Currently I interviewed for two other opportunities within the last week and they have strong promise. Liz, Michelle and Jojo have been great to deal with. It's very easy to keep the communication channel open and active to get status reports of how interviews and resumes went. I've been paid efficiently and on time. I realize that times are difficult, but there are jobs out there and utilizing the job shop is a great first step.

I was hoping Jojo was going to make things better when we did finally get to the appointment. I finally met Jojo and mentioned not a great first impression, let's change the energy. To which he said, "up to you, register or not" - say less. I literally teed up a perfect moment for you to demonstrate your organizations values, shake it up, change the energy and you don't care ... gotcha. No humanity, very low people skills ... hard pass.

From the moment I joined the video interview, it was clear that my presence was not welcomed with the same openness or interest as one would expect in a fair hiring process. The conversation was cut abruptly short lasting less than a minute, with no genuine attempt to engage or understand my background, despite my extensive qualifications. It was difficult not to notice how quickly I was dismissed, and I left the conversation feeling that my identity as a woman of color may have played a role in how I was treated. Representation matters but only when it's backed by action, respect, and equitable treatment. This experience made me question the branch's commitment to true inclusion and its approach to recognizing real talent. To future candidates, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds I urge caution. And to the leadership: do better. Melissa Buccino do better! Talent comes in many forms, and every candidate deserves a fair shot and a respectful conversation. Remember agencies aren't in it to keep their temp/perm employees happy they are in to keep their corporate clients happy and they want to look good in the eyes of their corporate buds.
