This place got pretty good reviews on Yelp, so we decided to try them for a late Lunch. It's mainly Bar food, so we got some Appetizers. I got their signature Famous Burger with peanut butter it was good, big and juicy with Fries that were overcooked. My Husband got the Flounder platter that was just ok to him. Our Server Jadawnn was nice, but not attentive. She went missing for a while when we wanted to order our Entree's, when she finally came back to ask was our Appetizers we're ok, she looked confused like she thought she placed them already. I came in while and friend and I were shopping and grabbed lunch.. no clue what to expect because never been to this place.. our server was great! I think he said his name was Dominic? Very attentive and ready to help us with drinks and menu. I got a red white and blue burger medium rare with bacon and tots.. I got sweet tea to drink.. the burger had lots of flavor and came out perfectly done. I think they are known for their sushi because they had pretty good size sushi bar! They have lots of stuff from sushi, seafood, burgers, pastas I mean something for everyone.. they had good list of adult beverages and beers but we didn't get any. Waited over 10 mins for it to come out for the server to literally put it on the table melting as he handed it to us. No plate under it and no plates or bowls for us to use. The manager also followed the server out with it saying their ice cream is really soft and I said "I see that- half of it is already literally all over the table! Every year this location just keeps getting worse. Such good memories of this place in past years and now it's just a waste of our time. This location closes at 10pm and we try to get a table(in an empty restaurant) at 8:15 and the hostesses tell us it will be a 1 hour 20 min wait. We look into the restaurant and there are literally 2 families in the entire place. We didn't stop in right before closing. Last year they were out of soda. The Grumpy Monk kept popping up on my timeline so, I had to check it out. We sat outside. Nice atmosphere (for a touristy area), with a water view of the small lake. The greenery in the ceiling is nicely done. Our server was nice and helpful. We looked over the beer menu while we waited for our nachos. I love the diet beer section! Mainly because I tell my husband (who drinks these beers) something similar all the time lol. I ended up going with the cotton candy IPA. Y'all, it really has a cotton candy after taste for just a second. I enjoyed it. My husband went with the Anita loca (I think) he also enjoyed. The nachos we're subpar. Not bad though. The husband has the French dip, he gives it an 8/10. Meet was on the chewy side. But still pretty good! I had the lobster Mac. This was on the happy hour menu. Now I've had a good amount of lobster Mac in my day. I feel like it can also be hard to find when eating out. I get it every time I see it. I give this a 7/10. This place had great reviews but the food was good, not great. We started with the famous wings in garlic Parmesan and spicy tso sauce. The garlic ones were a 2 star and the Spicy Tao were 5 stars in flavor. The eggrolls were pretty bad, the dough was raw so it wasn't crispy at all so it ruined the whole roll. I ordered the famous monk burger because I wanted to try the peanut butter burger but the actual amount of peanut butter made it barely noticeable and the patty was overcooked so it wasn't juicy or flavorful. If I ever go back I'll make sure to stress Medium not medium well for the burger temp. We also had a cute visitor which they stayed is a daily thing. The ducks will hop on deck to see if any scraps are on the floor but they weren't a bother at all. Overall I'd come back and try different things but it's not a place I'm dying to try again. Honestly I was a bit hesitant because it looked very gimmicky. I was pleasantly surprised as the service was outstanding. I had the boneless wings half Thai honey and half BBQ. The Thai honey was one of the best wing sauces I've ever had, hands down. The bbq was also very good but gosh that Thai honey. A lovely happy hour on the patio at the Grumpy Monk at the Boardwalk at the Beach location. We enjoyed watching the speedboats on the lake while dining on margaritas and nachos. Located right in a hustling & bustling area of Myrtle beach my husband and I popped into the Grumpy Monk after a morning of outlet shopping. We were able to be seated right away inside or outside. The menu options were quite extensive, there's definitely something for everyone. My favorite part was that they offer sushi!!! The establishment gives me like pub/American fare so it was a fun thing to learn that they have a sushi bar with made to order rolls. Although we did not get sushi their food was excellent! We started off with some of their wings which are offered with a variety of sauces. We love good sauce options. The wings were awesome and they let us split the order of 8 into 2 flavors! My husband then got some sort of southern grilled cheese with fried green tomatoes on it, he was in love. For myself I went with the barnyard club which was a classic turkey club that also included ham. My favorite part was that a Caesar salad could come as a side with NO EXTRA COST. I will do anything for a good Caesar salad, but it's always such a bummer when it costs extra vs an original salad- not here, have all the side salad you want no extra cost!! The portions of food are large, we had plenty of leftovers. The service was fast & friendly. So a few people suggested we should come here and especially for happy hour (4pm-7pm). To be honest, you can pass and find something else. The happy hour and the overall food was just not great! I don't know if it was because of happy hour but the portions were extremely small. We ordered the following: 5/10 Crispy Cauliflower The description said it had some heat to it.. no heat, and no flavor. 6/10 Zip a dee do Shrimp It was okay, nothing special. Ambiance and location are definitely a plus for this restaurant. Located in the Boardwalk where there is the Ripleys Aquarium, museums, Señor Frogs, and plenty of other little stores, restaurants, and amusement rides. Came on a Saturday for lunch, and it was raining a bit, so everything was super empty and quiet. We were sat immediately outside on their patio. Beautiful view of their lake and other businesses in the area. There are plenty of drinks to choose from, sushi, and bar grill type food. We ordered a bunch of stuff from Edemame, crab dip with chips, Mahi burger, chicken wrap, and it was all delicious! Everything was very well marinated, seasoned together, and there was not a bad meal! Employees were super friendly and efficient and would definitely be back if we were ever in Myrtle Beach again. we will definitely be back and try other options on their menu. Excellent Wings, Bring Money. I hadn't been here in several years (our children are older, the attraction of Broadway at the beach isn't in our house), but I had heard that the service was better than at their North Myrtle Beach location. I asked a friend who lives near here to join me. It was a Monday, not busy, and the bartender immediately greeted me. I ordered a New South Nut Brown Ale, one of the many craft brews available. It arrived in a plastic cup. It didn't make the beer taste any worse, but it sure seemed cheap. I ordered the smoked wings with the house rub. They arrived looking good and tasting good. The little plastic cup full of blue cheese dressing was tasty enough, and the included celery stalks didn't seem wilted. I prefer the non-gooey aspect of smoked wings (as opposed to the sloppy mess that most restaurants serve), because I've never believed gooey wings are "better." The big surprise came at the end. My check, for my order of eight wings and a craft beer ($7.50), came in at more than $32 (almost $40 with tip). That means that eight chicken wings were $22-25 for eight or nearly three dollars each. The menu said to ask the server for the price, but I didn't realize chicken wings would be as expensive as oysters. While they are good, I'll look for other options. The atmosphere, while it was a Monday, was pleasant enough. The service was okay, though like at the other location, the staff spent most of their time talking to a patron (regular or employee?) on the other side of the bar. I love the wings, but mediocre service, beer in a plastic cup (Gee, I feel welcome!), and "bend-over tourist" pricing put this on my "no" list. read more

Well, it came in a highball glass and I did complain, but I did drink the cocktail then I got to thinking, why did I accept That drink when a martini should be in a martini glass. When I complained and asked her to remove it from the bill she ran over to the manager and would not even come back to the table. The manager refused to take the drink off the tab. We enjoyed it, but could've used more chips in the order. Beer was reasonably priced for happy hour. The kids really enjoyed their food which was a hamburger, grilled cheese, and Mac and cheese. My husband had the hangover which he said had a lot of flavor; however, the egg could've been more runny. I had the cluck oink ranch wrap which was delicious.
