Dishonest! I wanted to replace a set of bifold closet doors. When I contacted Home Depot I provided them with the measurements that another company had already provided. I was told that they had to come to measure so fine. They did and someone was supposed to contact me within 2-3 business days. They did not so I reached out and finally contacted Joan Gomes. She spent a great deal of time 'trying to find' the right doors and offered me a $1000 door or for $372 or so I thought a mismatched pair of doors. When I said I was willing to consider the mismatched set all of sudden she is quoting me over $1000 for installation and the doors. When I ask for my $40 back because they don't have what I want I am told my fee is non-refundable. Well, if you don't have the product I told you in the first place that I wanted then I should get my money back! She was deceitful writing in her email to me that she was closing the case because of the cost. She didn't have the doors to fit my closet. Absolutely NEVER do a flooring job with Home Depot. I've had nothing but a half year of problems from start to finish. It all started with the flooring job order process. There is never anyone in the department to talk to. Then when someone does come they can't help because they have no idea what they're doing. So no one is working the job you need help with because they can't or won't staff their stores. Then, when I finally got someone to attempt to help, we ran into somany problems I had to call HD corporate to take care of it. After several hours of merely ordering a flooring job, a manager came over and was so rude to us we almost walked out. Then, the contractors they hired to install our flooring tried to get us to reschedule - with an added rescaling fee - because of an imaginary problem that my contractor said they made up. I finally had enough and kicked them out of my house. After 6 months of HD bullshit, I still don't have my flooring installed. NEVER AGAIN - the overwhelming incompetence is astounding. read more

This was our formal complaint: We are writing to express our extreme disappointment and dissatisfaction with your service protection plan. We purchased a 1200 dollar Samsung refrigerator and a 195 dollar service protection plan 3 years ago. This refrigerator has been leaking inside for months and I called about one month ago to try to get someone in to fix it. I spent hours on the phone trying to get someone to come to my house and was told I had to wait over 3 weeks. I contacted the service provider directly to explain the problem with the refrigerator and request they bring any needed parts to fix the refrigerator during their visit as we are going out of the country for 6 months and will be renting our house. It became immediately evident that this was a second rate service provider. I made an appointment regardless but requested that Home Depot find another service provider to come in sooner. Home Depot proceeded to cancel my original appointment without telling me and the only way I found this out is because I called the original service provider and they told me Home Depot cancelled it. That they did this without my consent or without a phone call to advice me is simply unacceptable. Now we are going out of the country and have no one to fix this leaking refrigerator. We called your service protection line and got a petty apology and were told all they could do was set up another appointment in 2 weeks time. Let me just say that frankly your protection service plan is a joke and from now on we will not be buying any appliances from Home Depot and will make a post on all social media outlets advising people who buy appliances from you to buy the service plans directly from the manufacturer and not from you. Home Depot would not deliver to my house. Like many in Cambridge, MA, I live on a one way street with on street parking. I also have a driveway. But Home Depot would not deliver my appliance. The first attempted delivery was aborted because the truck was too big and could not find parking. After speaking with the Home Depot expediter, we made arrangements for a second delivery attempt and agreed that I would have cars saving spaces for the delivery truck that would then quickly move upon arrival. I worked quite hard to arrange with neighbors to help with this. But, the truck never called, never delivered, and just said they could not delivery to my house. I'm not sure why. I called to inquire about my order, and was told if I wanted my appliance I would have to come pick it up myself. I then canceled my order. Terrible experience! We renovated our kitchen through this HD and they were less than helpful. The first hiccup occurred when no one could provide an answer regarding when and who would deliver our sink (simple answer, the granite company HD contracted out). You would've thought I was asking them how to solve an advanced calculus equation in their head. It took 30 minutes of being passed from employee to employee and three phone calls to get the final answer. Next, the granite. Ohhhh the granite. First off, the company they contract out has TERRIBLE customer service. They don't return calls and they do NOT work with your schedule. They give you a ridiculous 3 hour window that they don't let you know about until the day prior, which is usually at an inconvenient time for anyone who works (they're only open M-F 9-5). Well when they finally installed our granite the pieces were too big. You would think they would shave it down, but no. They were too lazy and took the easy