Wow what a cool place. Wasn't expecting this at all. I got a few PS3 games like Arkham Origins and Battlefield and COD Ghosts. Basically to play through the campaigns I missed and get trophies. They have tons of cool retro item and games, consoles and more. Prices are great. It's all well stocked and laid out. They have movies and other stuff as well like cables, etc. All you need for retro gaming. It's like an old video game store of the old days. Service is good. Very impressed. read more

Not as much to pick from as I thought it would be since it's University city. The location near Walmart is better. I did find a cute gym top by Fabletics. That brand seems to be a winner and common at GW. Friendly staff member was conversational. Everything is well organized BY COLOR and store feels clean. Helps them straighten up faster than by size. Went in to find a desktop today and was very disappointed. 6 months ago you could easily find a refurnished Dell (i5, 16gb of ram, 500 mb HD) for $99. Today was a huge disappointment. They stop upgrading their desktops and there was nothing for old i3 Dell's with only 8gb of ram and to add insult to injury it was price $50 dollars higher at $149.00. Super disappointed. I walked out and brought a unit off of Ebay for $99 with free shipping with all the specs I wanted. read more

I walked around the store to look at everything just to get a good laugh at the prices. Needless to say I left the store empty-handed. It's a little out of the way but what a cool store. Donations - How many times have I tried to take a fully working computer to a reseller or recycling only to be told "No, we don't accept Macs" or other objections. They take everything here. Love it! Super disappointed with my return to the Grid this year. The shop is still nice and clean and all that good stuff... You'd never know it was Goodwill honestly. However the prices ares still to high for a "thrift store". This trip the video game selection was lacking and much smaller than last year, however it did seem that they had more consoles than my previous visit in 2017. The one thing I wanted to point out that really shocked me was their Raspberry Pi and accessories display that was created since my last visit. The prices are outrageous and about $10 over what Raspberry Pi's are sold at. For instance a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+, the current high end of the line sells everywhere for $35 brand new. That includes raspberrypi.org, and other retailers. The Grid wants $44.99. Power adapters that sell for $5 normally are selling for $10, and so on. Just outrageous and frankly predatory. Pretty much done with The Grid. There are definitely better places to pick up retro games and such in and around Charlotte. read more

I have visited the Grid a few times looking for odds and ends. The staff at this location is always friendly and helpful. The prices overall are pretty fair, and the store is well organized. It's certainly worth a stop if you're in the area or looking for a electronics or accessories. read more

Super clean and organized! I hadn't been up this way in a while and I certainly did not know this existed until this past weekend when I explored a bit. Definitely a great place to go if you are looking for computer parts or a bit of nostalgia for some old gaming systems. They had two people on staff for a Saturday so the store go pretty busy while I was perusing. The staff seemed to do their best to address everyone's questions. You can definitely find some deals, but I think the best part is probably doing your own research about tech instead of trying to rely heavily on the staff's help... and ESPECIALLY since their inventory is based on donations, so I would definitely not expect the staff to be an expert on every brand and item that lands on the shelves here. The store is organized really well and kept clean. All the items are grouped into sections, but you may have to do a little browsing to find any specific titles of games. Since I wasn't really in the market, it was just a nice day of window shopping for me. Glad to know a store like this exists in Charlotte. read more

Seriously? Where do you get off selling DONATED games at eBay prices? For example : Mega Man 6 for $99.99. Silent Hill 4 (XBOX) for $49.99. If the Grid were a non-profit business I could understand, but the fact that Goodwill is NOT a non-profit company that is horsesh*t. DO NOT SHOP HERE. The entire store in completely overpriced. Comparing their prices to the same items on eBay I discovered that all the items were more expensive and some of them were even priced at double what the same items in the same condition were going for on eBay. And on top of that, they have a no return policy. Meaning you can only get store credit if you need to return an item that is damaged or doesn't work properly when you get it home. Considering that all of the items in the store are donations it makes me even more angry that they are trying to jack up the prices. It is a scam, stay far away from this store. read more

A neat little store right down the road I never knew was there. I've driven past The Grid who knows how many times but only made my way inside last week. This is a wonderful little shop filled to the brim with used electronics. Older video games and consoles from NES and the original Playstation to the 3DS and Xbox 360. There are several refurbished PC's, laptops and monitors as well. The prices are fair too, much better than what you'll find at a chain game shop or electronics store. Give them a visit, you never know what goodies you might find. read more

I purchased a refurbished computer from " The Grid" a month and a half ago. I didn't think it was a bad idea because I've purchased ALL of my home computers, refurbished ,and no problems, lasted for years. So now I know, if a company offers you only a 30 day warranty on something as important as a computer... leave it there. Who knows how many times they've " refurbished it". So, after only a month and a half....the computer just STOPPED....And because it's been past 30 days....I'm out of 225.00 and a computer, with an " Oh well, it's been past thirty days" from the trusty tech. And they're more than likely, put in a $10.00 battery and resale again... NEVER buy electronics from " The Grid".... Horrible. They got one star because that's the lowest rating the system allows. read more

Like a trade it but better, this place is amazing for collectors, they sell boxes for consoles understanding that the value of a complete set is better than a set without its box. They have games and consoles for sell. I was skeptical thinking that I wouldn't like this store but its organized in a way that is easy to find things that you might be looking for, the staff are friendly and helpful. They have controllers, an actual raspberry pi wall, xbox 360s and other consoles in good condition for a wonderful price. They have desktop computer monitors, Headphones and other electronic items also. There was a complete genesis in the box yesterday and it was bought today. Things move fast here! My fiance is obsessed, and I can withstand this place way better than a trade it or hole-in-the-wall place, although being here about 5 times in the last two days has fatigued me. We will definitely be returning when we are in town again. read more

I have been visiting "The Grid" for YEARS and have bought used video games, game systems, digital cameras, video cameras, laptop computers, a boom box, DVDs, computer cables, and more than I could list. The prices are VERY reasonable, and the staff is friendly, and helpful. If you are into vintage games, this should be a regular stop. read more

Prices aren't stellar for each and everything. For e.g.Ethernet cables here are more costlier than the price you can get on Monoprice, shipped. Wierdest part is, the cables they carry, are Monoprice brand! Visit often and you'll find something good. Else, nothing much to see here. They price routers based on the size of routers.. small routers sell for 19.99, larger ones or ones with antennas sell for 24.99. This may work to your advantage :D Raspberry Pi kits and things are a few bucks costlier than online prices (even after factoring in shipping). I am not much into console gaming so i cant comment on game prices. I got a good deal on used 2.1 computer speakers. $25 for a Dell setup with a decent sub Then, once, I needed a ethernet switch to play CounterStrike with friends. I found a neat HP 8 port switch for $9.99. What more can you ask for ? :D I bought a Motorola SBG6580 from here for $38 but it had terrible Wifi issues. Though you can return it within 7 days, I've kept it and hope to use just the modem part. Do note that they might not have the exact thing that you need on a particular day. So if you stay in the UNCC area and into electronic stuff, keep visiting and you'll find some gem once in a while. read more

Great selection of mishmash computer equipment and video games and systems. This place is my little goldmine for finding classic games. They even occasionally have old Macs for sale. If you need a backup LCD monitor, this is the place to get it. It's not in the most desirable (or safest) area of town, but if you go in the daytime, you'll be okay. read more
