I recently stayed a few nights at The Morgan State House Inn and had a mostly pleasant stay…read more I thought I was staying in their main house, but they actually had my room a couple doors down in some studios that are apparently also part of the inn. Not a big deal, but I don't know that this is something you'll really know until check-in. The building a few doors down where I stayed also appeared to be historic though a bit less grand on the main level than the main house. The lobby of the building was festively decorated for the holiday. With the bright windows, a sofa, Christmas music playing, and a tree twinkling, one afternoon I couldn't resist getting a little work done in the lobby. My room was cozy with a small kitchenette, bed, arm chairs, and desk. The arm chairs are cute but not very comfortable. The desk was perfectly positioned overlooking the windows, which made for a great spot to work. The bed was pretty uncomfortable and probably needs to be replaced (it was sinking on both sides with a high spot in the middle). For my solo traveling girlies: +The inn is not staffed all night +Doors have old fashioned keys, deadbolts, and chains +The surrounding neighborhood seems nice and safe enough +Parking is slightly off site and requires walking around the block or through the back of the property. If you don't need to bring a car, I'd opt for uber +I think there may be some permanent residents in the additional property (a couple doors down from the main house) All and all, it's a beautiful, historic property, which is one of my favorite sorts to stay in. I wouldn't likely stay there again solo, but would absolutely stay with my partner!

I feel bad giving this place a less than perfect score as the staff were nice and helpful, but it…read morefell short in some important areas. The main one being that I was unable to enjoy the tub as much as I would have liked. The first night the jets didn't work, and someone was nice enough to come by the next day and fix it. Later that night I was looking forward to finally using the tub as intended (and even cancelled a spa day for it) but the other guests had already used all of the hot water by then. I left without getting much of any enjoyment from the tub, which is the main reason I booked the room in the first place. The other issue was the parking situation, which, to be fair, I should have anticipated before booking, considering its location. The parking spot doesn't come with the room, so you must pay extra to access it, and finding it in the dark after dinner is not easy when you have to follow a paper map and there is a line of cars behind you. Walking back to the inn alone in the dark was also pretty unsettling. Overall, this experience was the opposite of relaxing. I will say that the property is very pretty, though, and seemed to be clean.

We had a small gathering and stayed in 8 rooms at the Inn at Manchester for several days. The IAM is a family owned, operated and has a warm and welcoming vibe. It is ideally located, has 3 guest houses with 21 guest rooms and soft grass grounds with birch trees, VT marble chairs and Adirondack chairs. It is far enough from the downtown yet an easy walking distance to the town and many restaurants, fly fishing, golf and hiking trails. The rooms we had were tastefully decorated and large about ~500 sqft. and the largest suite was ~700 sqft. Beds were comfortable and some had separate sitting rooms with a desk. Some of us worked a couple of days and their Wi-Fi was decent. Included breakfasts offered several choices which differed daily. Solid farm cooking that we enjoyed were French toast, homemade granola, yogurt, fresh fruits, cottage cakes, buttermilk pancakes and eggs made to order, bacon and breakfast sausages. They accommodated our dietary needs too. The Morning coffee (VT Mtn) and tea station is set up early in the morning and throughout the breakfast hours. We also had an event on their covered Celebration Barn patio with a fire pit. The innkeepers provided a name of a local caterer which worked out well. The event setup person was on schedule and he even stayed later to re-setup after an untimely rain. The caterer did an exceptional job and everyone loved the food! The fire pit was great to hang out at to enjoy the NE evenings. Price is reasonable given their location, service level and the quality of the Inn. The service at the Inn at Manchester is fabulous! The Innkeeper, Gabriela and GM, Todd were exceptional, warm and super helpful! They know the area well and though I've visited Manchester many times prior, Gabriela's hiking trail recommendation was spot on. Parking is a private lot and is free. While this inn is bigger than the many family run lodgings, the intimate small NE vibe is apparent! We chose IAM over better known nearby hotels as this inn isn't stodgy. We very much enjoyed our stay at the Inn at Manchester due to the wonderfully kind Gabriel and Todd!

I arrived later in the evening and was greeted by the most friendly and professional team. After checking in they provided a full tour of the Inn and left me to enjoy this amazing place. The breakfast was a delightful start to my day, with the eggs, sausage, and buttermilk pancakes being absolutely scrumptious. The rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee further enhanced the experience, setting the perfect tone for our day of relaxation and exploration. The historical estate exuded old-world charm, complete with wood-burning fireplaces that added warmth and character to the atmosphere. The comforting scent of applewood burning made our stay even more enjoyable, and the Cinnamon suite provided a cozy and inviting space for us to unwind. As I woke up to a light snowfall, the morning revealed the true essence of country life, capturing a serene and picturesque scene that truly added to the charm of our stay. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a peaceful and unforgettable getaway. I truly hope this review captures the essence of your wonderful time at The Inn at Manchester. The chef at the Mill Pond Inn isn't just cooking -- he's performing delicious miracles every day that they're open. My boyfriend and I literally plan our trips upstate around dinner here. Forget the scenic views or rustic charm -- we come for the bread, stay for the entrées, and weep with joy over dessert (literally took 3 desserts home last night and went back tonight). Honestly, I'm shocked there's a rating below 5 stars. Who hurt you, people? Did the mashed potatoes remind you of a lost love? Because otherwise, this place is perfection. I wish I could post a photo, but the food disappears faster than my willpower to not over order when I'm here. Pro tip: bring stretchy pants and a good appetite. You'll need both.

We enjoyed the old movie and music theme in this updated prior rectory. After spending the last several years of travel in hotels and Airbnb's, we have come to remember how personal and inviting B&Bs are. This particular one, however, is one of the best. The BB is two blocks from Warren Street for quick access to restaurants and shops. There is also a retail shop on Warren Street where you can spot many of the unique items from the house. The shop is very well curated. We stayed in Room 5 which has a private deck off the room that my husband used every morning and evening. It's the room with the beautifully updated blue bathroom. The only thing missing from the room and the bathroom was brighter light - our eyes no longer perform as well in dim lighting! We spent most of the mornings and afternoons on several hikes throughout the area - all of them peaceful and beautiful. The waterfalls at the end were stunning.

He was instrumental in founding a retirement place for race horses. The place is called Old Friends. It is for older horses who have completed their racing and breeding years.
