Would an incredible place this was for my friend's wedding. The servers were completely on top of it. And there were so many. The place was beautiful. All their rooms were in the proper place. The outside area for a wedding was remarkable. The food with some of the most incredible food I've ever had at an event like this. The filet melted in your mouth. The roasted potato was incredible and even better when I put some of the herbed butter on it. I'm not sure if the cake came from here but the cake was so moist and delicious and the icing had just the right amount of sweetness. The salad with pasta and vegetables with a beautiful flower on the side was delicious. They were very free with the drinks and top shelf liquor. And there was always a server ready to go get you a drink if you didn't want to get it yourself. I am so impressed with this place. read more

I attended a fundraiser at Haley Mansion last week with almost 200 guests in attendance. Our charity event occupied the entire Mansion and there were a lot of logistics to manage (3 bars, silent auction, outdoor selfie station, décor, food, etc... The staff did a flawless job executing. We had our wedding cancelled due to Covid-19 unfortunately and this venue REFUSES to give back our deposit. A deposit for a now cancelled event due to an act of God. Wedding venues are supposed to be helpful and caring to their clients and this place is the exact opposite. I do not recommend this venue and am highly disappointed that they cannot be accommodating that we had to cancel our wedding for something out of our control. read more

I had my wedding here 3/7/14. When looking for a wedding venue, my fiance and I had looked at some other comparable sites. None had been as professional or welcoming as the staff at the Patrick Haley Mansion. They presented us with many ceremony and reception options and covered all our questions before we could ask them. We knew right away this was the place for our wedding. Throughout the year of planning, the staff were organized and made our work so easy. I had no prior wedding experience and can tell you that they can handle anything! Here was the biggest part of my wedding, and they made it stress-free. They handle everything for you! The staff is so organized and knowledgeable, you won't need a wedding planner. Period. The grounds are so well kept. The interior is as beautifully decorated as you would expect a historic site to be. The food and cake options are delicious and you're given many options to choose from. The bar is kept open throughout the whole reception (this was a big highlight for our guests). Your guests can roam the entire mansion freely. We received so many compliments on our wedding. Although I was initially worried about price tag that comes with an elegant and unique venue such as the Patrick Haley Mansion, what they give you in return far outweighs the cost. My wedding day went perfect and I have mostly the staff of the mansion to thank for that. They know how to throw a wedding. They do it so well and they are nice and professional. Imagine being told the morning of your wedding day that if a nominal fee isn't paid by the time of the event, it will be canceled. This comes after you've spent the last year planning for your wedding. That was my experience with the Haley Mansion. From the beginning, there was a lack of genuine warmth during all my interactions with the coordinators (except for Savannah who is now gone). They always said the "right" things, but everything was very much transactional, without emotion, and all the things you would want from people helping you create an experience that most women dream about their whole lives. Leading up to the wedding day, the tasting was promised for 6 guests, they then informed me that only two people could come. The coordinators eventually permitted me to bring 6 guests after they received negative feedback from other brides to be. The tasting turned into a very lovely experience but, warning to brides, the staff may try to take the 6 people count away from you. My "final details meeting" felt robotic and cold. The coordinator already had the flow of events and did not want to bend on most aspects of the day. I was very bothered by that because I had an idea of how I wanted the program to flow. Even after I called back to speak to with another staff member, and they agreed with my changes, the first coordinator called back to say it HAD to go the way she specified originally. Flexibility is important when planning a wedding. When rehearsal got moved to Wednesday instead of Thursday, my family was flexible, but got kicked out 5 minutes prior to the end of rehearsal because the coordinator claimed that she was there since 9 and wanted to go home. Then comes the wedding day. My wedding day was on a rainy Sunday. I was concerned about the weather, however, instead got a rude awakening from my coordinator. I received a message from the coordinators that if I don't pay the balance for the additional guests there wouldn't be an event. A few days prior, I added more guest and provided the spreadsheet for the coordinators. I am very aware that adding people means additional costs (in fact, I didn't need the coordinator telling me that if I add people I would have to pay). My point here is not that I didn't owe money, but rather that the tone, the implications, and everything about the