Rented a moving van today from this Home Depot location and had the most exceptional renting experience. The rental manager, whom I believe is named Jessica, was a total pro. She made the rental process super easy and had me in and out of there in under 15 minutes. What impressed me the most was her multitasking skills. She had a large influx of customers both in person and call-ins and was able to triage them, all while handling my paperwork.. all without skipping a beat! For the utility and price, it's hard to beat the rental vans from Home Depot. I filled an entire storage containers worth of things inside of it + it was super easy to drive and park. Having a miserable time trying to get the washer and dryer delivered. 1st attempt the time frame I was given 11-4 pm last Thursday. Time arrived 9:30 am. Wasn't home but husband was. They stayed 5 mins and said couldn't install because need a stacking kit. The stacking kit cost $27 on Amazon was told have to order Home Depot's which cost $70 the part is $30 but they change you $29 to deliver it! Would have ordered it originally with washer dryer but didn't know I needed it. Not a suggested accessory. Did you know they deliver at 7 am on a Saturday morning. Supposedly there is a 15 min wait window. I opened my front door at 7:13 and the truck was gone like a fart in the wind. Immediately called asking for them to come back. We always seem to have problems with Home Depot. We have had to visit Home Depot twice since March and on the first occasion it took us about 25 minutes to get help (after asking an associate). On our most recent visit, which was to the Freeport location, help was even more challenging to find. I'll mention this review is specific to curbside pickup, which is what my wife and I utilized to pick up an online order. My wife had placed the order about 2 weeks prior to pickup, and we had to wait that length of time for the item to be shipped to the store (not a big deal, and we were happy to wait). When it came time to pick up our order, my wife was able to drive there to pick it up and followed the instructions in the curbside pickup spots. After 20 minutes nobody came out, so she called and the phone rang for 15 minutes off the hook. Finally somebody came with the items to the car but unfortunately the items couldn't fit (our fault there). My wife drove back without the items and decided to come back with me in my Jeep the next day. When we arrived the following day, we once again pulled into a curbside pickup spot and followed the instructions to indicate we had arrived. After 30 minutes, still nobody, and the phone once again was ringing off the hook. After 45 minutes, my wife decided to walk inside to ask for help. She found the first employee she could, and if it weren't for this individual this rating would be 1 star instead of 2. The woman went to the curbside pickup desk and found that nobody was there, nor was anybody responding. This was an hour before curbside pickup was supposed to close! Thankfully this awesome employee went to go pick up the item herself and bring it back out for us. Just like every other Home Depot I've been to, management is so ineffective. Individual employees are wonderful, but something about the way the staff is organized and something about their operating procedures makes for a chaotic mess. This is literally the worst Home Depot on Long Island. The parking lot is a constant shit show, and the contractor and lumber lines are always a mile long. I placed an online order for in-store pickup (bad mistake, NEVER AGAIN) and it arrived at the store and 3 days later I still didn't receive an email to pick it up because it was just sitting on the truck. Good luck getting in touch with anyone at the store. I've called over 5 times and the phone just rang and rang for 10minutes straight each time with no one ever picking up the phone. I went to the Freeport Home Depot on 7/7/22 looking for mulch and it wasn't where it was supposed to be, a gentleman approached me and asked if I needed help so I told him I needed 15 bags of Vigaro Red Mulch 2 cubic size. He said he would search for it. Well he searched high and low for me and finally found it all the way at the back end of the parking lot which I would never have found...so I paid for it and pulled my sub so he wouldn't have to walk them all the way to me...he helped me load them and.....voila! I ran out of the laminate floor I had at home, so mid-project I ordered two cases of a similar looking floor from Home Depot online for same-day pickup. I called the store to ask questions about curbside pickup and waited for 35 minutes without anyone picking up (just the hold music the whole time). I eventually gave up. I got a text a few hours later saying my order was ready so I headed over there. I pressed the link they sent me to let them know I'm there. It asked for the order number and the kind of car I was in, presumably so they could bring the order to me. After TWELVE minutes of just sitting there, my husband waved down an employee and she told him he has to