I originally booked this appointment last minute after another stylist canceled on me the day before a trip - and honestly, I'm so grateful that happened, because I would've never found Grace otherwise. Sometimes things really do work out the way they're supposed to. She absolutely killed my haircut. I have curly/wavy, thick hair, and she knew exactly how to work with it - something that's hard to find. The shape, the movement, everything came out better than I imagined. Also, the vibe was amazing - super welcoming, relaxed, and just overall such a great energy the entire appointment. Grace is also genuinely so sweet, which made the whole experience even better. She did what I requested but the result is not satisfying rather dissapointing. Hair has been trimmed way too much - usually trimming and layering done in the inner layer of the hair, not outer layer but somehow she did both inner and outer which makes my hair look very messy. It was $85 total not including tips ($10 extra charge due heavy hair). If I could reverse time and decide whether or not to get a haircut, I wouldn't at least with Nina.

Since LuJia does not do dyes or other chemical treatment, there was no burned hair or chemical smell, which I usually dread going in. I asked for my very thick hair to be shortened and thinned to a low-maintenance haircut. LuJia suggested a v-shape cut, which was great for me because despite cutting it short, there is enough length to still tie it up. She also did a great job of thinning it, and my head feels a lot lighter! LuJia is very nice, and accommodating when I wanted to change my originally scheduled appointment. We had a great conversation during my cut. Unrelated to hair, I love that she uses reusable towels instead of paper towels in the bathroom, which is good for the environment. In any case, there's only one person whom I trust with: 1. Babylights or really fine highlights 2. Hair smoothening to remove the frizz. The toner or the gloss could be better. I go to a different salon in Saratoga for the babylights to be touched up properly with dark brown+gold toner sometimes. Because they always leave the highlights brassy looking here. It's unfortunately that I have a Part 1 (highlights) here and a Part 2 (toner/gloss) elsewhere but that's the way I prefer it.
