Storytimes, playground with views of the animals, a hayride, and more! I highly recommend the storytime. They read 2 stories, sang hello to every child, had songs/rhymes, played with a parachute, crafts, and even apples, donuts, and cider - all amazingly free!!! The playground was fun for my 2 year old son and 7 year old daughter, but best for the 1.5-6 age range. There are rest rooms beside the farm store, but they're medal toilets with no seats, so my daughter refused to use them. (I don't blame her.) That's the only thing that kept this from a 5 star experience. We'll be back soon. Worth the hour drive from where we live on the south shore.

Folks, they have a coffee share, a pasta share, a meat share, a mushroom share - goes on and on. The fruit is amazing! Service is exceptional. If you need it they get it for you. The nicest humans you may ever meet. Ambiance is smart and ethical business people meet hippies. The best food and the best people. In case you are not familiar with the co-op thing, members pay a certain amount of money to join the co-op, and in turn, get a bounty of fresh, locally-grown, mostly organic food items each week. It cost me about $600 for the season, and that includes weekly baskets of fruit, vegetables, cheese, and herbs from mid-June to mid-October. It also includes one fall basket and one winter basket. The quality of the food I've received thus far has been amazing. Everything is super fresh and super delicious. We've had everything from bok choy and salad turnips to bell peppers and blueberries, and it's all been outstanding. Plus the cheese! Oh, the cheese. It's all been SO good. There's been goat cheese, gouda, raw cheddar, monterey jack - the list goes on. We've also gotten a couple different types of vinegar from the Herb Farmacy too. Every week brings with it a new surprise. The best thing about being a part of this CSA (other than supporting local farms, the benefits for the environment, the quality, etc) is that the different types of items have forced me to go beyond my comfort zone and try new ingredients. I never would have bought Swiss Chard, for example, at the grocery store, but I've discovered how good it is since getting it through my share. So it's opening up all sorts of new culinary worlds for me. I know there's a pretty serious wait list for next season (at last count, I think they said there were 140 names on it), but if you are looking for a CSA in or around the North Shore (they have pick up locations in Melrose, Salem, and Marblehead every Thursday), check it out!

I was handed the bag from the owner herself with nothing but store-bought groceries iceberg lettuce store-bought cherry tomatoes and cucumbers and store-bought strawberries and green onions nothing from her farm, she said I hope this makes you a nice salad! I said I'm sorry this is not what I expected from a CSA as anybody would I'm supposed to be getting fresh produce . Thinking, I can go to market basket myself and do this. When I said I was going to contact the farm but I didn't want it she called me a bitch in front of three of the customers and then started yelling wow wow wow so you just can't please some people! I told her this is very unprofessional and not the way you treat a customer she said don't worry I'll give you money back. There's a lot of things she could've done she could've gotten fresh produce from another farm and told us about it in the email and apologized for the first week of CSA ! Upon calling her after still no response she said she would mail me a check yet she took a debit online. She said because of my attitude I was an allowed back like I would step foot near her farm again!

Lord knows my zucchinis don't even have flowers, so being able to pick up a few locally grown ones is awesome. They just had one counter of veggies around midday, but the barn they are using for a store is gigantic, and there were empty baskets stacked in one area and empty tables in another, so I assume it must fill up. The farm is gorgeous. There are beautiful rectangles of growing stuff everywhere. The people are friendly and they take credit cards, so that's super helpful, since I rarely have cash. I got some nice tomatoes and cucumbers (the latter better than the former, but it is really early and some of those earlier tomatoes are less flavorful, so I'm sure they'll get better), some zucchini and summer squash and green beans. Looking forward to my dinners this week with all those fresh veggies! They also had nice looking peppers (which we don't eat in this house due to a borderline allergy), and some potatoes, as well as some fruits. I was mainly after veggies, though. I understand they had lettuce somewhere, perhaps in the Coca Cola-style fridge I didn't check out, but from what I saw on the website, it was only romaine and iceberg. My favorite lettuce is Black Seeded Simpson, but the other "butter lettuces" in that family are good too. I dislike iceberg and am neutral on romaine. I'll be back! This place is not far and it's also near Shaw Farm, where I like to buy milk, so it makes for a nice trip. Lots of good food to be had!

I love being able to support our local community while accessing the highest quality ingredients!