check in with her. (Um, okay, so why did I have to tell you I was there online?). I checked the instructions the link had given me several times and nowhere did it say to check in with an employee- that my online check in was enough. After waiting another 25 minutes someone finally brought our floors out to us. I understand that in the middle of a pandemic that things might no go as smooth as they should, but in comparison to other stores curbside pickup (ex: target), Home Depot really does not have it together. By far, this is the worst Home Depot I've ever gone to. Unfortuntely, it's the one I visit most because it's close by. It's been my experience that Home Depot associates will literally run away from customers (myself included) as customers approach with a question. TIP: you can always find associates in the restroom or hanging out in front of the store on break. Not sure how they're all on break at the same time, but there ya go. The "order online and pick up in store" option here is a bad joke. I've tried it several times. Each time, I get a text msg hours later saying "your order is ready for pick up" and invariably I show up to Freeport Home Depot only to find that my order has not even been picked yet. This gravely defeats the purpose of ordering online in advance to avoid wait times and lines in order to save time. Just the other day, I picked up an online order in Freeport and the customer service associate failed to give me a receipt as I asked. She scribbled something on a piece of paper instead (not sure why). As you might imagine, I was accosted by the security guard on my way out for not having a proper receipt. These folks at the FREEPORT HOME DEPOT are just asking for a law suit. In the defense of Home Depot nationally speaking, I've used HD stores elsewhere across the country and have had 2- and 3- star experiences. This location is the closest to my house, so I go there out of convenience, but it is the absolute worst Home Depot I've ever been to. Stock is low. Standard items I could find at any other Home Depot are never in stock here. The service sucks. No one knows where anything is. It's like everyone is on their first day of the job. Recently when I went to get paint, I was the only person in line and yet no one even talked to me after waiting for 10 minutes. The previous time, I waited a good 20 minutes to get paint. The adventure begins as you enter the parking lot from Sunrise Highway. Watch for the day laborers on the right who seem to be just as angry as the employees inside. The parking lot is terrible and definitely not well suited for such a busy place. So the journey continues once you enter. You can immediately tell this place looks likes a bomb went off, and the best part nobody cares. When I was there I saw groups of apparent managers conversing laughing and joking about how great things were. Let me tell you this things are not great there. As I continued to get some gardening supplies I looked for someone to give me some advice, sadly with no avail. When I was leaving the gardening section I saw one employee who upon seeing someone who might ask a question darted the other way (we'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now). So my next stop was to get some light bulbs that the wife requested. She actually sent me with the light bulbs which was nice than the normal descriptions that seem to lead to coming home with the wrong stuff. So I turn down the isle and there was actually an employee there. As he smiled and I signaled to him I might need help, he actually darted the other way. There was no mistake now I knew that their employees took a three day course on advance techniques on avoiding customers. While it would have been nice to get some advice on a couple of things I found the bulbs I was looking for, after moving piles of stock that had been dumped in the aisles like the guy who walks his dog and doesn't have the consideration to bring a plastic bag. See pic of their dumping escapades. So I walked around the store and I counted 16 employees that I passed, and another guy in the tool rental area. I realized part of their training in that course included making sure not to ask customers for help. So after deciding not to buy anything more than I absolutely needed I went to check out, yup one register staffed by an employee and 4 self service check outs. Having no faith in their employees I stuck with self service (after all the rest of the store is that way why not the cashier too). No complaints there, machine gladly took my currency. I used to enjoy going to Home Depot as it used to be fun. What happened? I will not be back to HD Freeport again! read more

