The menu is very straightforward, and easy to read. I ordered a gyro with a side of fries and a drink. It didn't take long to receive my order & I made my own fountain beverage of choice. There was minimal seating near the window, perfect for people watching. I think I would have preferred my sandwich to have a little more meat for the price, but it was delicious. read more

One of my four boys (the Nashville one) has been touting how good the Halal Guys restaurant is. Well, just around the corner where I live there is a Halal Guys, and with my wife away I thought I give it a try. I ordered their chicken wrap with a side of hummus and some hot sauce. I placed the order online and picked it up at my exact time. The food I ordered was tasty and for the price I would say I had a very good dinner. But.....(I guess there's sometimes a but) my wrap fell apart alike a sinking ship. What I thought was a hand held sandwich, turned out to be a fork and spoon experience. I wasn't dejected, as what I ordered was very good. I was just hoping for a different experience. I'll try it again and eat at their store instead of bringing it home. read more

Four wing dings for $7?! I got the loaded waffle fries snack size and 4 "wings" and it was just under $16. Ridiculous. The food wasn't very good. I ordered chicken and falafel as my proteins and they crumbled one falafel over the waffle fries and maybe two tablespoons of overt cooked chicken. You live and learn. I will not be back. read more

Fresh and fast, the Halal guys has filling in bowls at affordable prices. My favorite is the gyro with all the vegetables. Definitely get the white sauce, but be sparing with a red spicy sauce because it is HOT!! Not a lot of seating area, but things move fast and didn't have a problem getting a seat. read more

Hole in the wall, no doubt about that. But the food is as good as their NYC food truck counterparts. It's pre-made fast food. Let's keep that in mind. Sometimes you may get meat that's a little overcooked - I think it's forgivable given the kind of food they serve. I do like those crispy bits of gyros. The sandwiches are ginormous and will satisfy any cravings you may have. The falafel is fried to order! Service is fast. I also love the staff. They are always friendly and service comes with a smile. Can't beat that for a neighborhood hole in the wall. read more

Gyro meat was dry, falafels were overcooked and (wayy too hard). TikTok is a send off. Maybe good on a drunk late night but sober daytime experience for myself and my wife was not very good at all. They sell gyros and do not have giardnera peppers or cucumber/taziki sauce. We only went that way to check out the Jibarito spot next door but decided to check out the Halal Guys. SMH. This is just my experience ya'll Live Life read more

Friendly service, quick massive portion eats! I ordered the gyro bowl with everything extra hot sauce and white sauce plus a water. My total was $20 and some change. It's enough for 2-3 people!!! My complaints are that it was kinda bland. The gyro meat was very salty for my taste and the rice was tasteless. No garlic, dill, onion nodes at all. The white sauce wasn't flavor forward either! The hot sauce was straight from the underworld! Boy was it hotttttttt! Loved it! If you are hungry and need to have leftovers because you are short on cash go for it. It's quick, fast and filling!! read more

I've been to this Halal Guys a few times already. The food always taste consistently great, I just wish they would load the plates up to the top. While they don't have the same taste as the ones from New York City, its always great to have every now and then. The staff here is also friendly and very welcoming. I usually order their large Chicken Platter. Similar to chipotle unfortunately, you go down the line and then then what you'd like. Lettuce, tomatoes, onions and peppers. Ive never seen onions and peppers being offered at any of the halal carts in NYC, and I don't get them here. The chicken here tastes fresh and the white size is amazing. Don't ask for too much red sauce. I love my food spicy, but the red sauce here is no joke. read more

Recanted visited for dinner and had a lovely experience. The workers were super friendly and accommodating! The menu had a lot of fun options on it to try such as a honey sriracha falafel. We loved the hot sauce because it was actually spicy! Be careful if you're not used to spice- it is HOT! such a great place to grab a quick dinner!! read more

This Halal Guys location is one of the best - Such friendly staff and tasty food. The combination platter we got was soo well made! Huge portion size, plenty of toppings, white sauce, and the chicken shawarma and falafel were amazing! Armetine took my order and made it, she made it perfectly and so quick. Her and Nelson were so welcoming and created a great ambiance. Love Halal Guys and would definitely come back to this location! read more

It was my first time eating here and I wanted to to try it because I've heard good things, and it was great! The place is very small and there's only a few tables available and staff was nice! There's no bathroom or wifi here and parking is mostly street parking. I got the regular chicken and gyro platter, with white sauce and a bit of BBQ sauce! The meat was very tender and flavorful, it was delicious itself. Everything tasted so good together and seemed very fresh. I recommend this place for a quick bite or for good delicious food. It was about $11.50 for a pretty big portion! read more

The food at this Halal guys is decent. Specifically, the gyros are decent (I have had better). There also isn't the biggest selection on the menu (chicken, beef, and falafel). The biggest problem I have with this location is the lack of seating. There are very few, if any, places to actually sit and eat. If you are lucky enough to get a seat, it will feel as though other customers are hovering over you because the location is so tight. It can feel claustrophobic at times because the area is tight. read more

