just as long as we sell our products and add to our bottom line." This would be a more accurate definition of 'While Supplies Last.' If they truly cared about all of their customers, they would honor the purchases of their online customers without said customers having to file complaints. If they truly cared, they would send honest emails admitting they oversold and it will take some time to get more product in to fulfill their online customers orders. If they truly cared, they would offer free shipping to those online customers who chose in-store pickup if they are unable to come and pick up the delayed order. If they truly cared, they wouldn't put consumers like myself through all of the crap I have been through. Being that we are here at this point is the only sign I need to know The Home Depot does not truly care about anything, but their bottom line. I have been told by The Home Depot corporate office that I matter so much while being politely bullied for refusing to just accept being treated this way. I found out the other day that - well, according to the Hickory, NC location managers - that they had no idea I had filed a complaint. Suddenly, I have various managers and supervisors calling me finally wanting to talk and leaving conflicting messages from what I was led to believe by the corporate office's escalations team. I have said exactly how I feel about this entire horror of a shopping experience. I shouldn't have to repeat it ad nauseam to everyone at The Home Depot corporation. I shouldn't have to tell them how to work this out or what to do. I have stated how I feel about how poorly they have treated me. They offered something I didn't feel is fair after all I have been through for two months, so I refused it. It shouldn't be this hard to shop at The Home Depot or any business. And most importantly, consumers shouldn't have to work to get a product or service they are paying someone else to provide. At this point, I have no idea what to believe from anyone at this company. If you get cheated like I have been cheated and told lie after lie, file complaints on the Better Business Bureau website and at The Federal Trade Commission website. Also, contact a consumer news team. It should be against the law to knowingly sale the exact same items to more than one person and then lie saying the product is no longer available. read more

I selected ceramic tile for bathroom. They did not have all that I would need, but was told another shipment should be in within a week to 10 days and they would call me when it came in, but I could call and check on receipt of the delivery. I called everyday for a week, then every other day for a second week speaking to 3 different people in that department. Spoke to each one of them more than once. They had assured me that they would call if the tile had come in. If they ever received that delivery, I don't know it. Never received a call from them and I gave up, quit calling. They did tell me that I get it in Statesville or Gastonia, but I would have had to borrow a vehicle to drive to Durham because mine was wrecked. Fortunately, several weeks later family members from Durham were coming to visit and had them bring the tile to me. I will say that the lady who helped me select my tile was very helpful and kind. I was so pleased with her assistance in the beginning that I spoke to the store manager to express my appreciation of this person's service. However, she provided no follow-on service. read more

Never again will I ever rent anything from Home Depot. We went to rent a skeeter to level out some land... before going we called and they advised we needed a full size vehicle with a hitch. That was all they said so that is what we provided. When we got there they immediately started the clock on the time. When we went to hook it up, the hitch we had did not work.... mind you they did not say we needed a specific hitch before going. So we spent an hour+ trying to figure out other options ..... never did they once suggest just buying the needed hitch from the store .... my uncle suggested us to do so once we finally got in touch with him for assistance. We then went in the store and purchased the needed hitch.... by now almost 2 hrs have passed on our rental time and the associate Joe indicated he would reset our time. Before we left I said, ok so we will need to have it back around 530 and he agreed. We headed home and started the needed work with the rental. Around 4pm I decided to call the store just to verify the time and they said it needed to be back at 430. Clearly that is not what we were advised and we live 30 mins from the store and still needed to clean it and a gas it. The clerks we spoke with on the phone were rude and disrespectful to say the least and were no help at providing additional information if we needed to extend the rental time since it was never reset to begin with. Had the associates better assisted to begin with extending the time would have never been an issue, and had the time extension been entered and accurate time been provided we again would have no issue. But now due to their lack of information to us I am now out of pocket not only the cost of the rental but additional money that I should not have to pay. This is outrageous and I am beyond displeased with the service that was provided. read more

Awful experience. Went there to buy a microwave. Employee was very helpful. Upon checkout I had no problem paying $59 for the installation until I was told that I would have to pay an additional $59 for the delivery. I told them I would pick it up in the store to avoid the charge. I was told that even having it shipped to the store was still an additional $59. Isn't that the point of retail?! If you don't have it in stock than you order it in for the customer. Not my job to take care of your shipping process if I am willing to pick up the product in the store. He not only knows about flowers, trees and decorations but he knows about DESIGN! He is awesome. He knows his stuff and it is a natural for him. He helped me put together a 22'X22' flower bed. He helps me with Christmas lights and helps me decide how many lights I will need. He helps me with everything and never ever seems to be bothered as some would act. We're do-it-yourselfers, and we're in Home Depot all the time. We've tried over the years to use Lowes because it always seemed to be closer, but invariably it was always more expensive. Furthermore, when I have shopped at Lowes, and there was a problem, management was not responsive, and I've had problems with quality. This particular Home Depot is now my go-to store for three big reasons. It's almost always the lowest price and I have used the option of finding a lower price and them matching it with an additional 10% discount. Secondly, their staff is so friendly, I now know many of them by name. They've gone out of their way to assist me, and have learned my name as well. That's a good feeling to shop in a store where I'm appreciated to the point that they've learned my name. But most importantly is the management. I recently had a problem with a big-ticket appliance. The manufacturer provided a poor service company to remedy the problem, and at the end of the day (actually months), the problem persisted. Home Depot's management went out of their way to help me, and eventually took the hit on the appliance. Whether they will recover from the manufacturer, I don't know. But they stood behind ME, the customer, and while it took some time, I am satisfied and appreciative of the outcome. All stores are run by different managers. I can assure you that this is a well run, consumer-centric store that will have your back. I'm glad it's close by. read more

Let me tell you how Home Depot in Hickory NC works.I called on Wed.morining to reserve a lift from their rental dept.To be picked up on the up coming Saturday around 7:00 pm. I had a huge job to do had my help lined up. Had to take a day off from work cause I work on the weekends and could only do the job on a Sunday. Well when I got their to pick up lift.These DUMB A#### told me they couldn't rent it because it was on repair. I asked when it was put on the repair list said friday.Supid a##holes could have called me Friday to let me know so I could make other arrangements to rent from somebody else but NO, They wait to I get down there to let me know.
