Dessert was brought from outside the club, although I'm sure they had dessert options on the menu. The ambiance was nice, and the dining room has huge windows and a nice patio overlooking the beautiful grounds. Nice view in the distance of downtown Albany, also. The decor is slightly dated, but in a classic sort of way, if that makes sense. High ceilings, dark wood, gold light fixtures and a green leafy carpet. The meal included chicken parm, eggplant parm, stuffed sole, ziti, rice pilaf, green beans almondine and fairly extensive salad fixings. I never have high expectations for a buffet, but I was pleasantly surprised. I tried everything and it was all very tasty and fresh. Nothing tasted like it had been sitting, and things were quickly replenished when they got low. I appreciated that the portions were cut tiny so I could fill my plate with a little of everything and not look like a total pig. It's probably their attempt to cut back on waste. The staff was okay overall; some friendlier than others. I wouldn't go so far as to say that any of them were bad, but I think some of their faces may have cracked if they smiled. There was no offer for a second round of coffee, which was served in teeny tiny cups, so it should have been no surprise that people wanted more. We asked, and cups were filled for only a few people at the table before the staff promptly vanished without offering it to others who wanted it as well. The thing that lost them a fourth star was the staff's eagerness to get us out of there. I know the party was scheduled from 6-10pm, and I do understand their desire to get off work. I'm very conscious of that sort of thing, because I've worked in restaurants and retail, and it's common knowledge that nobody likes a straggler. But did they really have to start breaking down tables at 10:05? Nobody wants to see the crappy cracked and peeling card tables you hide under your nice white table clothes. C'mon now. All in all, the party was a very nice experience and the flaws were minimal. I would recommend it.

The moment we walked through the doors that December, surrounded by garlands, lights, and Christmas trees, it was like the universe said, "This is the one." We knew instantly this was where our story needed to be told. We were blessed to work with Barbara, Kelly, and Anna--three of the kindest, most dedicated people we've met. They listened, guided, reassured, and brought our vision to life in ways we couldn't have imagined. They cared about our wedding as if it were their own. During our tasting, we tried their vegetable lasagna with a white sauce for the first time, and it left us speechless. It was warm, comforting, and full of flavor--just like everything else they offered us. Every choice we made with them felt right. Because our wedding fell between Thanksgiving and Christmas, the timing was perfect. The venue became a breathtaking holiday wonderland. The stage was framed by Christmas trees glowing softly behind us. The garland around the mirrors sparkled with warm lights and festive bows. The bar area transformed with tall, beautifully decorated trees. One staff member even hand-designed ribbon and ornament themes for all the trees in the entire building--details we will never forget. A staff member noticed instantly and called Kathy, who arrived like a guardian angel and fixed the dress with skill and grace. She didn't just save the dress--she saved the moment. While that was happening, more staff brought us plates of food to make sure we ate, knowing how easily couples forget to do that. They cared for us in a way that felt genuine and deeply heartfelt. When our guests first walked into the ballroom, the reactions said it all. Gasps, smiles, whispers of "wow." I was aware that there were times when the members of the PCC would make and sell Polish food to the general public, but I never took advantage of the opportunity. With so many restaurants closed or only selling takeout during the COVID-19 restriction period, I decided to take advantage of the PCC's announcement of what I now understand is a monthly event selling a variety of Polish food for takeout. How it works. They announce on their web page the date of the event and ask you to call a day or two ahead to place your order. During the pandemic you can choose between curb-side pickup or indoor pickup. You must wear a mask to be allowed inside. This event is so popular that you are likely to have to wait for your order even though you will have an assigned pickup time. The food for my 4:30 pickup time was not ready until 5:00. A friend with a 5:15 pickup time did not receive her food until 6:15. The menu includes pierogi, golumpki, kielbasa, and sauerkraut. The Polish Platter ($14) has a good portion of everything and comes with some rye bread. Only one filling is available for the pierogi and that is potato and cheese. I will say that even though the organizational effort could benefit from some improvement, if you're a patient person you'll survive the wait and likely believe, like me, that the food was worth the wait.

Both events were fabulous, and much credit goes to Brian and Danielle, the proprietors of this beautiful place built by a former governor in the style of an Italian villa. The venue can host over 150 guests, and offers beautiful grounds in addition to its elegant interior architecture. The reasonable rental rate covers Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Brian and Danielle are super flexible and helpful, and they worked closely and happily with our chosen caterer (Turf Tavern of Scotia). We can't praise them or their venue highly enough!

The staff was outstanding. The feedback I got was overwhelmingly positive and that's pretty rare when 117 people have to agree on something. We've already discussed booking it for next year.

It reminds one of the Mashomack hunt club - if it were transported 100 miles north, plunked into suburbia, and catered to well-off golfing corporate types instead of wingshooting hedge fund billionaires and old money. The building itself is old and gracious, the staff thoughtful and understated, the vibe fairly 1%. Food surprisingly good, decent wine, lovely cake, and a pretty vista. Are those rooms one might sleep in up there on the second deck? How awesome if so -- you could tie one on at the reception, insult the bride's mum, take a punch from her pa, drop trou on stage with the best man and moon the dancing crowd, have a whiz off the patio by the flickering light of a gas fire, pass out face-down in the lap of a panicked flower girl, and be heaved unconscious into a guest bed upstairs by the club manager and the groom's cousin who played high school football. (I did none of those things, more's the pity. But I did get my bottom pinched by the superannuated and superinebriated wife of the family lawyer while in line for coffee - which family, still not sure. Thrill of the evening for boring old me.) Four stars for a very memorable, high-class, good-natured fun time; not five because - well, because it's not Mashomack.
