Sadly, for the first time in many years I am deeply disappointed in the ham ordered for Thanksgiving. I ordered a 7-8lb ham for family of 4 as additional meat for dinner. Although it was absolutely delicious as always the ham was mostly bone. I was not able to cut full slices of ham to serve;just fragments of meat. Definitely nothing for seconds;thankfully I had roast as well. Unfortunately, my pic has not What's shown downloaded yet to show the big fatty bone. Ah, there it is! This is nothing but the bone with scattered torn ham bits. Now I'm in a quandary whether to order again for a Christmas Ham for dinner for 25 people. Pros: last year, my MIL brought the most delicious ham to Thanksgiving. It was sweet and salty and with a hint of herbs? Unfortunately, we're not on friendly terms and I couldn't ask her for the recipe. No need! She probably just got the delicious ham from The Hamlet! Well well WELL!!!!! Dinner at The HAMLET!!!! They have really gone out of the way to make this place look special with the whole remodel.... Menu is still the true and great sandwiches, but man they really pulled out all the stops with this new thing goin on there at 91st Sheridan... The outside patio is going to be awesome this spring when its nice outside.. they have a nice covered porch ready for some nice summer weather! We were there for their first weekend of dinner, and it was impressive... We really really enjoyed ourselves. We had great attention by the server, and she offered her opinion of the menu.. Appetizer was Calamari, if you like this, then you MUST get it.... the dipping sauce is off the chain good.... Wife had the Meatloaf and it was especially delicious... Great potatoes, great gravy on this, it was just delicious... I had the chicken fried steak, and it was GREAT.... Good cut of meat, a special gravy and potatoes... yum...... The hamlet was my boyfriend and I's choice last night when we really wanted to try somewhere new. And I'm really pleased with our decision! First of all, the ambiance is 100% my style - exposed stone and dark wood. Blazing fireplace and Christmas music. Love, love, love. And the food was pretty much to die for. We got crab cakes for an appetizer. There's really no word, besides maybe divine. They were melt in your mouth deliciousness. At 12 dollars they weren't exactly in budget. But worth it. Yum. I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and Mac and Cheese. The steak was so good. It was in a chipotle gravy sauce and it was wonderful. The potatoes were whipped to perfection and I ate every bite. The Mac and cheese was the only downer for me. Wow, the Hamlet was a really great choice. I wanted to try something new and local, so it really hit the spot. If you're looking to impress, this is definitely a great spot for a date. I felt like the atmosphere was a nice blend between upscale and casual. Next time, I definitely want to sit in the area next to the fireplace. I kept peeking out and feeling jealous throughout the meal. The food was fantastic. We started with crab cakes, which were a bit expensive for an appetizer but very filling. They were served hot and practically melted in my mouth. I had the Penne with Sausage and Chicken which was a wonderful mix of meat, pasta, and cheese. I like how the two meats complimented each other, it was definitely a well blended meal. To top the experience off, there was a check-in offer and we received a free dessert! What?? This is a strange place....or perhaps wrongly classified. I was looking for a steakhouse on Yelp, and this came up. We drove there, and it appeared on the marquis but the name didnt appear on the side of the building...after a moment of hunting the name appeared inside the mexican restaurant- and a doorway into the area that appears in the pictures. If you surveyed my office, this would very likely be the #1 lunch spot across the company. I go here at least once a week for lunch and I know several people that go more than that. My favorite sandwich spot in town for sure. For a very reasonable price you can get a full sandwich, chips (amazing, homemade and kettle cooked), a side (lots to choose from and all are very good) and a pickle. It is a lunch that simply cannot be beat! I used to get the Fire and Ice (highly recommended) but as of late, I've been partial to the Ultimate Turkey club (with toasted bread). Went their for a friends birthday. Staff is horrible however the food is good we had a group of 11 people for a Birthday One person didn't get her food until everyone was finished. The birthday girl got her food after everyone was halfway done eating. What a terrific find! The food was excellent and the server, Rainer, was a 10! We had the house salad, all fresh greens, tomatoes, and a wonderful sharp hard cheese. We ate here for lunch. Everything was delish! My favorite was the philly cheesteak. The least favorite meal was the Sausalito. We just felt it had too much Dijon. The service was very good I mean very good very prompt when we walked in.after our dinner the cook came and asked how every thing was and so did the the owner or manager. Now the food was increasable, the menu is limited and prices are a bit high for what I'm use too but the food was so good it is worth it. I was worried that you only get 2 crab cakes for $12, but there is real crab meat used. They were awesome. My hubbie ordered the cheesecake and I ordered the molten lava cake. Both were fantastic. I would say that the server didn't seem on his game either time we had him. Kept forgetting things we asked for several times. Just had dinner here. Nice place and nice service. We had the pulled pork flat bread appetizer. The waiter warned us it was large and it was. It was delicious but you need either make it your meal or have four people to share. I had the double pork chop with roasted potatoes and sauteed mushrooms. Was quite good, the chop a little dry but good. My