way out. They moved and unbolted our previously installed cabinets and wedged the large granite pieces in, resulting in our cabinets bending and our wall to gap. When we called to have it fixed we did not get a return call. When they finally came they questioned us and said that our contractor did a poor job. They also didn't believe me that the pieces were off. Luckily their manager came out to our site and things were fixed. Thank you, Nick. Keep in mind, we had to reschedule plumbing, tiling, and painting due to their mistake and take additional days off of work. When I called to let the manager, Jim, at HD know about the poor job the granite company they contracted out did (and how it inconvenienced us), he could've cared less. He said that their contract says that things will go wrong (understandable) but that the outside contractors are allowed 3-4 times to get it right!!!!! So if you enjoy having your project (that you spent thousands of dollars on) done incorrectly 3-4 times, this HD is for you. Also, keep in mind that the initial estimate one our granite was off by $550. Even though we had the exact measurements for the initial estimate, it still ended up being 17+ percent off. He then let me know that they expect their estimates to be 10-15% off, so expect to pay extra due to their poor estimates. Bottom line, this HD does not value customer service nor quality work. For our next project were just gonna go to Lowes, and you should do the same. read more

It always has plenty of parking. And it keeps great hours. Past that, it has a pretty good garden section. They seem to have almost everything I seem to need in stock at all times. It is a construction warehouse where you can walk in, eventually find some cheap tools or supplies and then return to your job site, even if that job site is your own home. It is a decent starting point if you need simple supplies right away, or have no experience with the more specialized hardware community, but it usually posts its familiar, orange logo in convenient locations, so why not? Well, a good reason is that you can never find an clerk when you need one. Prepare to wander the aisles looking for either your product or a clerk, or both, because this is a place where you are mostly expected to help your self. Even when you find some one, they are probably not from the right department, so they can just call some one else who will take another twenty minutes to come and help you. Another beef I have is you can view product stock for a particular store online, which sounds great. Verify that they have what you need before going over there. So I go to the store for a box of particular screws, and can not find what I need personally, but online it is still listed. I decide to do the next best thing, and order it online so that the staff can retrieve it, and I can pick it up the next day. That sounds reasonable enough, right? Nope, they just call me to say that the product is actually out of stock, and cancel my order. So then I check the stock at a nearby store, place the same order, and get it fulfilled. Sure, it would have been great if this first store had called around for a product before cancelling my order, but why not take the easy way out? Make me do the work to compensate for your inaccurate inventory system. So with Home Depot just be prepared for all of the laziest help you can get if you need it. You are your own cavalry, so get in there, get out, and find better alternatives for your construction supplies next time. read more

I have gone as far as Atlanta Georgia for help and I have gotten the run around. I have been passed around like a football in a game. Homedepot takes no ownership or responsibility for poor workmanship or for there contractors. They give you the line about our customers come first we will contact your area manager. When the area GM contacts you and says I will get someone out there. It sounds and then they avoid fixing the job that was done incorrectly or they tell you it's because of something else that caused the problem. So please take heed do not get new Windows doors vinyl siding gutters or a new roof. Because when your windows start to leak and your door frame starts to come away from the frame and the gutters they put up start to leak and the vinyl siding starts to pull away from your house. The only response you will hear is my schedule is full and I am over work and short handed but I will get back to you here is my number and they answer then reschedule and reschedule and then they tell you winter time is coming and I am overwhelmed and they tell you they don't know when they will get to you so give them a call,and when u try to call again you go right to voice mail. I have been in the South Bay Home Depot at least six times this past week as I purchased items to prepare an apartment for rent. Each time I encountered the most helpful, knowledgeable, and pleasant employees that I have in any Home Depot over the last 15 years. The staff was full of young people who were all willing to show you to a product or to explain the things you needed to complete the job. They mixed paint, cut wood & blinds, helped with plumbing supplies & more. This is a busy store and I am thoroughly impressed with the service I received. Kudos to the staff. For this review, please keep in mind that we literally live within a 5 minute drive from the South Bay Home Depot. As in we've walked there before. On 12/30/2017 we ordered a fridge from the South Bay Home Depot because our current one broke down and no longer