We like FREE.....If your a family on a budget then you might want to check out this pumpkin patch. Free admission and free parking. What's free now a days ? There is a live band on the weekends, farm animals, pumpkin ice cream, BBQ, hay maze, corn kernel pool, dig, your own potato tractor rides and more. This place was off the chains today. The live band was rockin, people were dancing. I've never been to this patch until today. It was a load of fun and we enjoyed the corn kernel pit. They had 2 both with plenty of room. This location if off the beaten path. Plenty of parking too. I'm looking forward to coming back year after year

Experience was good considering it's free. The tractor ride and picking pumpkin is cute. The tractor driver today was not enjoying his role at all- and plainly displaying it- basically frowning and no engagement at all. The maze was perfect for small children- small and not intimidating. My daughter's favorite besides the ice cream. My daughter loved it. I spent extensive time giving the calfs a nice rundown which they desperately needed. The second calf from the end on the left looked in need of medical care- was breathing rapidly and extremely unhealthy looking. It broke my heart and nobody to speak to regarding it so hopefully my post is read and it is addressed... if I receive acknowledgment I may bump my review up. It was 90 degrees and fresh water was needed- it was not fresh for the animals. The mama cow was swarmed with hundreds of flies and baby calves stall and waters needed a cleaning. The hand stalls to wash hand were completely dry as well ( got a nice workout from trying to get last drops to wash hands) ALL four needed refilling. You could hear the pumps sucking up water and but not residual water... We purchased $4 home made ice-cream. Of pumpkin and vanilla ( 2-3 oz at the most) way too small of a portion. It was a plastic sauce/salsa container full of ice cream! If any other place would of not bothered but the heat and want to support the concept behind this business made it a must. A recommendation- something nice thing that the calfs- children and adults might enjoy is a providing a brush or two- to give the calfs a little extra needed TLC and brush down the calfs. My favorite was giving each a 5 min rundown which they doted on. Thanks you for opening your property to the communit but please take better care of your animals .

You've decide to give your kid the experience of a pumpkin patch. Your choices now include roadside pop up "patches" or rural wonders. This one is a rural wonder. You drive outside the city until you are sure your GPS has failed you. Then, you crest a hill and see a glitter of metal that only a sea of city folk cars could provide in the browned landscape. Now test your off-road skills in your SUV and park in the field. Breathe in the sweet fragrance of dust and hay. You're in the countryside! Pet the sweet patient calves. Get your sensory fix in the corn pits. Hone your way-finding skills in the hay maze. Take a tractor ride to pick a pumpkin and try some tasty food. Mission complete. Details: Port-a-potties on site. Food on site--cash only with ATM on site. Parking and activities FREE Atmosphere --very low key Bring a hat and sunglasses --limited shade space. Uneven walking surfaces--shoes advised :)

Nice pumpkin patch that has more of an authentic rural atmosphere than your typical "bouncy house" roadside pumpkin patch. This is located right on the dairy farm and you can pick your own or opt for some of the pumpkins already picked and out for display. Free admission gets you photo ops with the farm animals, a nice walk through the patch, relaxing farm views and the big "corn pit" and corn maze. Definitely a more authentic pick your own experience with tractor rides, cheese tasting, pumpkin treats for sale and fresh air in the countryside. This feels off the beaten path but in reality only about 5-6 miles outside of downtown Petaluma. Great stop for the family if you're looking for fall activities and fun on a budget. Pumpkins of all sizes for sale with what seemed to be average farm prices. Enjoyed spending some time here, even though I've already gotten this year's pumpkins. Maybe next year...

A view from the farm, pumpkins are in the distance.

This is a different pumpkin patch experience without the bouncy houses. Lots of open space with pumpkins, ice cream, cheese, BBQ, and other treats. There's live music on the weekends.

This has always been my favorite patch. It has enough to do without feeling overwhelming. Pumpkin selection was great, 2 huge corn pits, animals, tractor rides and HOMEMADE AMMMMMAZING ICECREAM! My toddler had a blast.

The great Peter Pumpkin Patch is on my first to go place during pumpkin patch season. We went there two days before they officially open but they pretty much got everything set up. As usual my son loved the corn pit and this year they have three!!! What a treat and my son was jumping from one to the other! We took some great pictures inside their pumpkin field and checked out those lovely animals. What a fun trip! We will be back next year!

Came here today and wasn't the experience we were expecting. It was very busy and a lot of people in a small area. And there were very few pumpkins in the patch to be cut along with the patch being much smaller than we anticipated. We also experienced that they hadn't cleared rotting pumpkins from smaller pumpkins that were precut for you to buy so there were flies and odd smells. Even though all activities were free, they were so packed that we couldn't enjoy any of them with our little one. We bought 3 mini pumpkins and 2 squashes which came to a total of $15. We also bought some pumpkin ice cream and pumpkin pie which were good. The one staff we interacted with was nice and helpful. This pumpkin patch did have the appeal of "old time" fun and might've been a nice experience if it hadn't been so busy/ things were a little more spread out over a bigger area and they'd actually had pumpkins in the patch to get.

The bigger the better!