wife had the grilled salmon with asparagus and potatoes. She really enjoyed it. Or daughter had the grilled cheese and ate it all. We were really surprised at the scene she made. Which appeared to be nothing more than an effort to have their bill comped by the owner. Our experience at the brunch was nothing less than excellent. I really had a taste for a good juicy steak, so off on this yelp journey I went...I started with a couple nice well known places: Jamils-too many bad reviews, Flemmings-I'm just a middle class fella, Mahogany-How much for a steak? So, suffice to say, Hamlet was not my first, second or third choice. By the way, I thought Hamlet only sold great honey kissed hams and made a sandwich here or there. Boy was I wrong and my belly is quite happy with my folly. Service: Great; we were greeted as we entered, told to sit anywhere we liked, inside or out and a hostess would be with us shortly. Just a tad too chilly for an outside table so we chose a nice booth near the front. Shortly was just that, we were again greeted and our drink orders were taken by a great waitress. She kept our glasses full and complimentary bread on the table. The bread wasn't so hot but I'll get to the food in a minute. The waitress checked on us from time to time but didn't bug and showed up right on time to clear our very empty plates. She offered dessert that wasn't yet on the menu and calculated a correct check. Mood: Quiet but friendly; when we arrived there were only two other patrons in the restaurant. By the time our food arrived, we had the place to ourselves. The staff was friendly and were very playful with each other. I thought their joking and playfulness was great but I could envision a few grumpy souls not being so uncaring about the jousting. There is no music, tv or anything to hide a growling stomach but the main course arrived quickly. Folks, let me tell you, I took one bite and fell in love. The chop was perfectly cooked, fantastic grill taste, exceptionally seasoned, flawlessly tender. The mashed potatoes were fresh and real. They were creamy and had a great natural potato flavor. My wife had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes, green beans and my side of Mac and cheese. She made a face inappropriate for this forum after her first bite. She smiled with glee at every subsequent bite and continued to offer me a taste to convince me she wasn't having some kind of episode. The meatloaf was flavorful and mildly smoky. The sauce painted on the meat was perfectly proportioned and was a great compliment to the smoky flavor. I am not a meatloaf fan; I was today. I didn't try her sides but that silly smile only seemed to grow brighter when she tried the Mac and cheese. I hate cheese but I thought I'd try a taste since I had been so impressed with everything else on the table. I exclaimed, "it's cheesy". She replied with slightly closed eyes, "yeah isn't it great". Conclusion: It was a tad pricey but I guess it's par for the area. I didn't like playing the guessing game when ordering but that will improve with time. Apparently this place has only been serving dinner since the beginning of the year. As I told the manager, the wait staff and chef; the food should not be this damn good this early in the process. This is review of the take-out operation. We ordered 2 Turkey Breasts, which were very good & definitely fed more than we expected. They were easy to re-heat & came pre-sliced which was nice. They had a good, mildly sweet flavor to them. I inquired about whether I could use a Yelp Check-in offer for a free dessert, since I was spending about $90 and I don't live in the area & am not likely to be back very soon. They informed me that since I was not dining in there, it did not apply. I did not have a problem with that of course, but the Manager was a bit rude & dismissive in telling me this & said he didn't have any desserts to give out. Either way. And I never considered that a place that sells hams might specialize in customer service until I encountered Hamlet Hams. My mother-in-law had a gift card to The Honey Baked Ham Co. and accidentally went to Hamlet Hams instead. They were so confident in their product that they honored her gift card and the ham she got was the best I've ever had. I think the Hamlet has a bit of an identity crisis. Honey baked ham by day, $16-29 dinner entrees by night. The decor is equally confused. We went for dinner, and I thought all of the staff was very nice and welcoming. The restaurant does provide lots of higher end amenities such as free bread and olive oil, cloth tablecloths, and comprehensive wine and liquor list (although wine is served in stemless glasses which is super annoying). Our entrees were good but I just don't think they were worth the prices being charged. And as nice as the staff was, I am not sure this place has the kind of atmosphere that makes me want to spend $29 on a steak while sitting in front of a literal deli counter. Real ham, not the processed stuff you get at the grocery store. Reasonably priced too ($6), considering the quality of ingredients. Who knew this place was more than a sandwich and cutlet shop? We've lived in South Tulsa for 10+ years and had no idea this little place had expanded. Boy were we glad to finally be in the know. Dinner last night was fantastic! 2 of us had the chicken mac and cheese, 1 had artichoke pasta, and finally, "Mr (or should I say Judge) I out ordered everyone" enjoyed a sausage penne dish that was outstanding to a degree that "outstanding" is an understatement (thankfully he was gracious enough to share a bite with everyone). They have an excellent dinner menu at very reasonable prices. I had the chicken fried steak and the chipole touch gave it a nice touch if spice/heat. Others had the meatloaf, salmon and steak. Everyone agreed it was wonderful. I hear they have a Teriffic lunch too. This may be my new favorite place.
