Mt. San Jacinto from The Getaway.

Love love love "The Getaway"! It is exactly that. A perfect getaway from the insanity of the big city. Quiet and serene. And, if you are a writer like me, it's a great place to work undistracted and focused. The views of San Jacinto and Palm Springs are gorgeous. Love the 60's ambience and decor. And the AC!

We stayed for a weekend here at the getaway. The apartments are perfect. The decor is extremely well done with beautiful details. The apartment and common areas were spotless. Eric was staying there the same time we were and was very friendly. He gave us some great recommendations for local events and restaurants. The Getaway is a 20 min drive from Palm Springs (art museum, antiques) and about 40 min from Joshua Tree National Park where we spent one of the days. The other day, we laid by the pool and cooked meals in the sweet and well equipped kitchen. No doubt we'll be back many times. We even asked about renting out the whole place for our wedding!

Very cozy, chill and not too expensive place for a small little trip! Won't be a bad idea to come here.

And the third one is enclosed with a medium temperature. As you walk further through the garden and down some stone steps, you will reach a small spa that has various rooms for treatments. There is also a dry sauna, showers, and an infrared sauna on the outside. This one was my favorite because the glass doors face the garden. It was very Zen. The massage therapist were very good. Thank you to Landon and Andrew for that. I really appreciated the intimacy of the Resort and all of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Mel was especially helpful and kind. I left the Resort feeling very relaxed and at peace. I will definitely return.

My friend and I were beyond happy with the beautiful and quiet setting. We enjoyed a superbly private stay, as it's off season. Most people come to stay when the weather is cooler. There are three mineral water pools, one in an open sided, Beautifully constructed, covered patio. One wall was river rock. Another wall was tiled seating that was cool and comfortable to sit on. I thoroughly enjoyed the sauna the morning we left, before breakfast. Sweating for 30" is relaxing if you haven't tried it yet. Breakfast options included Avocado, tomato, hard boiled eggs, bagels, croissants, fresh cooked waffles, cold, cereal, yogurt, half-and-half, cream cheese, coffee, tea, and I'm sure more I did not note. We breakfasted I'm a lovely little patio, surrounded by birds and plants. A neighbor cat visited but did not engage. There are daybeds along the pool and a few under the trees in the patio in between the row of rooms. I believe there were a total of 14 rooms. Each room has cool tiled floors and a a fresh king bed. Ours had a lovely bathtub with the hottest shower I think I've ever had. There are imported Italian soap, shampoo, and conditioner (that left my hair looking very pretty). There were two wonderful robes in the boudoir. I wore mine too and fro as I am born to spa and was in seventh heaven. Our room opened up onto a large patio balcony from which we watched the sunrise and the sunset over the valley in front of us. The amenities are open 24 hours. The owner, Mrs C is hospitable and engaging. She has Italian soaps and such for you to purchase, as well as soda pop and wine. Time and money went into planning this spa. The property is absolutely beautiful and well cared for. A big plus is that the jacuzzis and pool are open 24 hours. They have a semi-indoor hot spring jacuzzi that is very large and has a really nice ambiance (especially at night) with the lanterns on the wall. They also have another hot spring jacuzzi outdoors by the pool and it is amazing to soak in this jacuzzi and watch the sun set over the mountains across the valley - Truly a million dollar view! Their pool is luke-warm and so nice to take a dip after soaking in the jacuzzis. And if you plan on spending the day on their pool deck they have lots of nice cushioned pool lounge chairs and 5 outdoor beds. There are also tables you can sit at and have a meal or play games, etc. Our room was very comfortable and luxurious. I love the dark wood, heavy curtains and Italian tile! The bed was very comfortable and we slept great. Tip: they have a couple of rooms that have private outdoor patios overlooking the valley and mountains but they don't offer these rooms on Priceline, Expedia or other travel service. Camellia said they only book these rooms directly from the hotel website or by calling. They also have a nice area for massages & treatments. We didn't get any treatments but I believe they have independent massage therapists come in when you book treatment. But it is a really nice spa / treatment area that rivals some of the best spas I've been to.

