I bought a folding knife today at Home Depot. It has a security sensor on it to prevent shoplifting. After I purchased the knife, I asked the check out person to remove the sensor, to which she said she wasn't able to, and I had to do it at home. That doesn't make any sense. I went into this store located on 1919 N.Ciceo I saw how a manager name paula addressed a person of disability , she had a rolliator she was disabled , in front of customers on the floor told her not to come back to the store due to an incident that happened months ago , embarrassed the customer , I found out by the customer the incident was over her addressing register harassment , she showed me videos , not only that this manager Paula said it came from the store manager Ana Marie , she announced it loud enough so other customers can hear it , intimidation , humiliation , bullied this disabled person , you can see the whole group of employees lookers, as if they called each on walkies to witness the show, I did not see the customer disrespectful Paula , who made an announcement, so everyone other customer can hear ,she remain calm , would of been me, I would not not been as calm , the security a white female or possibly Latina pony tail , was being a narcist making fun of the person of disability saying that " is why you left yr recipt and dropped the receipt mind, you she is disabled, she laughed , it was disgusting to watch such a show of bullies and the female security which will name big foot , can tell by her white gym shoes that stood out , who walked around like she was initiating a bust out and a public show, walked over were the customer who was trying to get a copy of the receipt , said to the Manager by the name of Paula you ok ..as to intimidate this customer , who is disabled , the customer finally said something is there a problem , the security told her iam talking to her , the customer then proceeded to tell security , the manager is doing her job ,no shows here , you are coming over here to intimidate customer, and initiate a problem , then the customer dropped her receipt , while leaving the security saw the customer drop her receipt and laugh and the customer became upset called her an idiot , to make fun of a person who is disabled found out that this was over register harassment a employee by mistake accused of of not scanning an item months prior the young lady addressed the employee, called corporate , they did nothing , because she was called by a manager by name marie , who initiated her not to come back to in the store , over a complaint that is what yr stores are doing now banning customers , not a good money move , so that incident was months ago , she told the home depot employee, she was paying two ways , by cash and credit , the employee was right on top , the customer became upset , I don't blame her, they do this at this location , if Home Depot don't trust ur customer to scan , get rid of the scanning machines and have the employees ring customers up , the ones who walk around in the store doing nothing , this locations habits of being rude , disrespectful and the managers is covering up , bad behaviour , what I noticed , that a bunch up in groups to cover one another bad action , good way to get away with b* it's like a gang of liars and sh* starters , I wrote a review on their location 1919 N Cicero and they deleted the review , Home depot shame on you for not taking care the manager and these bullies of employees, starting with ur manager Marie disgusting, big cover up going on this store read more

They allow four seasons to send out a representative which scam me out of money told me that I needed a hot water tank then I needed a coil for my AC unit .paid for the coil didn't realize that my coil had a 12 year warranty which had an additional five more years on them . This is one of the worst Home Depot's. I was shopping for a gate. They had like six pieces. They were all damaged. I was looking for the posts. They have like three pieces all damage when I went to the register and asked them for the discount they give me an attitude, they said they cannot do that. I told the manager on duty bring merchandise. They said I can find another Home Depot for you, I just don't have time to shop at two or three Home Depot to get what I need ,so it's Ridiculous they don't care about their customers. This is not your father's Home Improvement Center, that's for sure; service has been deteriorating for years to the point of almost, non-existent. If you're lucky enough to find someone working, they tell you what you are looking for, could be found on aisle 7. On aisle 7 someone will send you to aisle 5, and there, they will assure you, what you're looking for is on aisle 6. By this time you realize you have to fend for yourself. God forbid they have to walk and find the item for you themselves!.   Then, when you decide to make a purchase, they want to hire you, without pay of course; essentially, as a thank you for being customer, you get to be your own cashier as well. Long gone are the days when you used to get not only full service but excellent advice for any project, and by a knowledgeable and experienced person. Sometimes you get unsolicited advice: as in the time I was looking for an specific type of screw; I asked for it with the proper material name type and size. The employee asked what I was using the screws for. I politely answered they were for a floating wood dance floor. The employee gave me a box of drywall screws and told me those were the screws used in my type of project. Needless to said, I walked away. I still patronize this place when I have to, since most of the customer oriented places have closed, having few choices; but when ever I can, I prefer to shop at the other big box home improvement center. The ones that still hire human cashiers. PS In a recent trip to home depot, right before I posted this review, I asked an employee for a gallon size of an specific brand and type of primer; he directed me to the end of the aisle from where he was standing. After a few minutes of looking and not finding it, I returned and told the employee I couldn't find the gallon size of the primer in question; he grunted and went looking. He found 1 can out of sight in the back of the bottom shelf. He told me "I told you it was here, you just have to look" I replied: isn't this what they pay you for?" I shouldn't have to circle the WHOLE store for assistance for a worker to tell me "I don't work in that area find someone else"! It took about 30 minutes just for someone to even say hi, after we asked for help, they decided to say someone will be with you shortly. We walked the entire store and yet no one was able to help us out. Finally a man comes and says, " oh have you been waiting long". Umm at this point we were very irritated and annoyed that we just said no worries. We showed this gentleman the items we were looking for and he was very insisting in selling us more expensive ones. I'm at the curbside pickup area and there are people just using these spaces as regular parking spaces. It is clearly not enforced by management that these spaces remain open for customers that want their items brought to them curbside. Every time I come here, it is like pulling teeth to get anyone to help me in the store. However, today there was 1 spot open for curbside pickup. I have yet to have a good experience at this Home Depot location. If you can ever find an employee, they are far too busy talking to each other to greet you, smile or ask if you need help finding anything. The cashiers have never asked "how are you" or said "thank you" and somehow they must all get breaks scheduled together because multiple times I have seen employees including "security" smoking cigarettes and listening to music on speakerphone directly in front of the store. Came in for some wood stain samples and the paint department worker Lilly was such a big help and incredibly nice. She helped me decide on my stain and made me 6 different samples really fast. Also called ahead twice to ask questions and everyone I spoke to was really polite and helpful on the phone. The line to checkout was super well orchestrated by the staff especially with social distancing in place. Really great staff. read more