I have tried twice. TWICE to come to this location to find out if what I am looking for exists. I am not a handy guy at all that is why I rely on the help of a HD or Lowe's employee to help me. I went in and browsed the electrical department for what I am looking for. I couldn't find it. Both times I had to have a cashier page someone. Both times nobody showed up. Today I see 1 employee who knows electrical. But he is helping a customer. I waited 10 plus minutes for him to be done but he was still helping someone. This guy saw that I was interested in his help. Finally he was done but another employee got his attention. Did the first employee offer to come help me as I was eyeing him? Nope. But instead the two wanted to complain about their job. My patience is now getting really thin. So I'm now standing 3 feet in front of them waiting for them to be done arguing. Guess what. THEY FREAKING WALK AWAY. THEY GO IN SEPARATE DIRECTIONS AND WALK PAST ME. Once that happened I stormed out the store and drove further away to go to Lowe's. read more

My friend Jorge called me today about his experience in the lumber department. He wanted to express his concern with Freeport NY Home Depot. He went to Home Depot to purchase some lumber for a project and requested help from two Home Depot Lumber Department employees but his request were ignored. The employees were to busy laughing and giggling at their phones. They looked at him and returned back to their phones. He wasn't sure if it was do to his English accent. The experience for him was demoralizing. He expressed this concern about to a supervisor who said he would speak to them. Home Depot needs to do a better job with its customer service. The community helped build Home Depot to what it is today. Employees such as these should not be working in a store that so heavily depends on its high grade customer service. read more

I had a cast on my foot that was not visible. When I finally found 3 people in the front conversing, I asked where the toilet seats were as the store seemed to change the placement of everything since I'd been there last. The woman told me to go to the back and look for the bath sign. I asked what aisle, but she had walked away. Still not telling anyone about my cast, I proceeded to the back of this enormous store and saw the Bath sign was completely diagonal across the entire store from the entrance. I was looking for someone to help me. Nobody was around! I proceeded to the section and walked up and down about 6 aisles labeled bath. Nothing looking like toilets or toilet seats. I was about to go around again, but my foot was really hurting and I hoped someone would come to this desolate corner of the store to help. No luck. I was about to cause a commotion when I decided to walk towards the front of the store and ask someone to get my item for me. I had the exact SKU # and Model # and everything needed to get my item without a fuss. As I was walking, I saw a "mild-mannered" worker helping someone with doorbells. I heard him telling her that it's hard to get them to work and he was working with someone for a half a day to get his to work. Great selling technique. I waited patiently until he turned his attention to me. I was so frustrated at the point. I told him right away about my cast and I started to complain (admittedly whining) about the customer service here. I complained about no toilet seats being in the bath aisles and nobody to help me find them.He pointed aisles and aisles away and told me they were there. I thanked him and said that the sign said Kitchen, not Bath. Why would toilet supplies be in the Kitchen aisles?! I never would have found them. He explained that everything is moved around to accommodate the manufacturers' requests to have all their things together. I said, "But the sign says Kitchen!" ______________________________________________ IMPORTANT PART: Like, going to the police important! He then said, "I can always find a place" (or something close to that). _____________________________________________ I left to go towards the aisle and I could see toilets, but no toilet seats until I got to the VERY BACK of the store (in excruciating pain) It was right apposite a loading dock type of garage door and a person was driving very badly, banging into things as another employee waved her with flags as to what direction to go. He said to me to move out of the aisle. I was not doing that because it was so long and I wasn't walking back and forth again. I just moved to the side and prayed the person wouldn't smash into me. I asked the man with the flags for help because I finally found my toilet seat, but there was just one and it was repackaged. I'm not a germaphobe, but I'm not getting a new USED seat. He looked for the same model and said, no, there were no more. I got even more angered, but reigned it in. "I looked it up online and there should be 15 in this location or I would have gone to a different store. Would you please look it up? Do you have a scanner?!" I was not walking more than I had to. He took out his phone, scanned the barcode and came back with the info I had given him. He looked up and down and went into the next aisle to look. Why would they be in the next aisle when they were all here? He started to bring the huge ladder into the aisle when I saw at the VERY TOP of the rows, a couple of boxes with the model # of what I needed. I pointed it out to him. He was very kind. I said, "Perfect