Delicious food and awesome atmosphere loved the most best part they allowed dogs on the patio. Very good place and awesome service. Will be back.

Yellow perch & chips, kung pao Brussels sprouts, and the mango, pineapple, jalapeño margarita

Wow! I was recommended Jacks by a friend in California who'd stayed here and by a local colleague here in Kingsville. It's my first time in the area so had to stop by. I was not disappointed. My server was the most friendly, welcoming, attentive, just overall ball of sunshine and I loved her energy. I started off with the Peach Melba Bourbon Smash (can't pass up a chance to have some delicious Bulleit. It was a little too sweet for my liking but it was still good. For my appetizer I had the fried artichoke hearts and they were perfectly cooked and breaded and the sauce bed they lay in was pretty tasty as well. For my meal I ordered the yellow perch and chips with a side of kung pao brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were phenomenal! Absolutely try the Brussel sprouts if you stop by. The perch and fries were good as well. The coleslaw.... Well, I'm a southern girl so it just wasn't my cup of tea, but hey, can't win 'em all right? I expect a cup of sugar in my coleslaw lol. With my dinner I had the Mango Pineapple and Jalapeño margarita and it was delicious. I will absolutely come back to Jacks, in fact, next time I plan to book a room for my stay.

A fantastic gastropub and nano-brewery! Portions are generous, without being overwhelming, and wait staff is friendly and helpful! I had the pork loin, which was tender and flavourful, with ice cream and a light fluffy brownie for dessert; both were fantastic. Their coffee Cream Ale, brewed in house, paired wonderfully with both.

Came home to Windsor this past weekend for my sister's bridal shower. Sunday, we had nothing planned and decided we wanted to go out for lunch out in Kingsville, since we were staying in Harrow. It's nice to come home and see the beauty of Essex County when you have moved away for a while. We stopped in at Jack's Gastropub, because I've heard so much about this place. The exterior to this place is an old house/inn situated with a patio. It's very quaint and the patio was filled with patrons, so you know you're going into something good. I went with my sister and a friend of ours on a Sunday afternoon around 1:30pm, and the place was packed. We walked up the stairs into the restaurant so we could get seated, waited for a couple minutes then was seated outside on the patio. The day was warm, cool in the shade. The whole ambiance and atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. The staff on duty were very friendly, and always on top of our needs. The menu was full of selection and my friend and I decided on the Canadian Club with sweet potato fries. There was a choice of two dipping sauces, so we each had one of them and shared, both delicious. I loved this sandwich. The chicken was cooked to perfection, not dry at all, the cheese was delicious, and it had thinly sliced apples on it, what a crunch. My sister got the Irish Nachos, in which we all indulged in. The cheese sauce was delectable, the pulled pork was sweet and full of flavour and the kettle chips had that perfect crunch. Next time I come home to visit, I'll be looking to bring my boyfriend who isn't from around this area to this place to show him what Windsor/Essex County is all about. One of the best things about Jack's is they pride themselves on sourcing from local growers and farmers around Essex County, and makes you proud to know where you came from.

A lovely and quaint place for lunch or dinner! The service was friendly and efficient and the food was just fantastic! I visited twice in 24 hours because I was determined to try as much food as possible! For dinner I ordered the beef brisket sandwich which was the perfect size and came with fresh cut fries and a delicious sauce for dipping. The beef was incredibly tender and flavourful! I followed this up with the dessert spring rolls which were absolutely to die for! If you can avoid sharing them, make sure you do haha! The next day for lunch I came back and tried the Canadian Club sandwich on naan bread and just loved the crunch of the apple with the delicious grilled chicken and sauce. The only thing I really didn't like was the coleslaw. Even though a friend who had visited warned me in advance of its lacklustre flavour, I still ordered it anyways to see for myself and the verdict is consistent. It's lacking serious flavour unfortunately. Other than that, a great place to eat and visit (especially in the warmer months when the garden is in bloom).