The food was delicious and very very filling up and I bought home the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. The service was very speedy and the servers knew what they were doing and I appreciated it. Liked it. Would totally get it again. The meat was flavorful, the sauce is good (though it's not this amazing thing sent from the heavens as other proclaim), portion size and value is good, as well. I had the smaller chicken & rice plate and it was more than enough for one meal, I had leftovers. Service is very bare bones but gets the job done, same goes for the 500 degree tiny, not so clean shop. I think as far as The Halal Guys locations go, this one is not at the top level but it gets the job done. Food is good, staff just needs to step up their game a bit. read more

The food is overpriced and bad, the environment is sketchy, and the service is what you'd expect from fast food. Avoid.

When you see 1 "$" next to a restaurant's name on Yelp, there's a good chance that it's not going to be fancy. What this place lacks in subjective refinement it (for the most part) makes up for in taste. The falafels are crunchy on the outside and moist and pretty flavorful on the inside. The pita bread tastes good. The rice is a little dry but super tasty. The vegetables seem fresh and complement the dish well. The white sauce is good, but makes the vegetables seem grainy if you add too much. The to-go packaging is convenient and easy to open/reseal. read more

The Rundown: Consistence & quality are key. Overall: I'm done with this location and the thought of hoping it gets better. Methinks no more disappointment. As I've mentioned in my previous review, the consistence at this location isn't always there and now it seems as if the quality has taken quite the hit. My order from last night: The usual. Combo plate with chicken & gyro. Rant: Both the chicken and gyro were BOTH over cooked! It was weirdly mixed with edible pieces and literally hard as rock pieces you couldn't even bite through. Think beef jerky meets jawbreaker. Rice was good, lettuce and tomatoes tasted fresh, but the pita bread... cold, doughy, probably under cooked as all four pieces seemed like they were glued together when I tried to separate them... W T F?! Maybe I'm still salty from last nights Cubs loss, but I vow to go only to the newer loop location from here on out if craving Halal Guys. Had I not ordered through UberEats, I would've taken the food back for sure. What a waste of money. No next time for this one. Rant over. Peace. read more

2 stars for friendly service and location. The star for value, taste, and convenience non-existent. Located in the busy Division and Clark, this place gets a lot of traffic as it is also nestled with local shops and bars. This very hyped place is 5 stars in NY where it is a food cart and serves at a very fast paced level. I was hoping it is comparable to this new(er) Chicago location but not so much. Here's why: -no parking (well ok, NY has no parking either but it's expected. I just had to bitch because this HG has a storefront, it's not a cart so expectations of perhaps dining there may play your mind. NO! Standing room only for maximum of 4 patrons and metered parking $2/30 min is very scarce) - quality and amount of food - mediocre and small. The rice was hard and the gyro--- well it's just not the same. The amount of food is less than you would get in NY. - $10+ for a combination (2 meats) Vs $8 in NY So in conclusion, comparing these 2 cities may not be fair but when NY is the baseline, this CHICAGO location is a disappointment. read more

Stop comparing the New York branch to this branch!! If you like that spot so much. PLEASE DO US A FAVOR and steer clear from this spot and FLY THERE!! Now that I got that off my chest. Let's start the review. I dont exactly know where the exact birth place of Halal Guys, but i certainly know that their most popular spot is 53rd and 6th in New York. If you know what I'm talking about, you would know which exact one you would go straight to. Plus, anybody who's been there is the very reason why they're here today. So yea, we're trying out Halal Guys team Chitown! The location is a cute little take out operation. So instead of a food cart, it's a hole in the wall. Which is a good thing since they're all about quantity sales. And don't let that quantity sales food you. Quality is also their calling. For $8.99 you'll get a big platter of food, trust me, even at your most hangriest state, finishing one of these bad boys is a daunting task. Sharing is the proper cure for that. Ask for the red sauce only if you are a spicy junkie. Because the red sauce is not for noobs. If you are,, stick to the white sauce. As for me,, I like to combine the two. It's probably the only way to alleviate the heat from the red sauce. Service is good hole in the wall service. You walk up, you let them know what you want,, you pay,, you pick up at the other side, then you eat. No baby momma drama there. Plus there's little stand up counter by the window for you to eat on. I would gladly come back and eat here again. I love you Halal Guys! read more

Hate to give this review but I just finished half of my bowl because I was so hungry. But something didn't seem right. As I closely examined up close the chicken it's not cooked. Great now I might get sick. I lived in nyc for 5 years and it was one of my favorite go to spots. If I die just know I came here on Wednesday 12/12/18 at around 11:45 am. I find it odd that during lunch hour no meat was being freshly cooked on the grill but just in one of those containers. Arghhhhhh See my pictures for the raw chicken. I feel gross now. And hard to write this review as it's one of my spots. read more

