Great Food, good prices, But always slower than molasses whether it's crowded or not.

This place is great! Friendly folks, very relaxed atmosphere, an obvious hot spot in the town (was crowded for lunch...all locals except me and my son) and delicious! We asked the waitress for her recommendations and she did not disappoint! We ended up splitting the corn nuggets (heavenly...get the honey mustard with them too) and we both had burgers! Everything was great! I got fries and my son got fried okra for our sides and they were both good and NOT too greasy! They had so many things on the menu, but that's all we could do! The food comes out a little slow but it is nice and hot. The service is very friendly and knowledgeable about menu items. We really enjoy the atmosphere with the small town vibe. we had high hopes for this cafe after hearing about their malted shakes. unfortunately this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. the restaurant was empty and we waited over 1.5 hours for shakes and fries. watched multiple tables come after us, order, eat and leave while we were still waiting. told t repeatedly our order was on the way. Enjoyed three meals over 6 days while visiting the area. Service was slow at breakfast but good at the two early dinners. Cost was low and the food good. They have a simple menu with a meat and three special each day. Being the only place to eat in Baker, they are a good choice rather then driving farther. Food was excellent! My son had the fried fish. Fish (fried) was a little bland. I had the country fried steak and white gravy. Amazing. My husband had a burger. The place seems popular. I little outdated but cute. Could use some updates like new fans and maybe no carpet. The carpet makes it feel dirty inside. Also, the ac was dripping water on our table. The teriyaki steak was absolutely delicious. The fries were so flaky and soft at the same time wich was sensational. The sweet tea was very satisfying. If you are to go save some of your fries for the milkshakes. The vanilla milkshake I got was absolutely amazing I dipped a fry into it and I was hooked. Missed the mark this time. I have eaten here many times for lunch and always loved it. This time was dinner. I had one of their dinner specials, Fried Oysters. Should have tried a different dinner special. The oysters were fried wonderfully but the oyster were not fresh. Not really spoiled, but didn't taste as good as I had hoped. Spent a lot of time in the bath room when I got home. Sad! read more

Apparently new cook who made 1 meal at a time...literally. Took an hour and some change for 2 hamburgers and french fries and the place was not packed as I have seen it before. I truly hope the service gets better since this is the only place to stop in and eat around the area. Our waitress was great thankfully. read more

We had lunch and fought to keep flies off our food the entire time. The water was not filtered and tasted terrible. Food was bland.

Not a great experience. Driving though town on our way to the beach. This was one of a handful of restaurants in the area and had good reviews so we stopped. I had the club sandwich. It was fine, but nothing special. It looked and tasted like store-bought bread and deli meat. Nothing more than. Could make at home. My wife got the grilled Mahi. Being 45 minutes from the gulf is no guarantee that seafood is good. It was poorly season and over cooked to the texture of dry chicken. My toddler got the chicken fries. Those were pretty good, actually. I'd stick with fried food here. read more

We stopped her while passing through on our way to Destin. After and hour and 15 min wait, and people who came in after us the food served was not acceptable. They kindly refunded our meal and the coffee was good but that was it. Disappointed that it took so long and we still needed to find somewhere else to eat. read more

We stopped in here after a visit to the zoo for our daughter's birthday. The food was great! My husband ordered a cheeseburger and it was juicy and delicious. I had a BLT and there was a ton of crispy bacon on it. We also had some mozarella sticks that were cheesy and hot; the way they should be. We stopped here for breakfast on out way home from our vacation in Destin FL. It wasn't very busy but the service was pretty slow, which was fine since we didn't want vacation to end. :) The coffee was very good. We all ordered some variation of the 2 egg breakfast. The hashbrowns were nice and crispy on top, eggs were cooked well. The biscuit was nice and light and fluffy. My husband ordered the sausage gravy and said it was a close second to the one he makes. He has never said that about any other restaurants sausage gravy, so it must have been good, The restaurant was clean and the decor was cute and kitschy. The waitress offered coffees to go too, which was nice for our drive home. We will definitely stop here next time we travel this way. read more

It is almost impossible to find a restaurant in America today that serves a Blue Plate Special. Almost. I have been riding my motorcycle with other guys to this restaurant for years. Almost always busy and that says a LOT about any restaurant. Very affordable and can be heart healthy IF you pick the right foods. Otherwise it is a very traditional Southern fare and cooked fresh. Always ask for the vegetable of the day and be prepared for very good and friendly service. Get there either early for lunch or after the crowd has thinned. read more

Wonderful tasting food. We always get to go. The order is fast and what we ordered. The staff could be more pleasant. They are brisk but the place is packed by the time we pick up our order. We waited an hour for our food!! The waiter avoided us because she didn't know what to say about our food taking that long!! For a group of 4 it took an hour! Which is ridiculous! They weren't even sorry when we told them it's been an hour where was our food. We even had someone in our table go without a drink because the waiter wouldn't come back. Just okay nothing special. Wait staff is not very friendly. The waitress told us most items come from a can which you can taste. They have the potential to be a great local restaurant.
