I've been a here a few times for lunches and dinners with my company. It's a high end kind of place that is typically above what I'm willing to spend on dinner but the ambiance, food and service are all excellent. If cost isn't an issue, then this place will not disappoint. The staff has always been outstanding and the food has always been excellent. I've never seen or heard anyone I've been there with complain about either service or food on any of my visits. The decor is upscale yet cozy. I also love the history of the place. Fascinating. I'd recommend giving it a try for that special occasion or anytime you're on someone else's dime.

We just had our daughters wedding this past weekend. Glen Sanders was perfect the food, staff, Ceremony and reception was perfect. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for Place to hold your event.

My husband and I had our wedding reception here in November of 2015 and the entire experience was amazing. I think most of the reason is due to the fabulous event planner they have working at this Mazzone property, Maria. She was one of my favorite parts of the entire experience. We met with her several times during the planning process, from our initial meeting picking which package we wanted, to even setting up a meeting with Angelo Mazzone himself. She thought it would be neat to introduce him to my father who is "off the boat" as they say...Angelo was equally as great and they both did everything they could to accommodate our wants and needs. The reception all happened so fast, and I didn't really have time to take it all in on that night, but a few things really stood out to me. The food was incredible, my husband and I got to sample all 4 of our food options...they even provided him with an order of chicken tenders and fries to satisfy his craving. The food during cocktail hour was also delicious, specifically the pork, calamari, gnocchi...ugh I drool thinking about it as do my family members when we talk about it. The presentation, with the sparklers and music while serving dinner, was all impressive. The way the ballroom looked all decorated with items we brought in, as well as uplighting from our DJ, looked amazing. Overall, our reception was beautiful and I wish I could do it all over again. The hotel itself was also great, we utilized the large suite, which was big enough to accommodate our bridal party of about 20 people during cocktail hour. We didn't spend too much time in the room to comment much on anything else. However, the staff did provide us with leftover food and desserts from the wedding itself that we were able to take home and enjoy in the days and weeks following the wedding. The ONLY reason I am not giving a 5 star rating is because I think we should have gotten the room for free being that we spent a large amount of money having our reception there. We did have to pay the standard rate, which just seemed a little silly to me.

Came here for a conference which included a breakfast, lunch, and snacks. The venue itself is a great location with a view. The parking lot seemed to overflow with cars for the conference I attended estimating a hundred fifty people. The interior is well decorated and clean, and the historic part of the mansion makes it charming. We made use of a few of their rooms both upstairs and downstairs. The grand ballroom is the largest space and decorated with chandeliers, while multiple projection screens allowed for the conference. The only downfall of the entire conference which lasted 8 hours total was the temperature control. It seemed to be just a bit drafty at first but then we heard the air conditioner turning on and off, and most of us had to put on our outerwear so that we wouldn't turn into icicles. The breakfast was served buffet style (french toast, fresh fruit, bagels, muffins, coffee, and tea). Lunch was delivered straight to the table including a bread basket (with flatbread, crackers, sliced baguettes), a tomato based soup, chicken milanese with orzo, eggplant rollatini with pasta, and lemon - raspberry cheesecake. The bread basket came with a side of simply whipped butter/oil/basil garlic butter which was delicious. The soup was very tomato-ey and rich, an appetizing start for me personally...but sorry, not fit for those with gastric reflux! The chicken milanese was well executed and stayed crispy on the outside and moist inside. The orzo was a tasty combo with the chicken, and reminded me to make it more frequently at home. The eggplant rollatini with pasta unfortunately was a disappointment due to its firm exterior, dry and crumbly interior which indicated possible overcooking. The pasta also suffered from the same fate, dry and bland. The lemon raspberry cheesecake was creamy but I didn't find it to be spectacular. At the end of the day, we were treated to more desserts that were self-serve, including apple cider donuts, parfaits, mini cakes, fruits, and candies. Before departing we also took advantage of the scenic view surrounding the mansion for some creative photography fun! Overall a solid choice for corporate events, weddings, and other functions. I wouldn't mind coming here again!

