What really elevated the experience was the service. Zoe, our server, was incredibly friendly, attentive, and on top of everything throughout the meal. If you've never had polenta before, it's sort of a thick grainy oatmeal-like texture. The semifreddo was like if you took tiramisu, added more espresso, and condensed it down into a singular flat slice of cake / bread pudding (soft mushy texture). On a bed of farfalle (bowtie) pasta it comes with lamb pieces and a slightly spicy red sauce. All very delicious and I found it to be a very tasty dish. The only downside was the lamb chunks were not the usual, long and oddly sized, plus very chewy. Overall it didn't really diminish the dish. While we all were quite content and full our server brought out an incredible array of amazing looking desserts that would wow anyone. Unfortunately there just wasn't an appetite left for it. Instead of the light, fork-scored gnocchi we expected, it consisted of small, smooth puffs with very little texture. The promised lemon, olive oil, and parsley flavors were so subtle that the dish tasted flat and uninspired. Our table also shared several appetizers, but none of them stood out. Overall, the meal lacked the flavor, care, and attention to detail that we expected for a restaurant at this price point. What surprised us most was learning later in the evening that one of the servers was the owner's wife and our waitress was the owner's daughter. After members of our party quietly discussed our disappointment with the service, they approached our table and introduced themselves, with the daughter mentioning she had managed the restaurant for 13 years. Rather than reassuring us, it made the lack of attentive service even more surprising. For a dinner costing over $500 for six people, we expected excellent food and attentive hospitality. Unfortunately, neither lived up to our expectations. We left disappointed and, regrettably, won't be returning.