I've come here sometimes when I order online and pick up here but this time I stopped by to buy some Air filters for my house. There are a lot of associates and this time they were all busy and did not offer to help but I didn't need the help anyway so no complaint here. I grabbed what I needed and got other things as well and left. They do have a large parking lot, they also offer rentals of tools as well as their trucks. FYI for rentals you need a credit card not just a debit card. They do have a large selection of things and specials. Will keep coming back. read more

This is the Home Depot closest to my new house, so I will refer to it always as "My Home Depot." They have EVERYTHING that every other HD has because it's the same gigantic warehouse size as all the other HDs in the universe. The layout of this store is a bit different than some, but you'll find what you're looking for if you just ask. I've always had EXCELLENT customer service here. The first time I came, needing a bunch of equipment to install closet rods and shelving, I was met with enthusiastic customer service from everyone we encountered. We talked a lot about what kinds of items to buy for new closets and then we were assisted in cutting pieces we needed in special sizes so they'd fit in all my spaces. A bit ago, I came in here to buy some wood pieces to do a repair and I happened to ask the manager of the lumber section if they have any scraps of wood they'd be willing to give a teacher (me) to make a door stop. The manager was so taken aback by the fact that our schools don't even have the money or supplies to help us prop doors open that he took a scrap of wood and cut it himself with a saw to make me a door stop, free of charge. That's great customer service! He also told me that they often get rid of a lot of scraps, so if our art teachers (or any teachers) needed scraps of lumber or other items we could come in with a donation letter and take things away. Awesome! I love this Home Depot. Everyone's always nice, they've never been out of anything I've needed, and there's always people to ask advice from if you aren't totally sure what kind of project you're really taking on. read more

I got this laser so that I could put up my frames. The sticker showed now 10.48 was 14.99... I payed for my items and went home. We search for some items and there not in our bags... they forgot to give us the last bag! We head back to the home depot to get the bag and the cashier laughed it off oh yeah, we forgot to give it to you.... no shit sherlock... did you think I came to see you? As I'm walking out I look at the reciept, they charged me 14.99 for the laser light thing... I go to returns and wait impatiently. The girl at the register is moving slower than a turtle. For every return she keeps calling a manager to get approval. So let me get this right! You're in Returns, meaning thats all you do, just returns... Why the hell doesn't a manager do it if you're going to keep calling him for the returns... It just didn't make sense to me. I had to wait just to get that extra money back about 20 minutes... 15 minutes just for them to look up the price... 35 minutes for an exchange that was there fault... Geezzzzzz. read more

Sandra is the most exceptional human being ever. She exudes kindness and professionalism and overall has such a nice demeanor. I needed carpet installed and the padding was incorrect. Sandra helped me in getting the correct padding and was so great in assisting me. She also helped me when the carpet wasn't what I thought it would be. The entire process was amazing only because I was dealing with Sandra. There are not enough kind words in the dictionary to describe this amazing women. Aside from Sandra being just awesome, this Home Depot is a favorite of mine. I come here often and it's never packed or too busy, and I'm always in and out very quickly. read more