AWARENESS: Knowing months ago my son would be finishing up…read moreschool in Ballston Spa, I tried to make reservations close to him. Lucky for me, nothing was available and I ended up booking here at the Homewood Suites in Schenectady. NARRATIVE: The wife and flew into Newark from Sacramento on the "red eye" and arrived here at the hotel just after 1 pm on Thursday, August 2, 2018. We were told our room wouldn't be ready for a few hours so, we used the extra time to explore the area and have lunch. When we returned shortly after three, we were handed our complementary waters and the keys to room #521. Entering the room, I noticed this king, one bedroom suite was bigger and nicer than any of the other Homewood Suites I've stayed at in the past. Room #521 is only one of two balcony rooms on the top floor with a rivers view. The room has an opening french door leading to a small balcony which has a small table and two chairs; and if the weather is good. The view of the Mohawk River below is spectacular, peaceful and very relaxing. The Rivers Casino is just over the river and is within walking distance from the hotel. A right turn from the hotels parking lot on Freemans Bridge Road will take you to Route 50 and TWO stores where you can purchase beer, wine and spirits. This road also takes you to Lowes and Walmart. Everything is very close and within walking distance. ** Hotel staff were always friendly and very helpful. SYSNOPSIS: Based on the totality of everything like; cleanliness, amenities, noise, professional and helpful staff, scenery and the ease and proximity of shopping. I'd rank this Homewood Suites as the BEST Hilton property I've ever stayed at. RECOMMENDATIONS: I'd only recommend a few changes to help things out and better the guest experience. 1. I'd suggest soft closing toilet seats be installed in all the rooms. The sound of a slamming toilet seat sucks. 2. I'd recommend the hand sanitizer already in place at the entrance to the dining area be moved on the direct and opposite wall, next to the threshold where guest get their plates, food and drinks. Out of site equals out of mind. If the guest see the hand sanitizer next to where the food, they'll use it. 3. I'd recommend non-slip mats for all the hotel room shower-tubs. ** Initially, my room didn't have one. When I talked to Marcia at the front desk and asked about one for my room. She insured me I'd get one. When my mat arrived later in the day, I was told Marcia actually left the hotel and purchased a new mat for me and the room. Marcia, I thank and applaud your hard work and dedication. I wish there were more like you and kindness alone warrants a FIVE star rating from me. I'd highly recommend this hotel for your next visit and stay!

The location is ok, you have to get in your car for everything but the restaurant next door. I stay at Homewood suites constantly and what disappointed me here was the mediocre stocking of kitchenware just 4 items of anything (plates bowls, cutlery that bends) no real utensils for cooking (why people go to suites!). Small things that I expect at Hiltons like hot coffee in the lobby--nope whatever is left from breakfast. There is no housekeeping for first 3 days so you are likely to run out of coffee pods in your room, have full trash cans etc. Sure you can call for it but it is annoying. It is just ok with a price tag that should have more attention to guest comforts.

Eggs, bacon, cereal, juice the usual. Gym: Nice size, bunch of equipment, and amazingly nothing was broken!? Pool/Spa: whirlpool was down, and the swimming pool was a little small. Dinning Area: Large area, and plenty of seating. Prices: A little on the expensive side, really much more than expected and for a standard King room $121 a night is steep. Parking: Plenty of space, side and back private lots. Bathrooms: Bathrooms were clean and decent in size. Atmosphere: During the winter, pretty slow. I did not wait long at the desk, Christmas tree and menorah up in the lobby. Nice electric fireplace gave it elegance. Staff/Attendants: Staff was Great, Lady at the front counter was nice, and respectful. Nice experience! 8/10