message was negative and transactional. It was so bad, my sister who heard the call thought I was speaking to an automated system. To make matters worse, I found after further research that in the past brides in similar situations with bigger balances had 2 weeks after the ceremony to cover expenses. That said, I hurried up and paid the balance because I didn't want to have my event canceled. I gave the check to the coordinators before rushing to take first look pictures. Everything went well--that is until dinner when the waiters ran out of fish. My brother was at table 8 and there was no fish available by the time the staff arrived. I was surprised they ran out of food because the coordinators were so adamant about making sure I gave a count for everyone and what they were eating and reassured several times that they order way over the expected amount. Not all staff at the Haley mansion were awful. Eloy was the best part of this experience. He executed my event flawlessly, he listened, and I felt seen and heard. This shows me that the owners of the mansion must know something about customer service by hiring Eloy to execute on all events. The other coordinators need some training on customer service, or they should get out of an industry that is based on helping execute the culmination of someone's dream. My fiancé and I came here for a friends wedding. The Haley Mansion has a beautiful interior with neat architectural molding to add character to this historical mansion. It is a perfect place to host a one of a kind event whether it be a wedding or a a social get together. There are several bars throughout the mansion and for the wedding there was lots of servers that were attentive to whatever needs you had. The servers were very friendly and came back frequently offering drinks and bringing by the food. The courses were preselected and we had a spinach salad along with a main entree of chicken, mashed potatoes, and vegetables. All the food was real flavorful and tasty. The layout of the space provides for plenty of room for ample seating for events as well as a spacious dance floor. read more

I was married here in February 2007 and I could not have been happier with my choice. They had fantastic deals for the wedding off season, and the ladies there were friendly and patient and very informative, and my guests were very impressed with the location. My husband and I had looked at another victorian mansion in the area, the Jacob Henry, and it was very dark and dreary and closed off. The Patrick Haley mansion was bright, open, classic, and with the new (at the time) addition of the reception area, it was the perfect location to have our wedding. They had various bar options, food options, bride/groom packages, and they were very great about working with our other vendors in arranging drop offs, making sure everything was in its place before the big moment. I felt like it was the most stress-free part of planning the wedding! Although my wedding was during the winter, with a nice 8-10" of snow on the ground, my guests never felt trapped. They had the whole run of the mansion (3 floors of mingling), a very classy bar area, the large reception/dance area, etc. Again, could not have been happier with making the choice to have my wedding here. I cannot say enough good things about The Haley Mansion!!!! My husband and I were blown away by the attentiveness to the us and the bridal party the day of the wedding. We keep getting compliments from our guests on the food and the service. The Mansion's beauty brought the evening to life, and we took pictures outside of the mansion at night, and they are GORGEOUS!!! Though I'm not at all familiar with Joliet or anything in the town, this mansion was absolutely beautiful. Friends of ours got married here over the summer and it was gorgeous! The mansion is just beautiful and the grounds are perfect for an outdoor wedding. I took a look at their website and it looks like their packages include everything you'd need for getting married, including all the work done for you by the staff at the mansion. The prices are reasonable and you really can't beat having all the work done for you (setup, decorating, catering, etc.). My First time tonight at this beautiful venue. I always wondered what the inside of the mansion looked like every time I drove by and finally got to see for myself. The grounds outside were beautiful for outdoor ceremonies. Fountains, gazebos and urns galore with brick walkways. All provide a beautiful backdrop for the perfect ceremony. Inside the mansion original woodwork and fireplaces. Enough space for the biggest of weddings. Food tasted great and had an elegant plating. The servers were professional and attentive. Only 2 small complaints. We could not see the bride and groom as their table was not elevated and was quite a distance from us. Also the acoustics were not the best. My family attended a wedding here this past month. The mansion was beautiful, old, spacious, and a bit creepy. The second floor was gorgeous, but it had a leak in the ceiling. The third floor, which was reserved for the bridal party was small and extremely creepy. There was a wedding dress displayed in a glass case on the third floor, which was a bit weird. Along the walls were hundreds of pictures of couples who had been married there. The garden was beautiful and the bar had a really cool soda dispenser. Some of the windows were stained glass and had a print of a man on them. The wedding itself was gorgeous. The wait staff served the delicious food. They were also very friendly, and even funny. One downfall about the wait staff was when we asked for more soda, she gave us a dumb look and replied with "we only serve family". We were family, but we didn't want to argue with her. The bathrooms were very clean and beautifully decorated. There was always staff coming in and out making sure there was always toilet paper and papers towel. read more