refrigerates properly. The order went through very quickly and a delivery was scheduled for 1/4/2018. So far so good. Of course it doesn't get delivered that day, but after we call to ask they tell us they changed the delivery date to 1/6/2018. They even called us to let us the night before to let us know that the fridge would be delivered between 10am-2pm. Still not too bad. But of course nobody shows up. After contacting support and being put on hold twice they try to put the blame on GE for "not delivering the fridge to the warehouse" on time. We're not too happy with Home Depot anymore. After complaining to them again, they rescheduled the delivery to 1/10/2018. Lo and behold the delivery guys show up... but refuse to deliver the fridge! Something about there being no parking on our street (there was, just farther down) and that parking on the main road (which is 20 feet away) wouldn't work because there was "too much snow". Seriously?? We live in New England. Why even bother opening during the winters? Anyway, it's now 1/13/2018 and we've been on hold trying to contact the Customer Support line for over an hour. And every minute we're reminded that our "call is very important" to them! Sure... maybe it's important to them, but it'd be nice if they let is show! In conclusion, I'd absolutely recommend ordering a fridge from Home Depot in the future, so long as you're OK with continuing to let your food rot because they can't get their act together enough to deliver it! read more

Who had a stellar experience at the South Bay Home Depot?? This girl did. All my trips to this Home Depot haven't been this good...in fact most of them have been less than good. On Saturday though I went to buy some pavers to make border along my garden. I was helped by Steven Edwards. HE asked ME if I needed help! I feel that's mostly unheard of at this Home Depot. He was soooo helpful. He loaded up all the pavers for me and then did it all over again when I had to make a return trip (my sedan wasn't going to support the entire 500lbs of all the pavers at once, so had to make a return trip). He was gracious and funny and so kind. Oh and they were grilling up hamburgers and hotdogs for customer appreciation day! I'm a veg, so didn't partake, but what a nice gesture!! read more

The manager told me we were out of luck since the electrical guys wasn't working today. I would first like to apologize for wasting the valuable time of the employees that work here. I never should have tried to give you my money. I understand that Home Depot is one of the best Felon employers in the country, but they should be thankful for their employment. I know from personal experience that most inmates that get released immediately run to Home Depot, and this particular store sees most of that traffic. The employees act as if they're still inmates with GPS bracelets, and anything involving looking up from a smartphone is terribly bothersome. Again, I apologize for trying to give you my money. I had the unfortunate experience of having to work with two Home Depots on a recent order for a washer and dryer. The items were ordered from one, but delivered from this location. Had several issues with getting the items delivered/installed. Had to place three different orders, and I will admit, we had our measurements wrong on the first time. It's the way it was handled from then on that was a disappointment. After over a month we still don't have a washer and dryer and I had to cancel my last order and go to Lowe's. We hired home depot contractors because we thought they would be reliable. Instead, of all the contractors we worked with, HomeDepot Contractors were terrible in reliability. 1. We hired kitchen cabinets installation. It took a long time to schedule these guys to do the job and they cancelled many time or just didn't show up. It took may complaint to Home Depot to get our cabinets installed. These people lie about how long it takes to get a permit. It only takes 20minutes to get a building permit, but they will tell you it takes weeks or months. They did good work but it took too much time and money. Next time we would not go with Home Depot. 2. Door installation contractor also said it takes weeks to get a permit. They finally admitted that was a lie. It amazes me that after MULTIPLE negative reviews, the Home Depot in Boston continues to utilize The Spirit Delivery Company, which, as multiple other reviewers have noted is absolutely AWFUL. There is no excuse for this. TH's review from 1/14/2014 almost exactly mirrors my experience FOUR years later. Let me outline the ways this went horribly awry: 1. We scheduled our delivery a month in advance to occur on Saturday from 11am-3pm. On the delivery day, we got a call at 8:30am stating-- "We are in your neighborhood and will be there to deliver in 30 minutes." Umm, ok. They arrive and immediately say they cannot deliver the stove, washer, and dryer I purchased because there is no parking. I say, let me move my car-- you can park there and block my driveway (there was more than enough space for the 26' truck). He tells me he can't do that. He states he has to call his manager, leaves my condo, and drives away. I then spend an hour knocking on doors in my neighborhood to get folks to move their vehicles, so there's an official large parking spot. My husband calls Spirit Delivery back at 10:30am and says we have a parking spot available now for our scheduled 11am-3pm delivery time. He is told the delivery men are no longer in our neighborhood and the next available