The staff is generally decent-to-good, as they've always had really solid handymen (shout out to Ubaldo & Army specifically, the MVPs of this place). It's a good location in the center of the NoHo Arts District with easy access to bars and grocery stores with a decent pool and gym. But the building was poorly constructed and we had flooding nearly anytime it rained over the years, which was exacerbated dramatically during the heavy storms of early 2023. The vendors who came in to fix the problem had less than no idea what they were doing and had to fix the same problem at least four times. They never explained what they were doing, would routinely disappear without locking our door and were generally rude. Now if you're thinking "well, those are outside contractors", fair, except that's the root of the problem. The contractors and construction issues were all symptomatic of the ownership company that ran the building, Greystar, who DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR RESIDENTS ON ANY LEVEL. These people decided to basically blow up the building and remodel during the pandemic. Every day of quarantine/"Safer At Home" was jackhammers and destruction. Sleep was fleeting. If the building hadn't recently changed hands, and the staff weren't clearly trying their best in spite of corporate overlord nonsense, this would be a 1-star review. I cross-posted this between the new page and the only one and lowered the rating because honestly, the one month we lived there when Greystar wasn't actively trying to handcuff the staff and torment the renters was a marked improvement.

The noise has been out of control. While everyone worked and schooled from home during covid lockdown, we could NOT. Imagine workers knocking on your door telling you you have to leave your home for the entire day or stay inside without leaving because they are working in front of your door, multiple times! The company has refused to reduce rent during this time. It is now 8 months in and the noise, limited access, hazards continue, not to mention not being able to use any amenity we pay for. Its horrible. - From a verified resident on ApartmentRatings I just saw the owners response. This is such a blow off. The company has no interest in doing what is right which is to compensate the renters who have had to live through this ordeal. Don't rent here!

From the moment we moved in, Donnavan was incredibly kind and welcoming. He always greeted us with a smile and took the time to ask how we were doing or if there was anything he could help with. It made us feel truly cared for and part of a community. Maintenance requests were handled promptly, and the building was always clean and well-kept, both inside and out. His dedication and professionalism made a big difference in our daily lives. While we've enjoyed other places we've lived, this last apartment felt the most like home. I spent an entire week looking at apartments, but none of them measured up to my expectations. I was about to give up and settle for another apartment, when I found a listing online for this complex. I figured it wouldn't hurt to look at one more apartment, so I contacted the complex and immediately heard back from Dave, the manager, who was more than willing to show me the space. I kid you not, as soon as I walked into the apartment, I knew I had made the right decision to hold off on signing a lease on the other apartments. Not only was the apartment spacious and well kept, but it has covered parking, located in a great area with TONS of restaurants nearby, on a side street. There is little street noise, it's located in a very safe area, and the manager, Dave, is always so friendly and goes above and beyond to help if there is ever an issue. For example, after I moved in, I noticed that my kitchen sink was leaking. I texted Dave and he immediately had someone come out and replace it. But not only did they replace it, but they also put my water filter back on the faucet and checked to make sure it worked. Again, I cannot say enough about how amazing it is to live in this apartment complex. The space, the location, the management, the people, everything! Gated Parking BBq & Jacuzzi (which is currently under construction; which i am bummed about since I am a creature of water..) hopefully they'll get it fixed soon. Denis is a wonderful property manager who seems to really care about my experience in the building and understands that it is my home in the making. I would suggest you buy a car cover for your automobile since the parking is outside and exposed to the sun & ever changing weather in LA. Make sure to note that you might have to rent a fridge/ also buy a microwave, and might not have a washer for the dishes. I'm a minimalist so all of these factors don't really affect me, but it's important to note. All in all, its been a great experience moving in. I have lived at Catalina for about six months. The community is filled with incredible people, the…read morelocation is great, and for those of us lucky enough to take advantage of the lower rents during the pandemic, the value for the amenities is great. Rafael is also an incredible human and a huge part of why I moved in. But we need to talk about vomitgate. To set the stage, each building only has a single elevator and two stairwells (both of which are locked). This means that for residents with mobility issues, postal workers, and delivery people, the only access to the units is via this one elevator. Which is why it's particularly alarming to me that we are now entering day three of our elevator being inaccessible due to a large pool of vomit. I first discovered it Saturday afternoon, when trying to use the elevator to take my dog out for a walk. There was something that looked like dog drool on the elevator floor, but when the elevator doors opened I saw the puddle of vomit and immediately went down to the parking garage to exit that way. There is no emergency maintenance line that I am aware of, but several residents texted the managers to let them know the situation. Saturday evening, the vomit was still there, but someone had placed a "caution wet floor" sign over it. It is now Monday morning. The vomit is still blocking the entrance to the elevator. I am thankful I am able bodied, as the lobby must be accessed in order to use the gym, trash room, dog park, and of course to enter and leave the building. Thinking of the people entering the building who have no choice but to use the elevator, as well as residents who are not able to use the stairs and have to choose whether to walk across a puddle of vomit during a global pandemic or not enter or leave their homes is truly alarming. This is a health and safety hazard, not to mention flat out bizarre. I have heard from other residents another puddle of vomit has gone untouched on the third floor. I will continue to report back on how long it remains before being taken care of.