Living In the city as we do, we knew we couldn't really afford a blow out at a venue in Chicago, and invite as many guests as we wanted to, which left the suburbs and our options being narrowed to a country club or hotel. Then we found the mansion, which was beautiful and classy without smelling like mothballs. Every employee takes their job seriously, from the event coordinators, to the wait staff and the cooks. Being the groom, I was never without a drink in my hand or food on my plate. They work very hard to take the stress out of everything. The only real complaint that I have is that I think they should assign one coordinator, instead of this kind of hive mind model they have going. Either that, or do weekly briefs to make sure they're all on the same page. read more

The mansion was really great to work with and everyone was always very friendly and polite. We found it to be an amazing place that was great value for our money. The food was amazing and the staff was always helpful and polite. On the day of our coordinator (Patrick) was beyond helpful and accommodating. We had a family member who had some unexpected special needs and he did everything he could to make sure she still had a good time and was comfortable. I am so grateful to him for his help that day. I honestly cannot say enough to praise his service and professionalism. If they lose him as an employee then they will have lost one of their greatest assets. All the wait staff was extremely polite and helpful. We even had someone offer us some hors d'oeuvres while we were taking photos after the wedding. Plus they dealt with some food allergies (peanut and fish) really well allowing us to just enjoy the food and the day. The food came out warm and tasted amazing. We also had the sweets table which was a huge hit. Our guests absolutely loved it, plus everything tasted amazing. There were only a couple things I think they could improve on, first, that they keep a regular contact through email instead of someone different responding to every email, and second, that they don't allow tours right up until the bride is about to walk out. Luckily, the staff at the mansion was extremely helpful, professional and focused on making the event a night to remember. Of the hundreds of weddings I have done through my career, I have rarely worked with a staff of such a high caliber. Aside from the wonderful staff, the mansion is also just a beautiful venue. Loads of beautiful artwork and areas to be explored. The landscaping is also amazing. The food and drinks were also some of the best I have ever sampled at a wedding. I wished I could have eaten more! In the end, if you are looking for a hall that will take care of all the little details for you, this is the place. I just attended a wedding reception here. I'm always a bit nervous about food events because I have food allergies, but I put that on the card and I got a special meal and it was sooooo good! Others at my table were jealous! This is a beautiful facility with lots of detail and a nice patio which we didn't use since it was too cold. We were staying at Harrah's Casino and they arranged for a shuttle to run between Harrah's and the mansion. This place has lots of little areas like a room with a fireplace and the room with the bar can get quite cozy when lots of people are waiting for their liquor. The service was good, but a bit slow when it came to taking away dirty dishes and glasses. Maybe I was drinking too fast for them. Once cleanup was finished, you couldn't find the staff anywhere. I had to ask a bartender to help us out with a question. This is a nice find in the Joliet area. read more

We had our wedding here in March and everything was absolutely perfect! I fell in love with the mansion the first time I saw it and knew this was my dream venue. The staff was helpful throughout the entire wedding planning process. They were courteous, timely, and made sure every detail was exactly how we wanted it on the day of the wedding. We had Eloy as our head server and he made sure our every wish and need was met. All of our guests were extremely pleased and commented how great the food tasted. The weather was a bit chilly on the day and the mansion had the fireplaces going to make for a nice, cozy atmosphere. This was our dream wedding location. Everything about it was beautiful and worth every penny. Due to the pandemic, our wedding in April was canceled and needed to be rescheduled. We rescheduled for the end of July. I was told by Sandy that we could have 50 people attending. Not the dream wedding, we wanted all of our family to be their with her family being in California and cannot leave we didn't want to have it. Sandy refused to corporate with us and it has left bad feelings in our family that I would just like my money back. Sandy has refused to refund our money