Panko crusted pickerel

To be honest, we were a bit disappointed with our meal experience based on many great reviews I read. We sat in the bar and waited for our seats. My husband and I got a local cream ale, it was quite good although mine didn't quite have the same flavours as his. I didn't see them change kegs, but maybe it was the glass. For the meal itself, we ordered Panko-crusted pickerel with fries and slaw. The sides were pretty good, but the fish, which admittedly we had great expectations for, was not so good. It was rather dry and lacked flavour. They put rosemary in the coating which we found over-powering and the raspberry tartar sauce was too sweet. We would have preferred a basic tartar. It felt like they were trying too hard by creating these flavours which didn't really match. It also took quite some time to get our food. By the time we sat down the place had quiet down considerable. But maybe some staff had to take a break after the rush. Regardless, the setting is very nice and I'm sure the other dishes are worth trying. But I'd stick to more traditional options next time.

The food here is amazing! We sat on the heated patio in mid February and were very comfortable. We had perch tacos and the spicy jack burger. Awesome! Local beer was a milkshake IPA... over all just a great spot for food and atmosphere.

LOVED this place!! My husband and I came to the area for a weekend getaway from Pittsburgh and found this place on Yelp when searching for a dinner spot. Every staff member was friendly and we loved the unconventional location situated inside an old house- very unique. We shared the poutine for an appetizer and I had a small caesar salad. Both delicious! For our mains we tried two of their specials. The pork shank mac n cheese, and the butcher bill burger. Everything tasted amazing! Great quality food that we'll definitely enjoy the next time we're up here visiting!

Food is mediocre at best and over priced. Their attempt at being modern and hip is having a very small menu with exorbitant pricing.

I ordered from the manning location Sunday evening. Just…read morelooking at the calamari, i could tell it was overcooked. The batter to calamari ratio, obviously low due to the crispiness and burnt look. The calamar was dry and rubbery. Inconsistent deep frying. The fish, again, just by the looks undercooked. The batter very light, soaking wet and absolutely no flavor. I opened it up and the fish was next to raw. My cat loves fish and he went up to it, took a sniff and shook his head and walked away....So, What does that tell you. Serving raw fish to patrons is just as bad as serving them raw chicken. parasites, worms and bacterial infections.......When I called to complain, the guy on the phone actually tried to blame uber....TThen naturally offers me a free meal......Ummmmmmm No Thank you. The music was blaring and I really don't think this kid had a clue as to the severity of serving this garbage. I will be contacting the Windsor - Essex health unit regarding this matter in hopes that nobody else has to experience this. Needless to say, I took pics, kept one piece and the rest was in the garbage.

I've travelled quite a bit to Sarnia on business. I've heard from local colleagues that I should try Halibut House Fish and Chips. What drew me was the fact that they served haddock as one of the fish, and I have had fond memories of haddock fish fry. My colleague and I went there the other night and we really enjoyed our dinners. Both of us tried the haddock (and I also tried the cod which was also excellent). I loved the accompanying cole slaw which was not mayonnaise based, but vinegar based. The fish was a very large portion. It was not greasy (because they fried it at a high temperature), and it was flavorful. Lots of other places don't pay much attention to frequent change out of their fryer oils which take on a bitter taste and will be imparted to the food. That's because the structure of oil has changed from their use. This was not an issue at Halibut House. I didn't notice any after-taste. My compliments to the crew for paying attention to these details. The batter was very light and it complemented the fish, which was very fresh. As the frequency of my travel there is increasing, they can count on my future visits.

Beware your car! They have painted and redesigned the inside and outside. They have a few tables inside but it looks like it transformed into more of a takeout place. We ate in cuz by the time we got home it be cold we wanted hot food. Ordered 4 piece fish with fries, hushpuppies and a drink. We split it. 2 pieces each. It was hot and as I remembered. Can't beat that crunch on the fish. Fries were not quite as crispy. But ok. I like the chips/fries they are thick and good with malt vinegar. Lots of people taking out after work. It's a popular stop. Much better than last time I was here. Doesn't smell like a fried fish when you leave. Much cleaner too. Good fish. Chicken as I recall is good too. Light batter and crunch. Flavorless lemon pie- literally lightly sort of just smelled like lemon but otherwise was super plain. The fish pieces were lukewarm and lacking in flavor and somewhat dry. The chicken was bad- like two nuggets from McDonald's but also dry. The drink cups are only like 10 or so ounces which is quite small.
