Each room had its own character. I loved hearing about the rich history of the building as well as how it became the tasting room it is today. There were four of us who visited. A tasting is $20 for (8) sample pours. I was surprised at how good each of the wines were! Our group's favorites were the Sauvignon Blanc, 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon, and Bishop's Blend. Jordan guided us through the tasting telling us about each wine and answering any questions we had. He did a great job at keeping our glasses full while also giving us space to enjoy. Several of our invited guests were refused entry, and when I offered to pay for the additional attendees on the spot (these guests had not RSVP'd and were not included in the original count), the owners declined the payment and continued to keep people waiting outside--or turned them away entirely. Their explanation was that the venue had reached capacity, but this simply wasn't true. We were informed beforehand that the building's capacity was at least 70 people more than the number in attendance. Even with payment in hand, the staff acted as though the situation was beyond their control, which came across as both unprofessional and unreasonable.... it was strange. After investing over 20K into this event, it was humiliating to have to PLEAD for our guests to be allowed in. The entire situation completely ruined the night. If you're considering booking this venue, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for a location that is more accommodating, and capable of handling unexpected situations with professionalism and respect. To top it off....When we left that night, we were told everything was settled and that our balance was fully paid. However, when I followed up a week later to request the return of our $500 deposit, I was suddenly told that we still had an outstanding balance. The inconsistency and lack of transparency were extremely frustrating -- trust me, save yourself the stress and look elsewhere.

Taylor was a dream to work with- she was always so kind and patient with us and all of the questions I had during our long engagement. She was always very detailed and prompt in her responses, willing to meet with us whenever we needed, and always presented different options and ideas! We are going to miss working with her! The team that worked the night of the wedding was absolutely amazing. Everyone was very polite and on top of everything! Whether it was setting up, taking down, service, etc. there was always someone around if there was a question. If you are on the fence about the venue, I highly recommend that you go check it out in person so you can see for yourself how special the space is and the potential it has to be the wedding of your dreams!

I was here on a Sunday afternoon for a wedding, and there were not very many people at the train station, which was good, but that might not be true on a Friday or Saturday evening though. The ballroom was absolutely gorgeous, and I'm sure the photos are amazing. But it was soooooo loud inside. I couldn't hear any of the ceremony at all. None of it. And we were in the middle of the room. I think only the first few rows could hear. The food was delicious. The passed hors d'oeuvres were great. Dinner was tasty, so was the cake. I don't know if they made it all, or if it was catered by someone else. The bartenders were quick, and I never had to wait long for a drink. All of the drinks were quite tasty. The balcony was incredible. Too bad there really wasn't much to look at outside. All of this makes it very hard for me to decide how I feel about the Joliet Grand Ballroom. I would have liked to be able to hear the ceremony, and walking through the train station was a little odd, but the space is incredible.

From the moment we started talking…read moreabout having a wedding and reception locally, I knew that I wanted a venue with a lot more pizazz and Jacob Henry was at the top of my list. It ended up being the only venue we visited and booked the day after we visited. Every couple's wedding is supposed to show a part of them and ours was no different. Sarah worked with us to make our day show "us" through and through. Our dream day focused on the Mansion and the unique setting it provided us. We were able to have a cost-effective wedding/reception as their pricing is based solely on a minimum cost. She added extra touches like staff bringing hor d'oeuvres and champagne out to my family while we did photos after the reception. They brought water to my husband and I while we did our couple photos after that (it was hot!). They did everything to make us feel, not only like it was our day, but like everything was perfect and there wasn't a thing to worry about - and there wasn't! As far as my guest experience... I did not have guests complaining about food, beverage or service. I actually had a few guests come to me and say some things were amazing. My nephews were devouring the mini-quiche even though we had set up a kids room with Mac n cheese special for them.

My friend recently got married here and they had their ceremony and reception here as well. This place is absolutely beautiful for a place not in the best part of Joliet. The ceremony itself was beautiful with live musicians playing through the ceremony and the cocktail hour provided afterwards. The food here was actually really good and I love the food that was provided though I was slightly disappointed that they screw it up one of the special meals that belongs to my wife but they were able to rectify the issue last minute. This place is a lot bigger than you would think and it has a good size dance floor. Many amenities are in-house as well which is great as well. This place was clean and a staff actually work really hard at what they do. They were a few hiccups that hindered this place from being a true five star venue but overall I was not disappointed. I would recommend having your wedding here.