Let me tell you why. Shortly into my arrival, the hotel DEMANDED that I fork over my credit card, with an open line of credit, for the hotel to charge as it saw fit for ïncidentals," which they declined to define. I refused. And then the manager - possibly the most wicked woman on the planet, began to furiously knock on my door, while I was sound asleep, demanding my card or she would call the police. I told her I would gladly depart with a refund. She refused to refund me the three unused nights I pre-paid, AND THEN CALLED THE POLICE. I had to rush to my room, the key to which she had deactivated- locking me out and my dog in- and rush to gather my life's belongings. And I accidentally knocked one of their shi@ty paintings off the wall because the space between the bed and the wall was barely a foot wide, and the frame broke. I was tossed out into the cold, and Expedia refused to refund me because they could not find my reservation number. SEVEN MONTHS LATER, I WAS CHARGED WITH AN E FELONY FOR "DAMAGING 3K OF ARTWORK," AND MY CREDIT CARD WAS CHARGED THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS. I WAS THROWN IN JAIL AND DRAGGED BEFORE A JUDGE IN SHACKLES. THIS IS HOW THE HAMPTON TREATS PEOPLE. AND THIS IS THE STORY THE GRAND JURY WILL HEAR. BOYCOTT THE HAMPTON. Oh, and if you do stay, use your phone to sweep for infrared cameras.I found plenty.

When we arrived we checked in and they sent us back to our room which was in the back of the building so they had us drive around to the other side and go in through the back door of the building. When we got into the building and got into our room we noticed we were on the ground floor and there were sliding glass doors that opened up to the outside and our car was right outside cuz we were on the bottom floor we were able to walk in and out of our room without having to go through the hotel room which made it a lot easier to load and unload our vehicle. The hotel room itself was very spacious and it was nice it wasn't huge but it was nice it was a nice size room for just the two of us the bathroom was also a good size as well and the Jet tub that was there was beautiful at least to me anyway and served it's purpose. The bed was very nice and was comfortable to sleep on and the chairs were also very comfortable as well. I gave this hotel a four-star rating because of the fact that the pool and hot tub area were out of order because they were working on them and they always still charge full price even though all the amenities are not working so you still pay even though you are not receiving the full services of the hotel. The breakfast area was very nice too it's its own little room with a bunch of food coffee and drinks and it's a nice little breakfast. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is in the area and would like a nice place to rest. I would also recommend that you try out the various restaurants in the area there was two that we went to and they were very delicious check out other reviews that I had done to see my thoughts about those places as well. The owners of this Best Western should be ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES!…read more We booked the room for Thurs. night. Graduations were going on so getting a room anywhere was difficult. The reviews and rating didn't seem too bad so we weren't expecting this many issues. As soon as we opened the door the smell hit us. Cigarettes, body odor, a dank moldy smell, and food. The carpet was filthy. The bathroom was filthy with urine and pubic hairs all over the floor. MY SHOES STUCK TO THE BATHROOM FLOOR. THE BED WAS MADE DIRTY. There were disgusting stains on the bedskirt and hairs on the pillows. Broken furniture, dusty lamps with wiring and cords poorly stretched and exposed. Filthy fridge and microwave. A sticky film on the television. Did not even touch the remote. Went downstairs to see if there was a different room available and had to wait while two separate guests chewed out the poor front desk guy for the same reasons we were needing a different room! I've worked in hotels for years. I know that you have to keep up with housekeeping hiring and FIRINGS! Hotels are not "at the mercy of their housekeeping staff" if they pay fair wages and hire good people. This room and the overall condition of the hotel is a direct result of HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT. Message to management: Get out of the hotel business because this is BEYOND FAILURE. When your front desk agent gives you a nearly empty can of room deodorizer there is a MAJOR PROBLEM. We took our chances and resigned to sleeping in our vehicle and informed the agent we could not stay in that room. Fortunately he helped us with a refund (which has yet to show up). If we do not see the refund in our account soon we will be pursuing further action because this room was hazardous to health and safety. We couldn't even stay five mins in that room and were lucky to get one elsewhere. The front desk agent was embarrassed and really maintained a professional demeanor while dealing with multiple complaints. This hotel would be lucky to keep him but something tells me he will find a better employer and better working conditions. Additional information: No elevator (not handicap friendly). New pool, old everything else. Parking lot damage (potholes). Key fobs on exterior entrances don't always work.
