They have lots…read moreof yummy looking and fancy sweet things to offer that will definitely tempt you, so beware :P The place is very popular and nearly always packed, we here in Maynooth love our cakes. You can get savoury food as well here but sure people normally just eat cakes. There is an upmarket feel to the place and it is a bit pricey. Good place if you feel like treating yourself though.

I am a big fan of Bon Bon!…read more It has a super cute interior - (Pastel antique/vintage - I suppose) Teas come in ornate tea cup and saucer and are all different designs which is really charming. Today I had the small Irish breakfast - it was nice (but a bit cold) with high quality produce (black & white pudding is always a dead give away) I find its just enough and you don't feel like your over indulging. I'm not crazy on the french brioche toast. When I had it it was just like eating cold brioche that had been brushed with a bit of egg.. I prefer to have my french toast hot and well 'soaked'. I've been here so many times for Breakfast and lunch - I'd recommend both. For lunch Everything I've had has been good - Soup, cheese tartlets, wraps..etc. They also do a 'Operation Transformation' lunch menu when the programme is on - if your watching your diet ;) Everything time I've been here the food has always been good and I will always go back. Service is good and the girls there are very attentive, friendly and most importantly helpful. They also have a selection of gluten free treats and dishes. Always a plus!

I wouldn't return other than to hear Magna's accent. She was the only highlight. The sticky toffee pudding was not good. Our friends thought sticky toffee pudding was gross until we found a place that makes it moist and perfect!

It can be hard to get decent food in the catchment areas outside of Dublin. The people dining with me all got wings & chips, setting them back about 16euro each. Super tasty wings and a big portion. I had the wrap & soup priced at 10euro for lunch. The soup was way too salty. You could forgive that, a mistake that happens. But the wrap had 2 tiny chicken nuggets in it with tomato salsa & iceberg lettuce. There was next to no chicken in the wrap - just tortilla wrap, and it was intentionally cut through the 2 tiny nuggets to give the impression there was more in the wrap The guys liked their wings, but we were all unimpressed with the way they cheated on the wrap! It doesnt cost much for a tiny bit of chicken flesh or fresh salad to fill out a wrap. I left hungry & felt a bit cheated. I could have got 6 chicken nuggets for 2euro at mcdonalds down the road. Instead I paid 10euro for 2, with salty soup at Avenue :(

My absolute favourite lovely little gem in Maynooth. You'd nearly walk right past it, but if you do…read morespot it don't let it be the one that got away. I'd initially been a little intimidated by it, having had one of my lecturers refer to the unit as a "hipster mecca" in Maynooth, but far from it. There are funny blackboard drawings outside the shop, changed daily. Let the quirky cartoons lure you in and you'll be greeted with a chirpy hello & a smile by one of the lads behind the counter. It's my ultimate cheer-up place in the town. Just the right size (Goldilocks would be delighted with this joint) as you can sit & do your thing in peace, or chat away to the other customers (there are a lot of regulars). However, at busy times there might not be much (or anything) in the way of seating, but fear not young caffeine addict - they do coffee to take away. My drug of choice is their mocha. The mochas and hot chocolates are made with chocolate buttons, which is just super luxurious & is a real treat. Sometimes I've gotten spare hot chocolate in a dainty little espresso cup at the side of my mocha. Chocolate on the side of chocolate? This is why I come back. They also serve a small range of sandwiches, which are great for when all the coffee you've consumed starts to burn a hole in your stomach. The croque monsieur will change your life, without getting too overdramatic about it. They've got different roasts of beans on offer, sourced locally and changed frequently. If, like me, you've got a limited knowledge of these things (but like to pretend otherwise), just ask which they'd recommend and you'll be happy out. All in all, (excuse me) "a damn fine cup of coffee" as Agent Dale Cooper would say.