timing for me to see you, but bad timing for you to see me." He chuckled. I thanked him for his help, still reeling from the other guy's veiled threat. There was more that I'm not going into because it's just another reason that I won't be able to enter this store anymore. I suggest you look into this worker, whose name I didn't get, and have him suspended or fired. True, I was a pain, but that kind of response is NOT NORMAL. He is thin, grey-haired, I think he wore wire-rimmed glasses, and looked in his late forties I think. In this age of "ME TOO", he is one of those people who adds "fuel to the fire". Pun intended. This is apparently the ground zero or Home Depots. They probably don't have what you want in stock, especially if it's a sale item. Don't try to ask anyone anything. They have no idea when they'll have it in. They have no idea what you're asking about. They have no idea what aisle it would be in. They have no idea what time it is. JUST DON'T ASK ANY QUESTIONS, EVER. The cashiers struggle with basic tasks like ringing and giving change. Don't try to buy a sale item, because it won't be rung up properly. OR it will take 30 minutes for them to figure out that this IS in fact a sale item and how much it should be rung up for. They will not ever come back if they have to check on something. Self checkout is a better option, but the sensors are awful. The employee manning the self checkout stations is also useless. Do yourself a favor and take the extra time to drive to a different location... Or better yet, patronize a local shop for what you need. At least they'll be willing and happy to help you. *Edited To Add* One of the times I was here and a CASHIER went to go check something while I was being rung up, she never returned. I waited over half an hour. Begged to be rung up by the cashier next to us, who made a face but finally did even though she had an attitude about it. On our way outside, I see the original cashier standing around playing on her phone, smoking a cigarette. Are you effing kidding me??? I reviewed the return policy for Home Depot to return items that were to heavy to return to the store. I called customer service and they stated they would send someone to pick up drywall which I purchased. The day of the pick up the driver refused to take the drywall because it was not outside. The drywall is literally at the door of my garage. However, they stated they are not allowed to come into an entrance. If the return policy for major appliances is to come in your home and take the major appliances back to the store, how can they not come to the door and take back a product they promise to pick up because of its weight. Visited this location a few days ago looking for a few specific items. Upon entering the store and looking myself I had little or no luck. I looked for a store representative for at least 20 minutes with no success at all. I scanned the isles and found no one. I asked a cashier and she pointed me to someone near the tool section. This guy had little or no clue as to what I was looking for and when I found the actual item he had ZERO knowledge of it's uses, yet he was assigned to this department. I don't understand what happened to home depot. In the past I have found knowledgable employees in all sections. The only thing I could think is that since construction and contracting has been very busy that the staff has turned over and for the worse. They no longer have any staff and the one's that are present have little or NO knowledge at all. It's very aggravating to not be able to find anything and then not be able to obtain help when needed. HOME DEPOT - GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!!! It has certainly made me decide to go to a mom & pop store instead. I would happily pay more money for a bit of knowledge and help. Here's an update on my dryer repair (original review last month) STILL NOT FIXED!!! A repair guy finally came, and while he was very nice and said it was fixed, when I tried using the dryer again it was (and is) broken with the same issues. I called the repair service again and left a message, and they didn't call back for three days. When they finally called back, they said I had to call Home Depot again and get another repair ticket. I called Home Depot again and gave all the information, and they were transferring me to book the appointment, and I was disconnected. NO ONE CALLED BACK. I am dismayed. ***I didn't realize my original review would be eliminated when I updated --I thought I was just adding an update. I originally posted last month that Home Depot had assigned a rude and unreliable service company (Benchmark Repair in Queens) who failed to show up for an appointment even after I was assured by the supervisor at Home Depot service that they would be there! I pulled out my dryer and waited for hours! The woman at Benchmark also hung up on me during another call. When I complained to Home Depot service they said that the part had been ordered and they would not assign a different service company or reprimand Benchmark!
