So I read a prior review of someone who drove from the SF Bay Area to pick up a bike from these…read morefolks, and can concur - great experience! I was trying to pick up a couple of Specialized Turbo Kenevo bikes and most everywhere was out-of-stock because of the big sale they were having ($9000 MSRP down to $5800). Eventually did get what I wanted - but could only have them delivered and was shopping around for a great shop to set them up, test ride and go. Well, found the folks at Siskiyou Cyclery. Usually I'm heading further north to Medford, but the plan was to also enjoy Oregon and take a visit to Crater Lake. These folks are conveniently located near middle of Ashland. They're on a main road so you will have an easy time finding them (and turning around if you miss). Parking is nice - there's two spots on the road in front of the shop, parking in the back and next door parking if you have a larger vehicle as well. Inside, it's a bike shop. Nothing fancy. What is nice is that while I was waiting, I saw one mom bring her kids (6?) bike in because of a flat. I saw another guy just wander in needing a derailleur. Very low-key and friendly in terms of "sure, drop it off and come back this afternoon" and no, I didn't feel I was being blown off while they got those folks in and out. When I was picking up the Kenevo's, engaged in light conversation and they knew their stuff. "What is the bottom bracket of the e-bike?" or "what is the largest chain ring I can run?" plus they got into the conversation of what e-bike rules are locally, which varies crazily for USDA and USFS along NP land. Grabbed a bike, after it being set up and went for a quick ride. You can go right out the door, and then right again to head towards Starbucks. You can stay on that same road the shop is on for a long and level ride. You can go straight out and head up some minor inclines (not 10 ring stuff, but middle cog, haha) Paperwork was easy, in and out basically. You're not going to be stuck there while they treat you like a baby explaining how the dropper seat post works, or how to charge up your e-bike - unless you want to be. Overall, because "Oregon" and "Ashland" convenience, this is a great shop to stop by, get repairs or parts, and enjoy the Ashland scenery!

I found that I was leaning heavily on my hands and was causing bicyclist palsy. It was suggested that I have new handle bars installed so I would have to lean forward so much and my bicyclist palsy has disappeared! Gayle wants a bike for Christmas. And not just any bike. It has to be the right color, have a…read more"girl" bar and have thick tire for street riding. So as much as I'd like to surprise her with a bike and a bow under the tree, that's not going to happen, unless I enjoy seeing my Lovely Bride's disappointed face. When we were in Ashland last week, I walked Gayle over to Ashland Cycle Sport. Gayle was hesitant as she didn't want to lead anyone on regarding a sale. She also started to feel guilty about possibly cheating the State of California out of sales tax revenue when Cities like Walnut Creek needed the revenue. I simply told here that if she found a bike that that was the right match for her, we would buy it right then and there, and store it in back of our small SUV and take it home. It's easy for me to get intimidated at bike shops as it's a language I don't speak and I'm sensitive to the judgmental attitudes that are sometimes found within. That was definitely not the case at Ashland Cycle Sport. The Dude who met with us was both helpful and polite and did a good job running us through the various street bike and hybrid options. One downside of all this is that Gayle left even more confused about what she wanted. Well at least, I now know her boundaries! Thank You Ashland Cycle Sport for putting us on the right road. I'll try to return the favour on the next bike we need.

Great service, best bike shop in town. Sometimes there is a dog in there, he is so sweet.read more

CARELESS SERVICE WITH TOTAL DISRESPECT OF CUSTOMER'S TIME & SNOTTY ATTITUDE…read more ALSO THEIR "FREE" ONE-TIME TUNE-UP IS A SCAM Bought a brand new bike from here and they promised me a free tune-up and said to bring it in after a month for that "free" tune-up. Brought it in the other day and I had collected a list of 4 items that were tune-up related that were really out of tune. Turned my bike to a British sounding gentleman which I thought might be the owner, I texted him my list of tune-up related issues and he showed me the phone and said "Got it, we'll take care of it", I even explained to him each of the following items directly to him in person: * Something is rubbing in front fender area especially when riding & steering, the harder I steer the more rubbing sound * I feel a click noise / feeling coming from left pedal when actively pedaling, with every pedal swing I hear/feel that click, does not happen from right pedal. * Last 7th speed a little harder to get into compared to the rest, not sure if that's normal. * Rear fender makes noisy vibration sound when riding over slightly imperfect pavement whereas fender in front is nearly perfectly silent. Picked up the bike from them today, there was a young guy there flirting with a customer or something, he paid attention to me just enough to hand me the bike. I told him "I can't really see if everything is fixed because the road here is extremely noisy but I'm sure you took care of everything" To which he said "Uhmmm, I don't know anything about any of the issues you're talking about, I just followed the standard free-tune up checklist" One of the issues didn't require a quiet road to test on which was the 7th speed issue, I asked him "Is it normal for it to have a harder time getting into 7th? He basically told me in a fancy way that the bike is a low cost bike and they don't make them as good, this is a $700 bike he's talking about, then he admitted that he didn't really remember the issue because again he didn't even have the list that I texted to the British sounding guy I dropped it off to. So basically these people had me drive 30 minutes all the way to the shop and back TWICE and didn't fix any of my issues and apparently didn't care one bit because it was a free "tune-up", why even offer a free tune-up if you'll completely IGNORE the customer and not do anything at all with the tune-up focus items the customer gives you. I gave them a full detailed written up list and they just carelessly trashed it apparently, so I feel like it's a SCAM to offer people a free-tune up if they buy a bike but they don't actually do anything during the tune-up. Will never take my bike here again and will never buy a bike from here again.
