There are so many spaces to it! You could definitely have a flow that works for whatever you're looking to do. The columns in the ballroom are a little off-putting, though, in that it can be hard for guests to see the dance floor and kind of puts you in your place as far as your relation to the couple. This was a winter wedding, but we were surprised that the wedding could have been anywhere in terms of awareness that we were on a lake. I would have thought some more lighting or an outdoor area (though I did see from pictures on here that there is a fire pit in area?). Staff were attentive, but definitely a little pushy at the end. I work catering and you don't pick up chairs or clear linens until everyone has (or most people have) left, but they were already starting to break down at 9:30 on the dot and it made us a little uncomfortable as we were trying to finish up conversations. Plenty of parking and it sounded like the bride and groom suites were well-appointed. At only 25 minutes from downtown Albany, your guests have plenty of options for where to stay!

I can imagine how hard it is to pull off perfect food for 300+ attendees. I took note of the direction of the manager to the service staff, he knew what he was doing. Views and vistas of the river and the manicured grounds were memorable, made doubly so during the splendid explosion of autumn foliage colors! Solid 5 stars. Even the water infiltration into our bathroom caused by a roof leak due to the two days of nonstop rain couldn't detract from the overall experience. We simply asked the front desk for extra towels and partied on (whilst the plumbers were called). The mansion is a 12,500 square foot Italian Villa built back in 1907. Some of the features include a beautiful back lawn and semi-covered patio, a big room that hosted the wedding ceremony, and later on the DJ station and dance floor, and a very large and elegant dining room for our plated dinner. After the wedding reception. A cocktail hour was held outdoors on the patio. There was a full bar on the left side, and trays of hot and cold appetizers on the right side. I especially enjoyed the meatballs, bruschetta, and stuffed mushrooms. The outdoor component of the wedding was quite lovely -lots of scenic greenery, some opulent classically themed statues, seating on the patio, and an outdoor bar. Dinner was served in the big dining room for about 150 guests. We started off with big fluffy rolls and a nice strawberry, tomato, and goat cheese salad. Next up was the pasta course of mushroom ravioli and ziti with tomato sauce. The meal was three entrees (chicken, beef, and eggplant rollatini) and roast vegetables. The chicken was great -very moist and tender, and the eggplant was simply delicious. We really enjoyed our experience here, and the only quibble we had involved the huge portable vents that ran from the outdoor AC equipment into the room where the ceremony was held. They blew a tsunami of arctic air into the back of the room that was so cold, people literally relocated their chairs away from the frigid blast.

Ice water, coffee and Tea and apple juice all included with other optional drinks available at a small additional charge. Most were $1 or 2. The Food and atmosphere were both excellent. The Dining room, buffet area, and the coffee and drink sections were very clean and tidy throughout our visit. I didn't take enough pictures but there was 3 lines of tables of different salads, sides, noodles, hard boiled eggs, hot items, fried items, desserts, etc. We sat on the deck, overlooking the grounds and the breeze was nice and weather was perfect. After we took our time eating, we walked the grounds. Great meal and activity. I'll definitely return.

Dress is very relaxes, with some people coming from work for lunch in suits and others in torn up jeans and t-shirts. Getting here was odd. It is off of a hallway off of the concourse, and though there is a sign it isn't obvious and I was glad I came with friends who knew the way. Upon entering the elevator, there were two options: restaurant (floor 2) and bathrooms (floor 1). Yup, they are on separate floors. The elevator dumps you in the very middle of the restaurant which I considered awkward. Leaving to use the restroom involves waiting in the middle again for the elevator, and then returning via the same manner. The buffets were wooden boards that were set up on saw horses in the middle of the room with power cords to the heaters and heat lamps. It seemed a bit amateurish but I suppose since they only do the buffet once a week they have to keep it easy to set up and break down. Every Thursday they do an Italian buffet lunch (and I don't think they do any other regular meal service) which apparently has various items that rotate. Today it was: Appetizers: Caesar Salad; Chopped Garden Salad; Grilled Vegetable Salad; Frittata with Four Cheeses; Eggplant & Tomato Compote; Crusty Bread Main dishes: Penne Primavera with Oil and Garlic; Rigatoni Bolognese; Chicken Parmesan; Porchetta; Grilled Vegetable Medley Desserts: Assorted Italian Desserts & Pastries (They had about 6 different dessert options.) The food on average decent. It is all served buffet style so dishes may get dried, sauces will congeal, and vegetables will weep water. I thought the chicken parm. was decent, I enjoyed the rigatoni Bolognese, and considered the frittata a standout dish. I took what I thought was a cream puff for dessert but it was filled with chocolate chip cannoli filling instead (I think). The staff were pleasant and frequently refilled the buffet. However, they kept taking our plates but wanted us to keep our dirty silverware which we had to put on the table cloth. By the end of the meal service, that cloth must look pretty bad. Prices were fair, I think $13 a person. However, it just felt really awkward at times. It felt like a restaurant was being crammed into a space that didn't really work (and at one time this was a really nice restaurant so I have been told). While it has the luxury of boasting the only buffet at the Plaza, I don't think I would come back unless there was another special Office function.

The show itself was a lot of fun, there was plenty of room for the crowd of about 75-100 to relax, dance, sit and watch etc. The sound was really good, and the lights rivaled much fancier venues I've been to. As others have said, the drinks are a bit on the pricey side, but when you compare it to going to a show at say, SPAC these days it was actually a few bucks cheaper per-drink. We started the night at The Eleven, the bar attached to the venue which was also very nice. My girlfriend had one of their signature cocktails, the coffee based one (can't remember the name) and I tasted it and thought it was great. I was a bit disappointed by their whiskey selection, but they had the basics which worked fine. Overall, we had an amazing time and I will definitely be going back to check out more live music here.