First time trying Halal Guys, finally!! All those snapchats, Instagram posts and talk about Halal Guys has brought me to this very moment. I'm currently sitting in a hotel room in Chicago and didn't even know there was a Halal Guys out here. I had no idea what to order so I just followed in my friends foot steps and ordered the platter with chicken and beef with sauce on the side. First off, the white sauce is very necessary!!! Get extra is possible because I can't imagine how the meal would've tasted without it. Also, their hotel sauce is ridiculously hot. I put 3 drops and it was perfect for just about the entire platter. I think that the only gripe was that the meat could've been hotter but that's not something you can't fix yourself. They don't have any seats to sit at while you eat but more of a standing area if it's not busy. We ended up taking it to-go and it was still delicious. Overall, good price for what you get. I could barely finish half and it still tasted yummy the day after :) read more

I went opening day and the line was ridiculously long so I continued on my way. I went the next day at just the right time! I waited in line about 20-30 minutes. I ordered the mixed chicken and gyro with green peppers and jalapeños with extra white and extra hot. I like the heat. My aunt ordered the standard mixed plate with extra white and no hot. We each ordered the regular size for 8.99. Mine was like a dollar more bc of the peppers. Total came out to $20 and change. The food is good. The meat is tender. The veggies fresh. The regular gave us both lunch on Sunday and lunch on Monday. So $20 for a total of 4 meals is pretty good if you ask me. Honestly tho the food is better in NYC. I ate at one of the famous carts and it was soooo much better!!! Idk if it's because the meat sits on the grills all day at the cart and here they seat on the steam tables or what. I'd be back again but when it's not so popping and the lines are shorter. read more

A friend recommended this place to me after trying it in NYC. We went on a Saturday late afternoon and waited in line 55 minutes which the worker at the door said was a "short wait for here." However...it's well worth it. They said they are always busy with a line even with their long hours seven days a week, so be prepared to wait in line outside. Also don't block the doorway for jimi johns next door- they don't like that ;) The menu is short and simple and it truly is fast middle eastern food. They have gyro, chicken, and falafel as a platter with rice or a sandwich. I got the chicken sandwich and a side of hummus. All absolutely amazing! Their white sauce tastes like typical white sauce, just so much better. I can't explain it- the same flavor but so much better you just can't get enough. All in all its a wait, but well worth it. They are going to be opening at least 4 more locations in Chicago soon so stay tuned! read more

So I don't like to write these things, or ever want to hurt anyone in doing them. BUT, I feel most restaurants are getting to pricey regardless of the quality of food and they don't care what we think as the clients. My first experience and the last with this guy! I spent $60 on subpar fast food. I thought this was going to be authentic based on all the 4 star reviews I read. I ordered a Gyros plate, and it was so disappointing. The meat was chopped into little pieces as if I was ordering a taco. It was dry and layered on top of rice to look like it was a good portion but it was only a superficial layer. Not worth the price. I also ordered Baba Ghanoush and Hummus, both extremely salty. The real kicker is they give you pita chips instead of pita. Then they claimed I ordered this. The fresh pita that came with the meal was four tiny little slices, and then the pita with the sides I requested were two small bags of Stacey's pita chips. Who pays $60 for bags of chips, I was looking forward to fresh warm Pita! So gross to even use this as an option. The olives were also diced not whole like the photo shows and the falafel, two small pieces the size of gum balls you get for a quarter. Just horrible unauthentic. When I called to ask about he chips, the lady could careless what I thought. Not authentic at all, it may look the part but the spices aren't even there, a bunch of salt. No middle eastern spices used at all and as long as I am not appreciated as a customer. I wont ever give it a second try. Listening should be top priority when you own a business. Thank you for reading. read more

My boyfriend and I wanted to see what the hype was all about. I'm not a big fan of gyros but my boyfriend loves them. I got the small bowl with chicken/gyros and I have to say it hit the spot. The small bowl got myself full, there was a lot of food. The rice was okay but the rest of the food was delicious. It's a good place for a quick stop by food stop. We also got the fries and I have to say they are delicious. I want actually order two of those and just eat them but then again I am a huge French fry girl lol. Overall, this place is a good place to try but it's not like an everyday kinda food. The hot sauce is spicy but it's addicting. read more

I've only ordered to-go so I cannot attest to the conditions inside the store. However, I have nothing negative to say about my short time there. Everything seemed orderly to me. The food was delicious and veymuch camparable to the original. I read a lot of comments on yelp that "there more nore lettuce and tomato than chicken and rice". When I visited this place I was surprised, all i had to do was tell them add less lettuce and tomato. Staff was very accomudating, friendly and knowledgeable. I had nothing more to expect from this place. Now, i am glad there is a halal guy place close to me. Also, I'm knocking off a star because they did not have spoons at this place. This place is definitely my go to when I want to eat something cheap and quick! I have never actually been to their facility, but I order regularly from this location on Uber Eats. I always order the Gyro Platter and a side of fries. The meat is good, but it is much better with the white sauce. The red sauce here is very spicy! I love spicy but this sauce sets my mouth on fire.
