Unfortunately the first room had a plumbing problem but a change of room was immediately offered. The second room was fine but a little dated. That said everything was clean and the bed comfy. There is a small bar at the front of the hotel and looks over the park, I had a couple of pints before dinner. The food was all home cooked and excellent quality. I started with pate and had a main of ham egg and chips. Large brandy followed and off to bed. Must make special mention of the breakfast it was one of the nicest full English I ever had. Proper sausage and bacon with black pudding and poached egg. Perfect! I would stay here again no problem. B&B was £120. Dinner about £35.

The hotel is nestled on a gorgeous lake that offers breathtaking views of Snowdonia's mountains and green valleys. Even in the end of Fall when we visited, the soothing fog enveloped the lake which made for an enchanting experience. The manager Malcolm, himself, swims in the lake in most seasons. Malcolm and his entire staff always went out of their way to accommodate our group. This is a must-visit spot owned by wonderful and caring people. I couldn't give this hotel a higher review and I truly look forward to our next visit.

The pictures you see in the booking sites are a good likeness of what is there. It is secluded and has great views over the lake (which they also own). Not all rooms have views of the lake. Our room was small, but fresh and comfortable with an excellent ensuite. There are plans to restock the lake for fly fishing. Would certainly go there again. We had dinner three times and every meal was excellent. The only downside is wifi performance - which is dire, but you might consider that an advantage!

Ordering lunch from the bar was a good option. They make a great, traditional egg sandwich. It's delicious. Also, the bar tender made great mixed drinks. I suggest that if you stay here while in Wales.... make sure you visit the pubs. It's a super cheap taxi ride into town. If you golf, you are at the right place. If you want a super quiet place to rest and escape: this is your place. If you need a place to stay while enjoying the town and hiking or riding a steam engine up to Snowden Mountain... this is a good option for you. But remember, while there are great views and an ok bed... this place is no frills, not elegant or "happening". Oh, and I think the waitstaff need to hide their disdain for serving Americans under the age of 50.... just a little. Otherwise, the staff were kind and helpful. Cheerio.

Rating on behalf of the rentals, because I think the place deserves it, (and I paid!)…read more I bought my mother (and father) a stay here for her birthday- they like walking, and can never pick between seaside and country, so I thought this was a good bet. I got them a walker's package, that included breakfast (the full welsh, was apparently great, but enormous), dinner (not limited in any way, three courses if you wished, just a little extra for side dishes) and a packed lunch with a choice of sandwiches, crisps, a frobishers juice and and enormous hunk of cake. Rooms were comfortable, bathrooms were clean. The only slightly negative point that was made, was that you didn't feel like you wanted to have a nightcap- as although the staff were fantastic, they cleaned down early and "seemed like they wanted to get home" which is certainly fair enough- so if you like a last orders whisky, it may be best for you to pack a bottle and use a glass in the room!

The staff are friendly and helpful and toilet facilities are ok. The real draw to coming here is the outside terrace and its postion in the town. You can sit on the rear terrace in lovely sunshine (well obviuosly not every day!!) and enjoy a pint looking out over the harbour. Unfortunately on really lovely days in the summer it can get quite busy outside, but I do thinkit is worth hanging around in the hope of grabbing a table to be able to relax with glorious veiws for an hour or so.

It really is the place to go in the Summer, people are spilling out of it clutching their drinks and the atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly. If you do manage to get a table to eat in the restaurant the food will not disspoint you. Most of it seems to be locally sourced and it has a very good and quite informative menu. It is a bit pricey, but its still a good place to go for a special occassion. I have taken my 2 oldest children there (8 & 6 years) and they enjoyed it but I don't think I'd want to take my younger two there as it would be too stressful. I've never stayed in the hotel but have heard that it is very nice, the photos in the brochure certainly seem good and it is in an amazing postion.

Between the 5 of us we covered most of the menu, and no-one had a bad word to say. We didn't have any starters, and only I had a desert which was the home-made honey cake. Again, delicious. The only problem was the long time it took for our drinks and the bill to come. We also asked for more drinks during our meal, but none ever arrived. It was obvious that they were very busy, but I could see staff at the bar that I'm sure could have brought drinks over. Don't be too put off though, for the food and the price, we would definitely go back.