This pumpkin patch is a real farm and it's fantastic! It is a bit outside the Petaluma city limits and the drive is bumpy and scenic. You are driving through those rolling hills enjoying the cows enjoying their cud and it just appears. Hay mountains ahead! There is a ton of safe and free parking, clean bathrooms and places to wash your hands. They have two hay stack mountains to climb on and lose pocket change, bonus if you find any. There are a few cute staged cut out wood things to take pictures with but the real star are the animals and the patch. They have a few rows of yearling calves you can pet and usually have a cow you can milk. If you haven't done it before do NOT pull the teat, just grasp and squeeze your hand together. Cows don't like their teats yanked, they kick too. There is always a farmer to help. The pumpkins are in the big patch and are priced by size; bigger ones are by the road (hint) tons of traditional and "fairy" ones. You can also dig your own potatoes, dirty but fun. They sample and sell Petaluma Valley cheeses and have ice cream too (get the pumpkin). They sell coffee too and everyone is very friendly and will chat happily about the farm. I went with about 20 kids and it was a great day! I highly recommend this farm, no bounce houses and tons of smiles.

Totally worth the drive from SF! We came here two years in a roll and the CORN PIT itself is worth the experience for kids and adult alike! Picking pumpkins in the field and digging potatos in the dirt was a fun activity for both my toddler and my parents. The many farm animals and the new maze was also fun to see and explore. Only thing is that city folks need to adapt to the flies roaming around while you eat your yummy pumpkin ice cream. It can get hot out there, pack lunch if you are visiting during the week. I imagine the weekend can be a mad house in the corn pit... all the activities are free which is really awesome in the Bay Area! You can't help but buy some pumpkins to support those kind folks!

I cannot wait to visit the pumpkin patch tomorrow! This will be my second annual visit to Spring Hill Farm's Autumn tradition. This place has everything you need for a fun day with friends or family. Last year we dug for several different kinds of potatoes, picked pumpkins, tasted and purchased their delicious cheese, and experienced the best pumpkin ice cream in my life. This visit is definitely a highlight of October and I can't gush enough about Peter Pumpkin Patch. =)

This place was pretty fantastic. Tons of pumpkins to choose from and plenty of fun things for kids to do. They allow dogs!! We were really glad we could bring in our pup, he had a blast running around on top of the hay bales. Their ATM wasn't working at the time, and we forgot to bring cash so we had to run in to Petaluma real quick to get some. They were working on getting the machine back up and running though, so just be sure to bring cash to the Pumpkin Patch.

This was a great pumpkin patch. As I remember it, they even had a spot where kids could milk a cow. Sorry it doesn't seem to exist anymore.

The mini white pumpkins had some imperfections and started at $4 so I unfortunately decided to pass on them. There are some cute photo ops, and there's an ATM on site. The corn maze is probably one of their most popular attractions but my fiancé and I decided not to do it. There's a children's playground that's extra cost, some turkeys, chickens, lambs and horses in the pens. There are some stands for corn dogs, popcorn and lemonade. Lots of parking. I think what's nice about this pumpkin patch is it's free entry and you pay for the stuff you want to participate in/buy which is nice!

There are tons of bounce houses, of which the smaller are included in the entrance fee and the larger ones cost $ to participate -- which a punch pass can be purchased for. We went on a Sunday. The price for adults was $7 each, and the price for our 7-year-old was $5. You get a stamp on your hand, but be careful because it easily washes off. I recommend getting stamped on your inner wrist. The food was expensive -- $30 for 3 tacos and 1 drink -- but I suppose that's to be expected at a venue such as this. A platter of Dino chicken nuggets and fries was $10, and the cotton candy was $8. Parking is free. Bathrooms are porta potties and gross, as you can imagine. Staff are friendly. The haunted trail is recommended for kids ages 12+, and I would agree that little kids should not be on this trail. It is more gory than it is haunted. There are several buildings along the trail, and may be 2-3 of the building could be seen as more haunted, but the rest of them were very gory. One was outright bloody (think scenes from Texas Chainsaw Massacre). The punch pass has no expiration date so can be used again at a future visit. The property is really large, so even though there are a lot of people, it doesn't feel extremely crowded even if the parking lot is packed. I would recommend this place for families who have older kids who aren't yet teenagers. And skip the haunted trail if you have a little ones with you.

But kept walking bro the jumpers to admire the kids play. It can wet very hot here during October too especially peak afternoon, which is why we go early. Also expensive, tickets for everything, and then food separately. Peterson's Farm is a small working farm in a hilly rural area just outside of Petaluma. Don't expect a huge parking lot, jumpy houses, sprawling corn mazes and haunted houses. Peterson's is small, intimate, quaint, and low-key. The grounds are very pretty with many trees, barns and fields, etc. However, the patch is rather small and I agree with another reviewer who mentioned the pumpkin selection was pretty slim for early October. They probably have a lot of schools going there to pick up pumpkins during the week. On the grounds you'll find adorable cows, bunnies, ponies, chickens, and geese that you can feed. There are many beehives, a couple apple trees, and a small barn where you can purchase honey and other things like tomatoes and soap (if they have any in stock). The farm is perfect for small children or babies. I wish the areas surrounding the patch were a little more maintained. There are a few dilapidated fences and structures that are laying around in piles and instead of being removed, just have caution tape around them. These "props" did not look good in the background of the photos I was trying to shoot of my toddler picking a pumpkin. Overall this place is really cute and perfect for small children. They have wagons that you can take out to the field to haul your pumpkins back. Luckily, Peterson's doesn't get too crowded on the weekends and there was plenty of parking in their small lot. The pumpkins are reasonably priced according to size, rather than weight. Bring cash because they don't take cards.

My husband and I laughed at a family that showed up dressed, well, for a stroll in the city... The mother all but had high heels on.
