I don't seem to have that problem too much since training with Kevin. He helped me pick out new irons, my old set I bought off Craigslist and was missing clubs. I visited to get my distances dialed in, and got assistance after with an email of the report. Turns out it was a single video of someone else. After several days of waiting, I finally got a report with some data. But Carry and Total Distance were not available - whether via browser or the Trackman app. Then I was told I had to have signed into the their bay when I was onsite. But when I arrived onsite with a buddy, we both said we need help getting set up and thus we thought we were - turns out that wasn't the case. Seems to me that if you know Trackman this place may be worth a try. If you don't, you should learn before you go or risk the chance of not having key data available after the session. Unfortunately, with all the back and forth and the fact I never got the 2 most important data points I wanted (the reason I signed up was to dial in iron and wedge distances) I would reconsider going here. When I suggested that all employees become proficient in Trackman and asked what they thought I heard nothing back. Probably worth a try, but, buyer beware. If I were the shop owner, I would have offered a return session on the house. This never crossed their minds. Too bad.

I was invited for a round of golf by my cousin and her husband who are members. I had never heard…read moreof the Richmond Country Club, but it is a members only course. It's been about 8 years since I played regularly, so I am trying to get myself out there and take advantage of the summer, exercise and friendly competition. I arrived early for our late morning tee off, so I found myself at the bar celebrating a pre-birthday mimosa while getting my game face ready. The place was somewhat empty that morning, but the golf course was a steady flow of players. Without a drivable cart, we were lagging behind others who had one and were better - so we tried to hurry up and let others play through to catch up. Overall everyone was nice and the timing worked out. After 9 holes, there's a snack shack with sandwiches, hot dogs, ice cold beer and beverages. It's like the reward you've been waiting for. I had a nice cold Lagunitas IPA and hung out with my family enjoying the scenery. I had a blast at Richmond Country Club and look forward to going back again after a few more rounds of practice.

Update: a few people have written me asking about my review over the years and why i would…read morerecommend not joining the club. While i do think the course is great, (except for holes 2-4, which are kinda shoehorned in) Mike Iker and the board that support him at Richmond are completely incompetent. There was an incident where a very rich, very well connected group hit into ours over and over again. There was a confrontation, and because a guest of a member in my group used a curse word toward the group that had hit into us and cursed at us multiple times, we were asked to write a formal apology to the group that went out of their way to try to injure us and also be jerks. When i met with the board, other members were on my side and explained to "mr" Iker that he was clearly wrong and that if anyone should apologize, it was the other group. He was unrelenting and in the end, six of the younger members ended up leaving the club because we were harassed by the group in question, and by Mike himself. I received apologies from the GM and the head of sales, who were both very nice, for Mike's behavior, and multiple people have apologized to me since. I could see rejoining the club if i got an apology from mike and the club, and a clear outline of how they hope to change, but i generally dont hold my breath on stubborn cowards doing the right thing. edit: Mike emailed me after I wrote this review to awkwardly, cowardly, and sarcastically thank me for my feedback. I don't think there is anything on earth that sums him and the club up as well as that. You're welcome for saving you all from these sad husks of excuses for men.

I have been playing golf 1.5 years before I maxed out at a 24hcp. I am almost 4 months in (7 lessons total) and am currently sitting at a 18hcp. We joked that's about 1 stroke per lesson! Hopefully I can update down the line with my final numbers. I chose NCGA because of the tech. It's so much easier when you can work on something technical and see the improvements in the data. I am driving from San Francisco so you know it has to be worth it for the commute. So far so good!

Since my initial review, I've had a lesson dedicated to chipping and a tune-up lesson for my driver. The chipping lesson helped tremendously for scoring once I was within 75 yards of the flag, and the driver lesson helped me get turned and off my back foot. Gary added back the 30-40 yards I mysteriously lost on my driver (it was to the point I thought my driver was broken lol). I will continue to vouch for Gary! I especially appreciate how he doesn't get too technical in his lessons. He gives you "feel" tips so that you don't have to think as much. One example: I wasn't getting fully turned, so Gary asked me to feel like I was getting my right shoulder blade looking at the ball. That's a lot better than "Just turn more". Go to Gary! He is awesome.

Used to be 5/5, now 2/5…read more Driving range tee boxes used to be good, now you won't find tees on most areas or turf that isn't worn out Almost every tee box on the course has been worn out to the ground. Tee location selection is almost 50% of the strategy on the course. First and second fairways could kill you as range balls fly into the fairway all the time. Yep, they haven't covered them My parents and my son saw golf for the first time on this course, now all visitors are banned from the course There's no Marshall so pace of play is pathetic on weekends, with amateurs taking 4-5 shots per Restaurant staff could've played play a much more integral role to the driving range and the course but they don't give a damn. Even the hostess faces the parking lot, rather than the driving range booths Overall, this course is a shining example of third-class management converting a diamond back into coal