even though this is an act of god and is stated in our contract. Oh i love the PHM!!! I had my wedding here this October and couldn't have been happier. Like Matt P, we live in the city and couldn't afford what my taste level is here, so we had to scout the suburbs. From the first tour my husband and I took, we were hooked. The mansion itself is GORGEOUS. Absolutely stunning. Besides the obvious, the staff was incredibly helpful and the service was beyond standard. They really have planning the details down to a T. Everything was noted so the day of, I had zero worries. The day before when we brought in our decorations, Jan, the mansion manager noted where everything went, so the next day when we arrived, I didn't have to worry about assigning anyone to hang this up, light these candles, nope that's what the mansion staff is there for! They eliminate the need for a day-of coordinator, which saves lots of money. The staff even wear ear pieces! Talk about organization. Before our ceremony began, there was a slight emergency where we needed a black table cloth for a special set up we were doing for my husband's army unit, and none was at the mansion. No worries. Out runs Jan to the Wal-Mart! She insisted that she went. How cool?! The food was excellent, we got so many compliments on how delicious the food was. The best part? The entire room gets served within minutes of the head table, and the food comes out piping hot! The worst is when you're served luke warm wedding food. Even my Baltimore-native Uncle said their crab cakes were great! We had a sweets table too, which I was told was the hit of the night. My only regret is that I wish we didn't host it on a Sunday night, but then again with all the money we saved, it made a difference. The only other thing is I wish the dance floor was closer to the bar (or vise versa), since my family loves their drinking lol and most guests congregated around the bar. I recently had my wedding at this location, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. If you're thinking of getting married in the Chicago area and don't want to get hitched in a run-of-the-mill banquet hall, and can't afford steep downtown Chicago prices, this may be the place for you! It isn't cheap, but it is FAR from expensive for the level of service provided. If you priced out the location, linens, catering, liquor service, cake, etc. individually, I'm certain that the final price tag would come out much, much higher. We chose the location because not only is the mansion lovely, but they take care of so many details--all we had to provide was a DJ, a florist, and a photographer! If you're planning a large wedding, not having to worry about catering, chair rental, linens, etc. is a HUGE deal--trust me! Additionally, the space is large enough so that the ceremony can also be held onsite, which is a great thing if you've got a lot of out-of-town guests and don't want to have to worry about people getting from a ceremony location to a reception hall in an unfamiliar city. We had special requests about a certain wine being served--no problem. We had special needs for the decor--no problem. We had several guests with strict food allergy concerns--no problem. The bridal party had its own dedicated waitstaff (lovely!) and every server seemed honestly delighted to make this day special for us. Jan, our main contact, was a delight to work with and answered all our questions and concerns wonderfully. My florist (Belles and Thistles--see their website at bellesandthistles.com and a review on this site, they also did a great job) stated repeatedly that she was very impressed with the professionalism of the staff, and remarked that she felt they were very organized and really had things down to an art. Coming from a woman with over twenty years' experience in floral design, this is no faint praise. Every guest remarked on what a great time they had, and our deposit was returned promptly less than two weeks after the ceremony. If I had to do it again, I'd absolutely chose them a second time. read more

As a guest I really appreciated all this place had to offer. It's a completely unique experience. The reception was unlike any reception I had ever attended before. Haley Mansion is a historical landmark estate located in Joliet, Illinois, mostly noted for having been the residence of the mayor of the city in the late 1880's. Haley hired architect Frank Shaver Allen to design the three story limestone mansion. As mansions go, it's not exactly HUGE but it's very beautiful. Whether or not you are interested in Joliet history, the pictures adorning the walls in the upstairs corridors and rooms nonetheless give off an elegant atmosphere seemingly trapped in time. The staff of Patrick C. Haley Mansion give tours as far as I know but mostly they fund the preservation of the house by hosting weddings and other events whereby the house and/or ballroom is commissioned for a designated time. They also offer libation and catering services My cousin Stacy had her wedding reception there and it was a beautiful affair and a wonderful night. The staff were very attentive and helpful and also very professional. It was great to roam the mansion with a rum and coke and soak in the old-time atmosphere. From top floor down to the gorgeous ballroom, I truly enjoyed drifting back and forth through the halls. It was a great experience and a wonderfully special night for our family. From my one experience at the mansion, I would highly recommend considering it for your next elegant affair. read more

