Last two times I've tried stopping in for a drink ended the same: me leaving because I couldn't get service. The most recent time bring last night when I was in the area visiting my dad, and tried stopping in for a beer to keep my buzz going. I waited a good 15 minutes and neither bartender acknowledged me. It was Friday night. Before Christmas. It was kinda busy. Yeah yeah I get it. But a "hello, be with you in a minute", hell even just a glance and nod would've went a long way. I walked out. Shout out to the guy a spot over from me who noticed me waiting that entire time and *tried* to get a bartenders attention on my behalf. I try to be respectful of bartenders who don't like being yelled at and aggressively flagged down when they need a drank, so your boy sits their patiently with his money in hand. In turn I wait longer than most would. But this was too damn much. Ya'll should know how to handle a crowd by now. I've been here enough in the past to know it gets busy on weekends. Your bartenders shouldn't appear this out of sorts, ignoring people and letting money walk out the door. Get your sh*t together. read more

This has been a Hang out for the last 20+ years in the neighborhood. Always Known for there Customer Service and of Course there Wings! There is now New Management and the upgrades were definitely needed but in doing so have raised the prices and the cook (Macario) that was there from the beginning Making the amazing wings is No Longer there because of a dispute about wages. If you have been here before you can definitely tell the food is NOT Nearly at the same level as it once was and last couple times I waited over 10 minutes before I could even get a beer. If I wanted fancy burgers or Vegetables I would have went to Coopers Hawk etc. The one place I can meet old friends for a cheap Beer and some good grub is No Longer & we have started to go to a local bar in Schiller Park where the food and Drinks are 100% better and there is plenty of staff to help everyone read more

WOMEN BEWARE. A friend of mine was rufied here in 2009 and then assaulted by 2 guys. The police did very little to investigate. I personally never had any major problems when I went, but I always went with guy friends who I trusted. So just be careful. I'll never set foot in this place again. I used to go to The Mad Tapper whenever I visited my friend that lived in Northlake. Every time, I'd ask myself: [1] Why would anyone ever want to live in Northlake? (no offense, of course); and [2] Why are there people here that are absolutely shizz-faced at 4:00 p.m.? What did I miss? Nowadays, working just next to Northlake, when I pass the Mad Tapper (or "Mad Taps" as we used to call it; we were dorks), I ask myself: [1] Why would anyone ever want to work just next to Northlake?; and [2] Why am I on an errand after work and not sitting in The Mad Taps, already drunk at 4:00 p.m.? I ask myself that second question because, for what it is, The Mad Tapper is a fun little bar. The clientele are, um, interesting; the drinks are affordable; and it's divey without being thoroughly creepy. I haven't been there since the ownership changed hands, but, for me, it's definitely worth returning to. Unfortunately, my friend that lived in Northlake no longer lives in Northlake, and, well, I can't yet justify calling friends or family to come pick me up in Northlake because I've been bombed at Mad Taps since 4:00 p.m. But, believe me, I'm working on reasons. read more

Can't give a zero star it won't let me. Half the tables are closed, 5 servers and bartenders are standing around upstairs doing nothing, wish I would have taken a picture. Had four kids under 10, said I would come to the bar for all the food. They gave zero help, they are at capacity they said. I wAnt a direct message from a manager. For your run of the mill dive bar the Mad Tapper actually has some pretty good food. Wing Wednesday's are a favorite. I'd be more than happy to pay regular price for these lil bits of chicken heaven but on Wednesday they're only .35¢ They have a great variety of sauces. I prefer the hot BBQ. Absolutely phenominal for a percieved dive bar. Yes, it is under new ownership with a little darkness and a lot of dankness but it is AWESOME. The new owner is friendly, personable, and hard working (she doesn't use her good looks as a what can you do for me attitude). Her bartenders are friendly and they all keep to a local atmosphere. I recommend this place to any and all who want a few beers, shots, laughs, and fun. Food is good but I wouldn't bring a child in on a Saturday afternoon because it is still a little rough around the edges! read more

The Mad Tapper is our sponsor for our softball team. I try to come after every game, unless its too late. I like it here. it's not fancy, but there are lots of TVs to watch and games to play. They have pool, darts, & the punching bag game! They always have good drink specials, I think it's $13 for a domestic bucket right now. That's a pretty good deal. The food here is also a lot better than you would think for a bar. The wings are great. I love hot, saucy, bar wings and this is the spot for them. Why go to wing stop across the street when you can come to the tapper for a beer & wings & fun. read more

Ever since the new owner this place just keeps going downhill:( .. Every time we've been there in the last year, there's only like 20 people there. Last night I decided to have my bday party there, since its a local place. There was only one bartender who was completely overwhelmed by how many people were there. I felt bad for her. I talked to the DJ and bouncer and they said another bartender was on the way. By now most of my friends are pissed.. No one can get a drink or they're being charged for the wrong things... Its nearly 12 and the other bartender still hasn't made it... Finally when all my friends say we've had it! Were leaving! I see the owner walk in.... I rush over and tell everyone to relax cuz now that anetas here... It'll be ok! Yea sure. We ordered 2 drinks and 6 chilled shots from the owner. She said she wouldn't chill them. I was like ? Ummm... You can chill the shots or were ALL leaving. She refused. So like 30people walked out the door. Are you kidding me? No wonder its always dead there if that's how the owner treats customers! This is one you might want to give a second chance, I did, after not going there for over a year and a half. Place is much cleaner, and friendlier, than in the recent past. I honestly don't write reviews often, but after last night July 24th I feel compelled to share my review. My wife and I had talked about checking this place out in the past, so last night we decided to go in. It wasn't busy at all, but we thought the place had potential. Then we met the bartender... She was one of the rudest people in the service industry I have ever met, not to mention the probability that she was self medicated is very high. They made last call while my wife was in the bathroom. When she came back she asked if she could have a drink. The bartender refused to give her one, even though she had just served one of her regular patrons his last drink. We were probably there for 30 minutes total, and that was already too long. In conclusion, we will never be coming back and do not recommend this place to anyone. The customer service in this place is non existent. So, if you want to go out and have a good time go somewhere else! read more

I love this place! If you want fancy decorations and candles then go downtown but if you want a real bar, real food and really good music then come here. They have the best karoake around (fri&sat)! It's not only karoake or country, they play all the new hits & dance music! The wings, chicken melts, nachos, chips and salsa, patty melts, steak sandwiches ... ect, are Fantastic! What a night mare. We went there with a party and we even called ahead and reserved tables. The bar was very dirty, the pool table broke meaning the balls were getting stuck inside. The bartender fixed it by removing the side panel and throwing it under the table. The cook who happens to be new was a little slow and the only food you could get was chicken fingers some wings and fries. The DJ was very late he had a hard time getting the speakers to work and once he did no one had any idea what the music was even after some requests he acted like he didn't know what your talking about. He seemed more interested in standing by the bar with his girlfriend who was totally rude. The bartender was way over pouring on the drinks by putting at least 3 shots in the glasses. They ran out of the most popular mixes like Jack Daniels and Hennessey. We had to take our party to another because it was so bad there. Sad to say we have been going there for years and have spent a lot of money at tapper but this will be our last time because we will no longer go there nor will we recommend it to any one. read more
