This is a great little gem outside Windham, we stopped by to grab a quick bite and catch the World Cup game this Saturday. Our 2nd time here, last time they had a group of musicians playing Irish music and really loved the vibe so kept this place in mind. Super nice bartender and food is good, the decor is a bit antiquated so don't expect 5-star, but I think it adds to the charm - highly recommend if you're in the area, like good food and good people! read more

Really enjoyed this restaurant! Food was excellent. Had the Shepard's pie, mushroom burger and the rodeo burger. Shepard's pie was the best. Spring rolls good as well. Atmosphere was lacking but don't let that distract you from eating here. It's worth it. read more

This place hasn't been updated since 1961. Wow. Old rooms, old amenities, rickety steps, dusty, old furnishings. TV didn't work, bathroom fan didn't work. Leaves not raked, mold on the bathroom ceiling, gnats in clouds in the rooms and restaurant part. Mold on the building exteriors, paint chipping off everywhere. The dinner was slathered in thick gravies, mashed potatoes tasted like it came from a box. Breakfast was decent but that's a hard one to screw up. It was our first and LAST time staying at the Shamrock House. Staff were friendly though. Next time we'll stay at Gavin's down the road. We were told that owner updates that place every year. read more

Great food and great service, rooms are on Budget. We stayed in the large motel rooms and they were perfect

I stopped by here for breakfast one Saturday morning and was disappointed in lack of my personal preference. They had a buffet-style breakfast for ~$10 and the selection was limited: Toaster with some white bread by it (and probably some condiments that I didn't take note of) Some yogurts (which contained aspartame) Cereal Bars (which had high fructose corn syrup) Scrambled Eggs Potatoes (maybe that's home fries) French Toast Bacon and some Meat patty Pot of (I believe) oatmeal Considering I'm not an egg person or try to avoid certain ingredients in my food, I only had some french toast, which was mediocre, with a side of bacon, which was surprisingly better than most places, and some coffee with honey. What would have made this place better was some fresh fruits or non-HFCS peanut butter or some turkey cold cuts (over bacon) with my french toast. I do believe they did have some apples there as well. read more

This is the best place. My family and I come up to dirt bike. We have stayed at the shamrock twice, and we loved it. The food is excellent, the drinks are great! The Irish music is amazing! I've been coming here since I was a tiny tot, so I can't speak to the rooms, since I'm a local. I can say that the bar is usually pretty packed, the food is tasty and large portions, and that I wish they would update the restrooms! I can really only speak to the ladies room here, but that's my number one thought EVERY time I'm here. It changed ownership relatively recently, and I think they're doing a great job keeping this East Durham staple relevant. read more

I found the place to be a good value for the price . This place is not a 4 star hotel but I found no major problems. The owner ,staff and even the other guests were friendly . Nice pool and the food was much better than I expected especially the breakfast buffet. read more

This town is a haven of everything Irish! John, the owner, is so nice and so accommodating. My husband and I are staying here for the first time and feel we made the best choice here in East Durham (having stayed at Gavin's the last time). This is a homey but rustic experience. If you need chain hotel amenities don't stay. But if you want to step back in time with some really nice people in a bucolic setting, book a visit! read more

A while back we had our wedding here and not a single thing went wrong due to the amazing owners and their staff. Since then we cant begin to tell you how the owners lar and emma have given to the community and made so many parties and anniversaries special for folks. They bend over backwards for the customers no matter who you are. Trust me have an event there, have a party or just go in for a pint and you will have a great experience all around. read more

first off i paid 322 dollars for 2 rooms with twin size beds i was coming in for a motorcycle rally and was told the rooms were clean and although not big would accommodate 2 adults so I know that for any event people jack up the price for rooms to take advantage of the events and people needing a place to stay then we get there and the rooms are not only very dirty and disgusting where the previous tenants key was still in the room the bathroom was nasty as all hell i have seen cleaner homeless shelters as for the food i would not even eat there i believe if the rooms are that nasty the kitchen cant be much cleaner i would not recommend this place for anything other than real estate property read more
