Margarita pizza

Pros: Nice open space Well made pizza to order Cons: No Immediate parking Arcade games more of a decoration The Greater Good is a nice little hang out spot to get a drink and some well made pizza with a bunch of friends. It's on the kid friendly side during the day which is a plus. Came here on a Saturday afternoon to meet up with some friends and their kids as well. The Greater Good features a nice open area on the first floor with picnic bench style tables. There's a nice little space on the second floor with some very old school arcade games. Parking wise, they don't have any immediate parking outside the bar. All parking is mostly on the side streets near by. The residents on these side streets also use the street as they have no driveways or garages. This makes finding parking at times really hard. On a cold day, this could be troublesome. We were a total of 6 adults and 7 children. I think the tables downstairs can fit 6 adults comfortably. There is one large table upstairs on the second floor. This was the only table that would fit our party. So, large parties coming in need to be aware of that. I think as long as you're not larger than 6 to 8, you should be fine. My favourite thing about this place is the built in pizza joint that have. They do a nice Brooklyn style pizza here. We ordered the Margarita and a 3 cheese pizza. I wasn't able to get a picture of the 3 cheese as the kids went at it as soon as the pizza arrived. I loved the pizza here. Very Neapolitan if you ask me. Nice thin crust with a little char on the bottom. That's the way I like my pizza honestly. You can get pizza with 8 really large slices made right to order for about $20, more than reasonable. When it comes to the arcade, it was a little on the disappointment side for me. I am a gamer at heart to this part did matter to me more. They have about 6-8 really old school arcade games here. The controls range from workable to just not working really well. They are all set to free play. There is a skee ball table and 2 pinball machines but you have to pay to play those. I feel like it they are here more for decoration than enjoyment really. The skee ball seems completely out of place because of the noise involved. It's hard to hear conversation when people are playing. Like I said, the I'm more critical here because I'm a gamer. I'm sure 99% of others won't feel the same. All in all, If you're in the area, The Greater Good is a nice little place to check out. If you like thin crust pizza, then you should definitely check it out for the pizza alone.

This is a great option for a bar for families. Upstairs is a retro arcade that the kids can go play. Downstairs the parents can enjoy a couple beers. Bench style seating allows for families to spread out. There's lots of space here. And what I visited there were actually a lot of families. There were lots of good options for beers on tap. This is a place to go for a beer. We tried a few that we did end up liking. If you're going in a group or as a family or just someone who likes arcades I recommend this bar.

I really love this place. The beer selection is great, there is generally something for everyone! North of Brooklyn is probably one of my favourite pizzas in Toronto, and $5 a slice only means you have more money for games! Most of the games are free. They seem to be well maintained and overall the vibe is just awesome. I'm giving 4 stars because the skeeball and pinball are not free. :(

Fantastic bar with a wonderful bartender. The pepperoni pizza from the north of Brooklyn pizza place that is inside the bar was actually pretty good for Canada pizza (I'm originally from Long Island NY). The free arcade games upstairs are always going to be a hit with me. For my money this place is an easy 5 stars.

Love the vibe of this bar. The open space and high ceilings feels like you have room to breathe. The smell of fresh neapolitan Pizza and wide beer list is a food lover's dream. The rustic decor isn't overkill but adds a nice touch. Came in the afternoon to have a bite and a pint. Saw kids and their families enjoying the space. There is a patio area outside and games on the upper level. Really awesome spot for reasonably priced food and drinks!

The beer selection has certainly improved since I was here last, to the point where I had two that I enjoyed. Here's to constant improvement!

Beer by candlelight. My favourite.

