I had a friend coming to visit Sonoma County from the East Bay and she had done some research to…read morefind a PYO flower place. She found First Light Farm and recommended that we try it out. We pulled in through the gates and saw a small field of flowers to the left, along with a shed-like structure and a house in the back. The right side was pretty empty; I'm guessing whatever was growing there had already been harvested. We stood around for a few mins pretty confused about how it all worked. We found a sign saying that CSA members get to cut for free and a pricing chart for non-members. There were clippers and a knife sitting next to a stack of boxes, so we grabbed one of each and headed for the garden. The selection wasn't quite what we expected, but we still got a great bunch of flowers and sunflowers. Some were a little difficult to access from the walkways, so we just tried to be as careful as possible. When we were done, we tried to pay, but there wasn't really a designated place to leave money, so we just stuck it under a box inside the shed area (I hope they got it!). Very cute place! A little confusing for first-timers, but overall a nice experience.

This is hands down the best asian market in Vallejo and it isn't even close. The store is…read moresurgically clean, no smell, even at the fish market. Security doesn't play and have a strong presence at the front door. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The selection of fresh fish, vegetables, and hard to get items is fantastic. Muscat grapes, yes. Cherimoya (custard apple), yes. San Miguel Negro, yes. My father was on the hunt for San Miguel Negro for decades, and he can now get it here at a good price anytime he wants. The dim sum is a bit overpriced. If you find them at the right time you can get a great price on Dungeness Crab. They also will clean and cook your crab, fish or shrimp free of charge. Might be a better option that Soltrans.......yeah I said it. I go here almost every week. Love it!

168 Market is a sister market to 99 Ranch Market. It located off Sonoma Blvd and Sereno Dr. (next…read moreto Walmart) so it's not the best area to be hanging around, but I do not plan on hanging out, just grab what I need and leave. Make sure you don't have any valuables visible in your car to minimize any break-in issues. This store, although good size, is not as big as the 99 Ranch Markets that I have been to. They do carry most of the Asian items that most people would look for. There is a nice bakery section and steam table food area where you can pick up come roast pork, roast duck, dim sum and Chinese takeout for lunch/dinner. The store is clean overall and checkers are efficient. Service and friendliness of the employees are comparable to most Asian Markets, nothing great, just get the job done. We found the prices of items to be slightly higher than prices at the Asian Market in Vacaville (County Square Market), but the market in Vacaville is much smaller. For the area, it's nice to leave an Asian Market of this size, so I can't complain.

In my opinion it's an affordable and convenient option as opposed to the big grocery stores for certain things. There was a young man who worked there who was so helpful. I've moved out of state so I'm not sure if he still works there--but he happened to have a great look so I snapped a photo (with his permission) and began a painting of him with all the produce in the background. The traffic can get really intense around there on certain days--especially Sunday afternoons. So I tried to go during light traffic times. It is a lovely proposition in a lovely valley. Open early in the morning and late into the evening in the summer.

Most farm stands are closed for the season come December but Sonoma Fruit basket was open. They had a decent selection of winter squash, citrus fruits, heirloom tomatoes, spinach, peppers and so much more! They have some pre packaged items as well. Service was friendly, prices were fair and cheaper than grocery store produce. It's a partially open air market at the front with cover on the rest. Lots of parking. Really good option in the area for fruit and veg needs.