Every room is very different. From a disco ball in one room, a 4 poster bed with draped linen in another, to the lobby with a couple of refrigerators, an oven, plenty of dishes, cups and silverware, a TV, bathroom, books and a couple of couches, it is very comfortable. There is the pool in the middle of the spa that goes to 7' deep. Unfortunately, the minerals in the water that we go to resorts like this for, eats the plaster in pools. It is not smooth, it is very pitted and textured. But the water more than makes up for it. Someone brought a pop up that we could put in the water for shade, what a game changer. There is a good size jacuzzi that is hot... hot hot hot. I could get to my knees, other folks could sit in there for a good 30 minutes or longer. Then there is the koi pond. The second time we stayed in a standard room which came with a mini-fridge and hot water kettle. An additional perk that make the Desert Hot Springs Inn special is the garden area outback with a gas grill, gas fire pit, and fenced dog run area as well as fabulous views of the mountains. There is also the mineral water spa and pool! I am also amazed at how responsive the management is to requests given everything is handled remotely. (You get a text message with the access code to the main gate and your room.) Last time we stayed I forgot my Kindle in the room. They found it and shipped it back to me right away. Finally, and perhaps best of all for pet owners, they do not charge a dog fee which is a huge plus for pet owners!

This is at the top of my list of all-time worst places I've EVER stayed - NOT KIDDING!!…read more This place is minimalistic (in the extreme - not a good way), which describes to a T how much care and effort they put into the cleaning and upkeep of this place. It also perfectly describes how much they care about the people who stay here!! I'll write more about our overall experience but I want to mention the bomb that cratered our already mediocre (at best) experience... This was a terrible experience! First of all, we spent $180 to stay here and it was very disappointing! There are multiple reasons but the biggest is that at 7:00pm when we turned down the bed we found mascara on the pillow cases and PUBIC HAIR in the sheets and there is basically no human contact here. We called the "emergency" phone number and it was a message saying to state your name and reason for calling and no one picked up or called back (ever) - very frustrating!! We eventually got a text saying that the facility is unstaffed and gave us the code to the laundry room to get clean sheets - and it didn't work. We let them know it didn't work and they said they have multiple properties and gave us another number that didn't work. They eventually said an inn keeper would come and an hour later we got a text that the inn keeper had unlocked the laundry room. (didn't even stop by to offer an apology or bring us our clean sheets but instead made us rummage through the laundry room to find clean sheets & pillowcases) Again, no human contact - we had to find clean sheets AND REPLACE THEM OURSELVES! - WTF!!? We asked if there was another room we could be moved to and were basically told tough luck, they were fully booked. This was such a sh!tshow - to the level that any remotely compassionate & caring hotel would have fully refunded our money and given a very sincere, in-person apology from someone (or at the very least refunded some of it) - BUT NOT THIS PLACE!! Not even so much as an apology or "sorry that happened"...NOTHING!! After that debacle Our Room - It was very minimalistic. Concrete floors, no rugs, no pictures or anything else on the walls and minimal decoration except one plant and 2 chairs that were not the most comfortable. There are no dressers, no drawers and no counter space to put your things on. There's just one small closet. They don't even have cups for water - only coffee cups. The lighting in the room is either on or off - there is no dimmable lighting. It's either hospital bright or pitch dark. (The lamps must have had 100 watt bulbs) There are very limited electrical plugs available. We had to plug in the coffee water kettle in the bathroom because as you can see, the only available plug was on the backside of the extension cord going up to the TV and the kettle cord wouldn't stretch that far. The Bathroom - Our shower had a curtain rod that caused the curtain to keep sliding open and it caused a large puddle of water to accumulate on the floor which came out into the room since the floors are cement (and are very slick when wet) With the toilet, I have had better legroom in the economy section of an airplane than the legroom from this toilet to the wall (about an inch more than 2 iPhones length - NOT KIDDING!) I mean seriously!! Look at the pics. It's ridiculously tight! And the shower head is very short - came to my forehead so I had to squat when washing my hair. Oh, and the ceilings are very thin - we heard every step from the people above (Glad they didn't stay up late!) On the upside: At least the wifi is good enough to stream Netflix. The coffee is actually really good but the only creamer they had was packets of powder coffee mate. They didn't have (or offer) liquid creamer of any kind, not even in the refrigerator in the common area. I felt like I was drinking coffee in a church basement. Pool / Jacuzzi area: The pool / jacuzzi area is pretty small and confined with lackluster furniture. Paint was peeling off the walls and there was green algae growing around the lip of the jacuzzi. There also seems to be a shortage of pool towels. This is very disappointing when the whole reason for coming to Desert Hot Springs is for the hot spring jacuzzis & pools! Overall this was an extremely, not only disappointing but outright infuriating experience! If the whole, pubic hair / mascara in the sheets debacle hadn't happen I would give this place 3 stars, but that situation was just unacceptable!! And those 3 stars are if you don't need anything, but the second you need anything from an actual human, you're on your own! I wouldn't even expect this crap quality of service (or downright mistreatment) from a $40 a night motel in the middle of Timbucktoo, much less in a resort hotspot like Desert Hot Springs. WE WILL NOT BE COMING BACK to this hotel!! I'm sorry we stayed here - If you choose to stay here, don't say you haven't been warned!!