delivery is Tuesday morning. He talks to multiple people at Spirit including the manager Suzanne and the representative Chantel. They were totally unhelpful and offered no recourse. They hung up on him and at a certain point, when he called, his call was immediately routed to be on hold and then after a few minutes the on hold music stopped and the line went silent (they were screening his call). Then, when I called from a different number, they picked up. They then were rude to me and told me all of this was my fault because I should have known they would be arriving in a 26' truck and I should have gone and purchased a parking permit for their truck (sorry, how should I have known this?). They then "transfer" me to their manager, which involved the on hold music for a few minutes, then silence, then a dial tone. Wow, truly the worst customer service ever! 2. They reschedule us for Tuesday morning. Then, they called us Monday night to let us know they would be coming Tuesday afternoon instead. Cool bro, thanks for telling us then, after we already requested vacation time for Tuesday morning, not the afternoon. 3. On Tuesday, they delivered our washer and stove (unbeknownst to us, they were unable to connect the stove as per MA law-- hey HD, you should mention that on your website so we would've booked a plumber in advance!). Oh, and the dryer, they somehow broke it. I don't have any way of knowing whether this is the case, but it wouldn't surprise me if they broke it intentionally, after we complained so much to them and to HD. It felt a little too coincidental. 4. Separate from Spirit's terrible customer service, we've now been told this dryer is on back order and we will not be able to get it replaced until May 31 (30 days from now). Oh, and none of the HD's within 50 miles have this dryer in stock. 5. Home Depot has not offered us anything to compensate for lost vacation time due to Spirit's incompetence, or just the general headache and unnecessary nonsense associated with this whole experience. What's most frustrating is that there is no incentive to change. Home Depot can throw up their hands and say it's not on them-- it the contractor's (Spirit Delivery) fault and Spirit Delivery has NO incentive to change (i.e., they have been doing this for at least 4 years as per the review below from 2014), given their AWFUL customer service does not affect their bottom line. I get it, delivering appliances is probably an awful job. I assume it's minimum wage, crappy hours, that the delivery men are constantly overbooked, and unable to really do their jobs effectively. At the same time, this is not my problem. There is literally nothing I can do to solve this. I would willingly pay $100-200 for concierge delivery service, rather than submitting to this type of delivery option again. I will NEVER order an appliance from HD in the Boston area again, given this experience. read more

Also, the local hardware is closed on Sunday, when I have a tendency to urgently need things. The only positive about Home Depot is that it's walking distance from my house. This place is so dirty and dusty; someone needs to seriously clean it! This place wouldn't be so big (read: giant maze) if it weren't full of useless crap. So I ordered appliances from Home Depot as a Christmas surprise for Mother. Gas Stove, Refrig and Micro. The service I received from Home Depot was excellent. Ordering Scheduling perfect. Where things fell off a Cliff was when SPIRIT DELIVERY got involved(The company Home Depot uses for their deliveries). Day of delivery, Gas Stove was unhooked as required, Items removed from Refrig and Freezer. I Took off work to make sure things went smoothly. Had cleared with neighbor to use driveway as needed and parking spots held with vehicles. Alex the driver was to deliver in the afternoon...Instead of stopping, calls from the truck after blowing by. " Sorry cant deliver as when I drove by there was no place to stop my truck, got a 26 foot truck!"...I said whatttt??? I instructed him to return and we would move the vehicles for him as we had planned. His response "sorry, gotta have clear spots when I drive by or I cant stop." He pretty much wanted a red carpet rolled out and a six pack chilled or he wasn't stopping. I then Spent the rest of the afternoon on the phone with Spirit delivery begging them to come back, but to no avail. You get 1 chance and that is it. There response, "We can reschedule again within 24 to 48 hours". Meanwhile food is spoiling and no gas stove to use for the next 24-48 as it had been disconnected. So the next day I get a call from the leader at Spirit Delivery, Dominic. What a prick he was. Zero apologizes, just a promise he will deliver in the next 2 days as that is what Home Depot requires him to do, or he could drop them at the store for me to pick up myself! (Isn't that sweet) Told him I was extremely displeased about the service and that they should have returned that day. His response as I was upset and was detailing the nightmare of a delivery the day before. " That is not here nor there, I am going to end this call" He obviously spends his day telling Home Depot Customers off as he was very experienced at it. He should be working in a back of the house position as his Customer service skills were around a negative 10. So on a brighter note, 2 days later just in time for Christmas, we received the appliances by a different delivery crew that was extremely nice and accommodating. They had zero problems parking their 26 foot truck with the exact same situation.