I have waited 15-20 minutes to pay for three items, with only 3 people in front of me. I only go to menards when I have to stop at my rental property on my way to work. I tell you what, they have plenty of cashiers waiting to take care of you. Like I said I love the home depot, I've used you guys for over 15 years. I sure hope that you guys can address this problem. I somehow ended up in this neighborhood tonight. I dont know how, it just happened. And my friend needed boxes for his move this weekend and by the grace of cod we see none other than the bright orange beacon of light from the Home Depot. It's a sign! It's a miracle! We trot in with a mental list of his moving needs (boxes, tape, packing paper, shelving paper) and immediately find the boxes, tape and packing paper. Check, Check, Check. We maneuver around the store closer to the kitchen section with shelving paper on our mind. I get distracted looking at the mailboxes and my friend disappears in to the night. I start up and down the center aisle looking for him and in the distance see him cross the aisle. Target acquired. I continue lugging boxes and tape and a nice young lady Depot-er asked if I was with the tall guy with boxes and when I confirmed she steered me in his direction. Thanks! My friend and I are reunited. Time for check-out. For some reason we thought we could do the self check-out. It did not go well. Ashley was working the section and once she saw our confusion and ineptitude she happily came to our rescue with her scanner gun. She joked with us and picked up the packing paper that kamikaze-ed right out of the plastic bag I was instructed to hold. Plenty of parking. Nice employees. Decent prices. I did a lot of waiting. Spent about 5 hours of my day trying to get a grill, riding my bike to this store (after i was told on the phone they have the grill I wanted), trying to rent a van, riding home to get my car because I didn't have proof of auto insurance on me, and ultimately going back to discover i had been sold the wrong grill and to be told by the manager, Kevin, that I couldn't purchase the grill i had already payed for because it was unsafe. The manager never apologized to me for all of the trouble and seemed to try to ignore me when I approached him, even though the mistake was the stores. I've never felt so disrespected in a retail store. Luckily two employees, Maria & Barbie, treated me well. I think after I talk to Kevin's boss and to corporate that I'm going to avoid Home Depot like the plague. Even an occasional incredible deal isn't worth it. Today 9/28/18 I went into Home Depot around 7ish looking for childproof items. I was specifically looking to childproof my refrigerator. An associate saw me looking through Isles and asked if I needed some help. I mention that I was looking to childproof my refrigerator we went over to her computer to check if they had anything available in store she thought I had a child since I was looking to "childproof" my refrigerator I told her I was childproofing my house because my mom has dementia and she now has a habit of waking up at night (while I'm asleep) and taking the food out and hiding it in her bedroom and every morning before I leave to work I have to go through her room and take the stuff she has taken out of the refrigerator e.g eggs, milk, juices, frozen items etc and put them back in the fridge (it's an ongoing thing) I mention I take care of her and while I'm at work I have a homemaker that comes in. we spoke a bit more about my mom and she commended me on taking such a stressful responsibilities and how it's good to see a son taking care of his mother (I have 3 grown siblings who decided not to help me with caring for mom) moving forward we found the items and I decided to take three different refrigerator locks I ask if they didn't do the job wowould I be able to bring them back (I couldn't believe her response) she said just take them I was confused I said "just take them" she said "yes Because listening to your story and how you are taking care of your mother is amazing we need more men like you and here at HomeDepot we take care of each other" she walk me to the front and told security that I'm ok with those item she then ask was it ok to give me a hug I was trying so hard to hold back my tears as I hugged her because I've never experienced something like this and it just made me feel emotionally happy to know a complete stranger uplifted my spirits because taking care of a parent with dementia isn't easy. Only giving one star for the ONE employee to actually care and tried to assist in our situation. My father and I visited this location on Wednesday night for an Air Conditioner and paint supplies for a DIY project I had in mind. I could go on forever with the issues we had but to simplify it - my father cut himself while grabbing a cart for the items we needed. There was a jagged metal edge and it sliced his finger open. We attempted to get a band aid so he wouldn't be bleeding all over the store and to our surprise, everywhere we went, no employee could find the first aid kit. No one. Even management. Instead, at the second or third person he spoke with, which was a manager, they gave him gauze and masking tape. To secure a wound? That happened in your store? What type of poor customer service is this? Didn't even take down his information. What if the wound gets infected and we seek medical attention? At no point did they take the cart we used and have us get a new one. There's still a cart, with a jagged edge and a blood stain on it, waiting for someone else to get hurt with. The lackluster attitude her astounded me and my father. Spent $275 on an air conditioner and paint and then we received headaches, a little masking tape and gauze, and terrible customer service free of charge. We will never be visiting this location again. PS - other guests of this store, be careful with carts and customer service here; they're both dangerous to deal with. read more

My family buys mulch from Home Depot every spring. I Went in to purchase red mulch with my mother today. After checking out the different brands and prices we decided to try out the rubber mulch since it's supposed to last longer and the price was the same as the wood mulch. The sign read "RUBBER MULCH" and the price tag on the sign read "Vigoro Red-Colored Mulch 3.33 (3.00 Bulk)"... When we checked out, the mulch rang up for twice the posted price. The clerk was friendly and understanding. She called a manager to check the price. Two men arrived and we showed them the signage. The black gentleman went to check something and the Latino man stayed behind and started trying to feed us lies saying that the price tag wasn't wrong and they weren't done setting up and they were going to put a second tag on the other side of the sign... We were prepared to purchase the wood mulch if the store wouldn't honor the posted price, however I absolutely do not appreciate being lied to as if my mother and I are stupid.
