My son is always chasing the best food hot spots around the San Bernardino area, so when we saw how busy it was on a Friday night, we knew we had to see what the hype was about. My husband and I recently stopped into Chubby's Hot Chicken for the first time after seeing some videos on social media about them. Definitely a solid spot for some hot chicken in Fontana. We came in on a weekday around dinner and they were pretty empty. Staff were friendly and patient with our questions. Our order consisted of a Mild #1 (two sandwiches and fries) and a Lite #4 (two tenders and fries). The chicken was tasty on both combos: fried crispy and juicy on the inside. Definitely good size pieces in the sandwiches and tender combos. The only gripe we have is that the spice level seemed to be off. The tenders were ordered to be 'lite' spice, but there was honestly no difference between that spice level and the 'mild' spice level in the sandwiches. I have a pretty low tolerance for spicy food and can handle a little kick. I could barely finish the two tenders and had to give most of the second one to my husband. Let's start off with the great customer service, the lady working in the front was helpful and very nice. They are fairly quick with the orders which was a plus. I order the mild heat for both the Sando and tender (this was the only complaint I had, the mild felt like very hot, so make sure you tell them to keep it low on the heat if you can't do spicy. Other than that the sandwich was fresh, juicy, the slaw worked perfectly (I would've preferred a bit more pickles), the tender was also very tasty, seasoned well but man spicyyyy!. The building is beautiful, the space is clean, and the atmosphere has the potential to elevate a dining experience. However, the service and food execution did not match the environment.
