What a wonderful lavender bee farm!! I've visited much bigger lavender farms in Texas in the past. This farmer is not big by any means in comparison but it's so well maintained, charming, and so beautiful. They only open for about a month during lavender season in early summer. So pencil that in on your calendar to email or call b/c it's by appointment only. The tour is $15 per person and it's well worth it. The owners JoAnn and Rick gave a very informative tour of the property, lavender fields, bee-keeping, and the history of the farm. There are plenty of photo ops and you'll also get to meet Bob who is the master dog at the lavender bee farm. The best part of the tour is the tasting in the end IMO. JoAnn served us samples of local artisan cheese and fresh watermelon drizzled with lavender honey. OMG they tasted sooooo freaking fantastic!!! And how can I forget about that lavender lemonade. WOWZ!!! After the tour, you are free to explore on your own and/or buy honey and gifts from the small gift shop. I picked up a bottle of lavender honey for $18. I can't wait to return next year and take my parents there, too! Love love!! read more

I purchased this lavender about 7 years ago and I just HAD to come on here and comment that it still smells as good as the day I purchased it! My husband and I are always in shock of how potently delicious the lavender still smells! :) our toddler happened to snag a lavender bud and I only knew because I could smell it 6 feet away from where she was standing with it in her little hand. we are moving back to California soon and can't wait to visit to get some more lavender! read more

Drove up for some fresh air and to do some plant shopping. A beautiful garden and the lavender labyrinth can't be beat, very unique and special. Only downside is a lot of selfish people not wearing masks - plenty of signs up but nobody wearing them. I understand if you want to take it off for a photo but you should wear it the rest of the time and I'm hoping staff can help enforce this better for the future. Otherwise a lovely place with healthy flowers, amazing olive oil and honey, and cute ducks. We even saw some hares running in the distance! Not too far a drive from sf, just an hour, and about 10 mins from the main parts of Santa Rosa with more businesses to enjoy for a lunch break. A nice weekend escape that I highly recommend. read more

Stopped by, unfortunately it's the beginning of October and the lavender fields are not in bloom. However we met the owner who most gracious and welcoming. He told us all about the history of the farm and the processing of the honey/lavender. Couldn't leave without a jar of honey and soaps! Thank you so much Rick for welcoming us. read more

Visiting this lavender farm has been a goal of mine for a few years. I organized a tour with several friends and their children. Rick had JoAnne could not have been more patient or gracious. They served us lavender lemonade and it was delicious! Remember this is a working farm. In order for them to have beautiful fields of lavender and delicious honey, they work hard daily. Make sure you call first. Several people just showed up when we were there and it really disrupts their day. I put it on my calendar at the beginning of May to call because the lavender is usually in bloom at the end of May and beginning of June. Make sure you call ahead to book a tour. They are both fantastic and their farm is gorgeous and their products delicious and well made. We had a wonderful visit. read more

I called yesterday afternoon and left a message in their machine hoping to schedule a visit for the next day. Within two hours, I got a call back from Rick (owner) telling me that I was more than welcome to swing by the next morning. Got to the farm around 9:30 and Joann (other owner) was there to welcome us. She was super sweet and knowledgeable! Not only were we able to sample some lavender honey, she also gave us a quick tour of the barn where the magic happens and let us roam her lavender field! This was originally planned to be a quick stop to get some lavender honey, but it definitely became more than just a detour, it was the highlight of our trip to Sonoma! I can't stop raving about this place. Just go! Especially now when her lavenders are having and amazing blooming moment! PS- They have two super friendly dogs! TLDR: Great hosts, beautiful lavender field, amazing and reasonably priced lavender products, 2 dogs. read more

Rick and Joanna are a super sweet couple, they gave us some great knowledge about lavender and beekeeping. During the tour they gave us some cheese with lavender honey and lanverder lemonade that was really refreshing! The farm is blanketed with the color purple, it is a wonderful place for families and friends. Definitely a place for weddings as well. I booked a private engagement photo session at Lavender Bee Farm last June. I was able to visit the property before hand to tour the property and scope it out. The fee to hold a private photo session was $200. Rick and Joann, the owners of the property are lovely and kind people. Not only do they love the lavender, the bees and other animals on their farm but they love to meet people. You can tell because they are so accommodating and friendly. My photographer was able to enter the site and scope out photo locations before our session. We were also treated to champagne, lavender lemonade and cookies before our session by Rick and Joann. They also offered us water bottles to take with us around the property. Our photo session ended up being spectacular and so much more beautiful than I ever imagined. Rick and Joann were so kind to let us wander their property freely and we also got a tour and info about the bees and the farm. At the end of the session Joann gave me a medium sized beaded satchel filled with lavender. It has since filled my car with the lovely, dreamy lavender scent. Note: It is a bee farm so during this time the bees were swarming all over the place. You can hear a faint buzz and feel them flying around you. Slightly terrifying but nonetheless a beautiful lavender farm. I felt like I was in Provence. read more

This is the most wonderful place! The owner took us in last year, and showed us around his property. Despite us dropping in with no warning he allowed us to sample all of his lavender honey and lavender products and even let us pet his big friendly dogs. Like one of the earlier reviewers, I called the Lavender Bee Farm to see if they'd permit me to use their farm as the backdrop for an engagement photoshoot. JoAnn and Rick very flexible and agreed to the date I asked for with less than a week's notice. They also responded to questions quickly when I emailed to ask for test shots to see how the flowers were looking since our photographer was concerned about whether the flowers were bloomed out. It turns out something about lavender photographs really well and it still had a beautiful purple/lavender hue in the pictures. JoAnn was so sweet when we arrived, giving us a tour of the grounds and helping to check out all the spots available. She even offered us lemonade and set out a picnic cloth on the table where we were getting ready. Our photographer loved the picnic cloth and shady spot right by the house so he started snapping pictures right there. After the photoshoot, JoAnn and Rick were kind enough to give us more helpful tips about a nearby beach for an additional location to take more pictures at.
