Clay Dreaming Pottery Studio is a dream! $5 per hour + the price of the thing you paint. I chose a wide mug (they have several options) and the others in my small group chose plates. The gals here explain everything to you: CHOOSE the thing you want to paint CHOOSE your paint colors: big paint bottles for larger pieces, medium paint bottles to take back to your table, grab a squeeze of different colors or grab a "dot" bottle (makes perfectly symmetrical dots on your piece!) CHOOSE your art accessories: brushes of all different sizes, sponges, stencils, etc. THEN GET ARTSY! I saw some people getting really overwhelmed because there ARE a lot of choices to make. Look up cool images/inspo before coming! Renege this is a creative space, so try not to get bogged down with all the choices. Pick something and go with it... There were several parents there getting their babies feet and hands printed on their piece- SO SWEET!

It is nice and glossy and it effectively removed that creepy unfinished clay like chalkboard feeling. They said it is dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe so excited to get it in rotation! They have a pretty quick turnaround time (3-5 days) and are very generous with their hold times. I embarrassingly will admit it took me a few months to get back to pick them up, and thankfully they still had them waiting in the back. Also, the garage DOES go through to the back of the building where The Painting Place is - so the directions are correct. It was much easier to get there this time when I realized it was a pull-through garage under the building lol.... I will definitely keep The Painting Place on my list for pottery crafts in the future!!

They ensured you had all the information before you started and were ready at any point for any questions you had. The setup of the studio was also organized and allowed you to have creative freedom. Another unique aspect that the painting place had was that their color tiles (examples for how the paint would look after firing) also included swatches before the kiln, and how it would look based on the amount of coats you made. They also had an assortment of examples for different applications on your pottery such as masking tape, masking tape stickers, freckled paints, and even glazes you would see on professional pottery. Examples of what you could make and the colors you could choose were all over the studio for easy reference. I had a lovely time and would certainly come back.

Wonderful pottery studio! Friendly and welcoming staff. Such a fun activity for all ages! Thanks!read more

Made by Me is a fun activity to do with friends, a date, or solo! The small studio is off Mass Ave,…read morenear a ton of good food spots and ice cream (shoutout to Barcelona Wine Bar). When you go in there are a ton of items on the wall to choose from, which have a base price. Some of them can be quite pricey but there are also some solid options that are $20 or less. I got this cute mushroom bird feeder that I plan to use for jewelry (I believe it was around $20?). Once you start paying there is a rate per hour that is charged on top of that item price. I will say that the studio has a very zen and relaxing vibe... until I remembered I was being charged per hour HA. There are stencils and a variety of colors to use for your artwork. I loved the stencil books because they helped so much, especially with the time constraint. When you're done with your piece they estimate about 7 days before it is ready for pickup. The staff were all super kind and helpful and the place itself was kept tidy. Overall, I had a great experience there with my friend and would go again. BONUS: I don't live in the area anymore and my friend dropped the ball on picking up our artwork. I recently went back to visit and since I was right across the street I decided to try my luck and see if my piece was there, and it was! I painted my mushroom bird feeder in December 2024 and it was still there 5 months later in May! AMAZINNGGGGG, really made my day.

This store is an enigma. Sometimes you'll find exactly what you're looking for and even much more,…read moreand sometimes there is nothing even remotely useful up for grabs. It mirrors the overall integrity of this store. For starters, with yet another persons' disgruntled review, the prices are tricky and misleading and are most often not wholesale whatsoever. Furthermore, receiving any sort of discourse about that fact often leads to an exciting visit from yelp reviewers' most frequent complaint; Bill the store owner. He might emerge from the back office where he aggressively conducts his customer support, or appear behind you peering out from the shelves of misc art supplies. Weather he is hovering over a transaction or fuming about the place, the environment is super tense and unhelpful for any kind of shopper. Admittedly tho, a number of the other staff seem to be commonly driven by creative endeavor, or if not, atleast a curiosity for varied art supplies. A unique feature of this store is the opportunity to request the allocation of difficult to find resources. But again, good luck ever making use of any of what this store claims to offer with such crude unfriendliness as a standard here. In conclusion, a visit to Beverly Art Supplies Wholesale* might just be in your favor, but more often than not you're going to leave here empty handed and kind of pissed. Definitely worth stopping by tho for a grab bag and a gamble *discounted if you'll withstand their creative spin on customer service
