The Hat in Upland has been our go to spot since this location hasn't been as flavorful for a while. Decided to give it another shot tonight. The last time we were here we had order issues, tonight we had the same issue with the same person (younger male with Glasses) taking the order. I should have checked the order before leaving. I've been holding back on writing a review for this location, but after today I feel like I have to say something. I pulled up to The Hat here in Rancho Cucamonga by Victoria Gardens and the drive-through wait was insane. We waited about 20 minutes just to get our order, which is already pretty frustrating. What made it more disappointing was the fries. They were soggy, wet, and undercooked. Unfortunately, this isn't the first time it's happened either. If customers are going to wait that long for their food, the least that can be done is making sure the fries come out hot, crispy, and properly cooked. To be fair, not everything was bad. The pastrami was great and the hot dog was great--I'd easily give those an 8/10. That's actually why I keep coming back. But the fries really need improvement. If you're going to have people sitting in the drive-through for 20 minutes, the food should come out right. The Hat can definitely do better than that. read more

Pretty cool joint! We went through the drive through on our way back home on a road trip and it was an unexpected find since we were near the shopping area nearby. The drive thru call is really staticky so it was a little hard ordering, but not a huge deal. The food came out and the line went by really fast. We got the pastrami sandwich and the pastrami chili cheese fries. Holy moly, the fries are HUGE! It's definitely enough to share with 4 people if you really wanted to. It comes in two drink containers, so fyi if you're trying to bring it somewhere since it doesn't close. The sandwich was nice and simple and had a good amount of meat in it. Drive thru is not the fastest but it's a great convenience. Located in front of Victoria gardens and off the 15 fwy. Plenty of parking. Inside was packed as well which is always a great sign. The food survived a 40 minute drive and still tasted amazing so I can only imagine eating it fresh. The chili cheese fry portion is very generous, easily feeding 4 adults. Now the pastrami dip sandwich...holy. Simple little thing right, the pastrami between two slices dipped in the juices, some mustard and pickles. I came here specifically for the chili cheese fries after seeing all the hype online. The place was busy, but that wasn't the issue. After waiting 10-15 minutes just to order, I was given ticket #78. My number was completely skipped -- I heard 76, 77, then 79, 80, and even numbers into the 80s. I finally had to ask what happened to my food. Turns out my ticket had been sitting there untouched the whole time. Once they realized the mistake, the food was thrown together. The person assembling it looked confused about which "chili pot to get my order from" (yes it was 2 pots) to use. And honestly, what I got was not chili. It tasted like refried beans with chili seasoning dumped on fries, topped with cheese. For almost $12, this was disappointing and not even close to what chili cheese fries should be.