Well this is a hidden gem. Much of Dupont is up and coming, including this area. With the opening of Blood Brothers Brewing a few doors over, and Halo Brewery not so far, this area is a bit of a craft beer haven. I came here for the first time this past Saturday and instantly fell in love. It's just north of Dupont and tucked away, so you need to know it's here to get here. As a result, it was busy as the night went on but it didn't feel like the usual sardine scenario for a Saturday night. They have a solid craft beer and cider offering on tap(much like its old sibling bar, Get Well) and quite a few other options in cans bottles as well as some wine. North of Brooklyn has its own little house within the space to serve a whole pie or just a slice. This leaves the place smelling divine. Oh and did I mention the mostly free arcade games on the second level? I'm definitely coming back when I was a nice, chill bar with some great beverage options and tasty pizza. Feels righhht.

Amazing beer selection and nice vibe. Wish it had a bit more seating, but hey, otherwise it's perfect.

Review Highlights - The Greater Good Bar

I'm a big fan of the Get Well down on Dundas, and I'd say this place is better by far.

I would not hesitate to come back, but there are some things I would definitely not order again. Not order again: - mozzarella sticks - these were not cheesy, fresh, or flavourful, huge disappointment - prosciutto and zeppole - prosciutto were not very fresh or thinly sliced, weirdly presented with the zeppole on the side Will definitely order again: - heroic dose pasta - the pasta was so fresh, great sauce and plenty of mushrooms (my favourite dish) - NYC spicy rigatoni - really good flavours and the pasta texture was perfect (also homemade) - Caesar salad - so creamy and I think they make the sauce in house bc I tasted a hint of the anchovy umami flavour The pesto pasta was pretty good too. And so were all the pizzas. I can't comment much on the pizzas because I was heavily focused on their homemade pasta. Everyone enjoyed the pizzas though. The only things that was bad were the two appetizers we got. They also offer an extensive list of drinks - beer, wine, cocktails, mocktails. I really like this spot and will definitely be back!

Highlights: Arancini a bit sticky and spicy, Garlic Fingers are garlicky pizza strips, Casablanca Chicken Pizza thin and flavorful. Great spot for food and atmosphere.

Very nondescript outside facade - no sign telling you what it is other than a small "BSC" (for Bovine Sex Club) painted near the door. Hard to miss though as the exterior is made up a punk rock style sculpture of rusted bikes & other assorted ephemera. The interior is similar, visually. Great sound system & chill vibes pervade throughout. Weirdly the stage is right in the entrance of the club, on your left, with a long bar along the right side, heading back. Great, crowd, great location in cool area with lots of restaurants & plenty of parking - both on the street up to 2 hours & extended parking for a flat-rate of CA$20 (~$14 USD) from 6:00pm until the next morning, just 2 blacks away.

Are the beer cans running out? It's possible. But, it's a dive in the way of the old dives. And the acoustics for bands are... not great. But they are a sign of what once was. Without attempting to try to present a front of a time long gone, The Bovine simply exists today as it once did in that time long ago, before Smokes stickers, before iPhones, back when people would just go to a bar to talk with those they didn't know the morning prior. Bring cash though, unless you're looking to make some big orders, because credit card is a minimum fifty-dollar spend.

This man is a treasure--a multitalented musician who plays in many bands including The Lemon Bucket Orkestra. In season, you can catch Michael playing trumpet and singing with a jazz band on the back patio on Saturday evenings (5-8pm). The patio, accessible via an alleyway off Rolyat Street, feels like one of this neighbourhood's best kept secrets. Such a fun, chill vibe back there. Perhaps these Saturday shows will eventually move back inside, where they were held in the beforetimes, when the band sat cheek by jowl with customers in one of the city's most "intimate" performance venues. But whether Michael is performing behind the bar or on the back patio, the man is a marvel of multitasking. He'll perform part of a tune, set the trumpet down as the band plays on, take people's orders, prepare and serve drinks, and then pick up the trumpet and continue the song. So freaking cool. He also hosts a unique music listening event on Monday nights called Decide on the B-Side...don't forget to bring your favourite vinyl. As for the drinks, nothing fancy here, just a decent beer list and hard booze, mostly. But as described above, this bar is so much more. It's chock full of fun and character.
