Out of stock or completely strewn about empty boxes and unwrapped chords. This is bottom line accountability of staff
    Eldwin L.

This Home Depot is an absolute atrocity and hovel of a store. There is trash strewn about throughout all the Isles open boxes and completely empty shelving units. This is always been a disgusting store for years and drive out of my way to go to Taylor or Dearborn Heights. But at this point it's the whole reason to go to Menards. They're always out of everything most of the time because stuff is getting stolen. And none of the employees want to help they all walk around with an attitude and when asked about stuff that was on the website that shows an in-stock item they just say we haven't been updating the website do to. But in reality the items aren't there because they were stolen or misplaced I'm sure how can you find anything in this place when they literally have dead Christmas trees laying in the aisles. I would understand if this was maybe a mom and pop shop and you just chose not to shop local but this is a freaking big box chain where everything is supposed to be unilaterally the same across the board. If it was a franchise the franchisee would have had it revoked. The fact of mismanagement and negligence on Home Depot corporate with the store over multiple years is just Flatout bordering on disgusting. I won't continue to go far out of my way to not show up here and give my money to Lowe's or Menards. So the point I will try to stay away from Home Depot even in other locations now. And given the current climate nowadays don't try and blame it on the people that shop there or the location to the city. I have shopped at the Home Depot on 8 Mile and it was nowhere near this deplorable.

No one working at the paint area

There was no one at the paint counter, I had to find an employee and then he had to go find the guy who was supposed to be working at the paint center. I waited about 20 minutes for help.

Service was horrible and non-existent. The workers were rude and lazy. Don't waste time shopping here.

A couple of times I had to make multiple trips in one day. The staff was always professional and helpful, and almost always had what I needed, which is saying a lot since I managed an old 50-unit building that needed a lot of things for a lot of problems. Sometimes I would grab the wrong thing, and it was never a problem bringing it back and exchanging it for the right thing. Sometimes my boss would get a bit behind in paying for it all, and they would gently remind me, and the ol' slumlord would send them a check from Florida. They were cool but firm about it. It seemed to be a situation they'd been through many times before. They have homey touches here - a small tv on the counter that's always showing something. A fridge with Faygo in the can. My favorite thing about 3rd Ave Hardware is the bicycle selection. In the warmer months there's a whole row chained together on the sidewalk out front. Old ten speeds, 70s 3 speeds, cruisers, mountain bikes, etc. But, wait, there's more inside! Another row between the front door and the register and still more up and down the cramped aisles! (3rd Ave Hardware could really use a more spacious locale.) The prices won't break the bank either. I just bought my second bike from there - a green mountain bike from CCM, that Canadian company that makes hockey equipment. It's a pretty sweet bike for $100. My last one was, too. It was an old 70s 3 speed with a big comfy seat and a glistening orange paint job that just looked like candy. Too bad it got ripped off. Oh well, that's life in the D. I won't pack it in, and I'm glad 3rd Ave won't either. I'm only knocking them down one star because of their paint selection. It's lousy and overpriced. Go somewhere else for paint.
