I have on numerous occasions reserved by calling a tee time for myself and showed up and he has had a problem. Apparently, he has a problem with single golfers! He only wants foursomes and when the others in the time slot cancel, he doesn't want to honor the time slot. I have in the past worked with them and changed the time slot. Today I had reserved for 2 and while paying had an attitude thinking I was golfing as a single. Five minutes before the tee time he is pressuring me that the other twosome was going to tee off without us if we don't move along. P.S Yes, my buddy was two minutes late but the tee's were backed up and we were waiting for the fairway to clear. I have been to a lot of courses but never have I dealt with someone so rude and obnoxious like this before! I like the course but will never play there again even as a foursome as long as he works there!

Perhaps the nicest course and best conditions in the Capital Region and the perfect club for those…read morewho want to play golf instead of impressing other people.  When I joined I was very surprised how open all the members were to meeting me and playing with me.  No cliques or dirty looks.  The membership is a better value than other private clubs in the area, has no assessments, and is built on sand so it opens earlier in the year and is playable right after torrential rain.  The course is a favorite of women golfers.  Lots of events of course and leagues.  Great pace of play. The coolest thing is that it is the custom here to walk with a  pushcart, so I get lots of exercise.

There are others just like me: practical shoes, really really nice (yes, it's true, even if I cut you off in traffic), and we actually give a shit about most things. For instance, I care about food, like, obsessively thinking about it. So though the speeches were great, and the decor grand, my luncheon with the other librarians yesterday had me mostly focused on the sit down meal that I expected, like most of these shindigs, would be small, tasteless, lukewarm, wilted and overcooked. Like wouldn't it be nice if I looked forward to a GREAT meal instead of thinking the worst, for a change, hmmmmmm??? OK I was wrong, but read on. The starter salads were romaine free because of the recent e coli outbreak. Kudos. Nice creamy balsamic dressing, colorful, fresh. The rolls were sourdoughy, warm and fragrant. Red had a chicken dish rolled around a bread stuffing covered in a rich gravy topped with dried random cranberries, good mashed, perfectly cooked green beans. Apple had the steak, topped with a burgundy sauce, same mashed and beans. The meat was a bit dry but he ate everything. I had the parm, of course. Anyway, it was eggplant, thinly sliced, pressed into a lasagna almost, topped with a beautiful thick layer of flavorful, gooey cheese, a bit crisp on the edges, and a rich red sauce that was better than just about any I've ever had. The rigatoni on the side was boring, as was the presentation, but this parm was perfectly assembled. Wow. OK this is a review of a special event, but let me tell you, the parking is ample, the grounds are spectacular, the space is lavish and beautiful, the staff were courteous and kind and professional (x5). Maybe more help would cut down the wait time for the entire crowd. While friends thought the food was good, I was not impressed. My roast beef appeared to be sliced lunch meat with jar gravy on top. The green beans at least appeared to have been freshly steamed (cool when they arrived). Our dessert was cheesecake. (Friends said I make a better dessert.) That being said, to be sociable, I am sure I will return if it is again scheduled for this club.

It reminds one of the Mashomack hunt club - if it were transported 100 miles north, plunked into suburbia, and catered to well-off golfing corporate types instead of wingshooting hedge fund billionaires and old money. The building itself is old and gracious, the staff thoughtful and understated, the vibe fairly 1%. Food surprisingly good, decent wine, lovely cake, and a pretty vista. Are those rooms one might sleep in up there on the second deck? How awesome if so -- you could tie one on at the reception, insult the bride's mum, take a punch from her pa, drop trou on stage with the best man and moon the dancing crowd, have a whiz off the patio by the flickering light of a gas fire, pass out face-down in the lap of a panicked flower girl, and be heaved unconscious into a guest bed upstairs by the club manager and the groom's cousin who played high school football. (I did none of those things, more's the pity. But I did get my bottom pinched by the superannuated and superinebriated wife of the family lawyer while in line for coffee - which family, still not sure. Thrill of the evening for boring old me.) Four stars for a very memorable, high-class, good-natured fun time; not five because - well, because it's not Mashomack.

Absolutely stunning venue for a shower or a wedding. I loved the building, a lot of parking, the banquet rooms, nice bar, gorgeous back patio and outside bar, nice lighting, great windows to view the well maintained course. Even the bathrooms were very nice! The Shower was a brunch style with good mimosas and decent food. It was all breakfast food, which may have been a cheaper option, who knows. It did have super good potatoes. The service seems very good with a decent number of servers assigned to the event. The place is a little far out of the way for me, but if you were looking in the area for an event venue, this is a pretty nice spot!

The tee boxes are nothing but dirt. The 3rd hole is a temporary green. Then there is an irrigation project that has 4'x4'X6' (deep) holes in the fairways. A friend lost his ball on the 18th hole because on the of the holes was just before the green and it rolled in. My friends were walked and paid $45. I doubt this course will be great to play on for the rest of the season and most likely next season. The tee boxes all need to be resodded. I don't recommend playing this course until conditions improved and/or they lower the rate a lot. Food venue was great.

So the starter said looks like the other two are not coming....So we go up to get ready and tee off and right at 12:21 he goes. "There's your other two-some" I told him I am not waiting I scheduled for 12:22 and I was a half hour early because golf etiquette you don't run up to the tee box AT the time. Anyways. 12:22 comes and the 2 kids still are not coming out of the clubhouse. The starter said "they are just paying" i said well, We are teeing off. He said "no hold please". I said. "What time is our tee time?" He said "12:22" It was 12:23 at this time still no one around.... So finally i said "Mike hit away" and he got all mad and said "I tell you when you can go" And then he said "someone is on the shit list" For what being there early??? I wanted to beat the rain and had dinner plans. It's not my fault you guys want to squeeze every possible person out there.... Come to find out. The kids only had one bag. We will never return as much as I love the course. (Since I'm on the shit list) No one ever treats me like that or punishes me for being on time....