All of our guests were so in awe of the place, it's so much better than your usual hotel and banquet hall wedding. I went to a wedding here last month and had a great time. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and the waitstaff is very attentive but sadly a little clueless at times. During the cocktail hour one of the servers asked if we wanted anything (it was an open bar) and we asked if they made Moscow Mule's. He didn't know what it was, which is okay, the problem was when we told him the ingredients he came back and gave us two beers and a lime. Now I am more than fine with them not having the ingredients for the drink, but seriously just handing a beer and walking away? The second issue, which they handled well, was as they were serving dinner one of the servers dumped sauce all over my head and back. The manager came over and gave us some cleaner and towels as well as her business card to have the cleaning reimburses....I did not take her up on the offer because the server didn't do it on purpose and the table that was next to us made it next to impossible for him to do his job plus the stain came out. My wife and I were married here in December of 2013 and we couldn't be happier with our overall experience! From the elegant vintage setting of a mansion grounds, to the wonderful helpful and courteous staff, and to the amazing food, we had our dream wedding! The pictures of the mansion are wonderful but they do not do it full justice. If anyone is looking for a venue for a wedding, one trip to the mansion will easily win you over. My wife and I had several venue visits lined up before making our decision. This was the second on our list and after going though a tour of the mansion grounds, we canceled all further appointments and booked right away! The accommodation options and food choices were wonderful and the service on the day of the wedding was glorious. As a craft beer connoisseur, my only disappointment going into the wedding was the lack of beer options on the menu even though we picked the top priced option. However, the staff allowed me to bring in cases of one of my favorite beers from Three Floyds to the mansion to be served to the bridal party and guests who inquired. My only suggestion for improvement is to expand to add at least one local craft brewery to the beer list such as Revolution, Half Acre or even Lagunitas. My fiancé and I searched and visited over 20 venues and contacted over 30 and no matter where I looked PHM was always my #1. When I first visited PHM I wanted to cry because of how beautiful and dreamy everything was. It is exactly what I want in a wedding. The staff was very welcoming, detailed, informative and patient. On our first visit we were seated and had their delicious cookies and some hot coffee. We went over every single detail even up to the budget. We got to learn some cool history and got to see all their amazing food displays. They now have the chiavari chairs included in the rental which is a huge plus for me. I cannot say this enough but the staff is amazing! We did not receive this kind of service in any other venue! I've attended two wedding receptions here and I knew this was the place I wanted to eventually have mine. There was no doubt- it's absolutely gorgeous. I went a few weeks ago to check out pricing and Barb was very helpful and patient as I started picking out table linens and specific items on the menu I wanted to have. I was so excited they had my date available. They put the date on a 24 courtesy hold while I needed to talk with my father about the expenses. I was also told that if anyone was interested in my date, they would contact me so I could quickly give them my down payment. The following Monday I called to book the date and give them my down payment over the phone. I talked with a woman named Tracy. She told me that there was another bride interested in the date. She told me she needed to call her first to see if she wanted the date. I naturally questioned her, as I was clearly ready to give her the money over the phone. We then quickly talked to management (Jan) who was not helpful. She told us that if the other girl didn't book by the end of the day we could have it. They called by the end of the day to tell us the girl booked. It sounded like both myself and the other bride were promised the same thing - that they'd let us know if anyone else was interested. Mistakes happen I get it, but they need to apologize and take responsibility for actions and unprofessionalism. A week later Barb had emailed me to see if I was still interested in the venue. I was very confused as I then assumed she was not aware of the situation. We immediately called her and she expressed frustration on how things were handled. She said it has always been their policy of first-come-first-serve. It's so disappointing how things were handled. They tried convincing us to change the date since we loved the venue so much. I can't help but think "What's going to happen next?"? I unfortunately don't think it's worth changing the date I had my heart set on to work with people who have shown to be inconsistent in their policies and who have lied to me. Looks like the search for a venue will continue else where. read more
