My husband and I have passed this little cafe dozens of times, saying "We really need to stop there and check it out!" Today was the day! The place has a counter with kitschy bar stools in the front and in back are tables and booths. It's really decorated in a "garage" motif, think tin car signs, old oil cans, Mopar poster,etc. The waitress that helped us, Brittany, was bubbly, helpful and was fantastic! Hubby had a beef with onions and peppers sandwich with tots and I had an open faced beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. Delicious! The food was that comfort food we all crave and did I mention the portions?? Holy cow! The plates were loaded up! Probably enough food for 4 people! We agreed that this is a must do again! My last visit was very disappointing. Almost $30- for one person. The French Dip literally had one piece of roast beef folder over. There was more bun than meat for $11.99. Although they do have the most amazing mozzarella sticks, they have increased the price to $8.99 and decreased the number of sticks from eight to six. $3.25 for one soda and I didn't even get a refill. Waitress never checked back to see how food was or if I needed anything? Very disappointing. read more

Drove out from Nampa on review as one of the valleys best. Cafe was decorated in theme and clean. Wait staff was friendly when we arrived and took our order in timely manner. I had a breakfast but my eggs were not fried completely as requested and my coffee cup never got refilled. My wife had a burger and onion rings. She ordered well done and it came out with pink in the middle and the onion rings were undercooked. A nice little place but not worth the drive from the food standpoint. read more

July 8th we visited the "Garage Cafe" in Notus, Id. It has been a while since eating there but we needed to get out of the house for a bit. Wife Patti, sister Gayle and her hubby, Chuck, accompanied me on our "Get out of the House" day. Something you should know about this old gas station turned restaurant. They make half pound burgers and a bunch of home made pies. Lots of their food is "Home-Made", including the onion rings. We all tired the onion rings as an appetizer. They were just Okay. The homemade breading could use some spices for better flavoring. You could taste the onions nicely but the coating was pretty much just a tempura batter with little flavoring. Compared to the onion rings at "Good Wood Restaurant". Good Wood 5 out of 5, Garage Cafe 2 out of 5! Patti and I ordered the fish and chips to split and Gayle and Chuck ordered the "Burger, Fry and Pie" half pounder, lemon meringue was the pie choice. Well, they had no fish and chips so Patti and I split the ......... "Patti Burger" (no pun intended). We got it with fries and Patti also got a side salad. The burgers and fries were good and tasty, as was the pie and side salad. We enjoyed our meal and I would recommend a visit to this cute, little fixed up restaurant. Only one in town, I believe? They open at 8:00 a.m. for breakfast and lunches Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Fridays through Sunday. I think next time we visit we will try the breakfast menu. Found this little gem in Notus. The family was very satisfied with the delicious hamburgers. The fries are the standard but the homemade pie is a step above deliciousness. Pam the waitress is excellent and hustles, the food is great. The short haired lady is snarky and has attitude. After today I will only call ahead and take out. I'm a regular and spend lots of money in there and tip well, she helped 2 tables that I was there 10 minutes before, and then helped a gentleman that sat in the stool next to me that came in 20 minutes after me. I drank a whole beer at the bar and no one spoke to me for a half hour even when they were 2 feet in front of me, and helping people all around me that I was there before them that they knew by name. My partner and I stopped at the Garage Cafe in Notus today for lunch. We had the surprise of a lifetime bring back memories, the building was an actual working garage/service station at one time. It was actually turned into a Cafe restaurant with the best home-cooked meals in town. The walls are decorated with pictures, license plates, and miscellaneous memorabilia from the past. The food is fantastic, we ordered Hamburger, Sweet Potatoes fries and Pie. The hamburger looked and tasted home cooked. The sweet potatoes fries were the best we have ever tasted and the pie was the best. The portions were enough to feed a very hungry person and the friendly service was of the highest quality you will ever encounter. We will be going back again, its a must to stop and enjoy the environment and the fabulous tasting food. read more

A little lackluster. I had the wingnut burger. The fries as always were perfect. The burger not so much, the meat was cooked medium rare which is good for a burger. The taste was missing, the burger was bland seemed like it had no seasoning little bit of salt and pepper would have worked for me but it wasnt present in the meat. The cheese was perfectly melted. There was supposed to be sautéed mushrooms on top of the burger. I requested for sautéed onions as well. But that isn't what I received, I got poorly cooked mushrooms with warm pretty much wilted onions. They should have been lightly salted but werent. They did not have have sweet caramelized glaze that they should have. Portion size was largr which works for me. The 2 stars were for the fries. read more

I hate to do this to what was a great local greasy spoon, but I feel it necessary to highlight the decline in the quality of food being served here. I really love so much about this cafe, but the food is just not hitting that mark of quality. Service is definitely not lacking here, the waitstaff are polite and professional. The problem comes with the food. It's either one of two things; grossly overlooked or severely undercooked. Example 1: the last time I came in (Mothers day) I ordered a burger that I requested be a little pink in the center instead it came back over cooked and dried out. Example 2: Also on mothers day, my wife order French toast; one was cooked perfectly the other three slices were soggy and disgusting. The waitress was so polite and professional about the undercooked French toast (I did not complain about my burger, it was still edible). She removed the charge for the French toast and my wife's coffee but it still was a terrible way to spend a mothers day lunch. The waitstaff should not have to make up the the screw ups in the kitchen. Better quality control is severely needed. That kind of stuff should never make it to the patron. I really hope that the manager/ owner is able to correct the mess going on in their kitchen. We'll be holding off on visiting this place for a while. read more

Nic: Well, I just did, and you said one. Still a bit upset then, I reckon? Ran: And you're not? We walk in there on a Friday night, right after seven. Front of the house is packed with a bunch of young kids sitting at the bar, a couple of adults standing around or paying their bills from what it looked like. The place looks busy, but once inside the dining area, there was only one other couple and a family in the back who were eating. With only two tables occupied, that should have been my first clue, right there. Nic: What clue? The family that was eating? Ran: No, the couple that was sitting there with just a drink and an unhappy look on their face. I thought they had a fight but I bet you they were waiting as well. Nic: The woman that walked us to the table and gave us our menus said she'd be right back. Ran: Yes, she did say that. But she never came back, not even with water. And after fifteen minutes, I had had enough of waiting for someone to take our drink orders, our food orders, anything. By now, I had read the menu so many times I knew it by heart! Here, ask me anything, I bet I know the answers! Nic: I bet you do. I didn't mind waiting a bit since I figured she was tied up front with the rest of the customers. But when we gave up and walked out, she was just standing there chatting with some people. That's not right. Ran: Nope, that's not right. And then having the nerve to say "Sorry, guys!" as if it was nothing. Not even a "I'll be right with you" or "I'm so sorry, I got caught up, what will it be?" . Just a wave with the hand and a laconic "sorry". Well, I'm sorry I stopped there. Won't be doing that again. Nic: *sigh* No, I guess not. My wife and I are on out 10th Anniversary today and figured we would hit a new place for breakfast. After checking Yelp, we decided on the Garage Cafe. OUTSTANDING!!! I got the 2 egg/bacon/pancake platter with hash browns. Everything was cooked perfectly. My wife got the pork chop/eggs/pancake breakfast. I tried the chop... it was also cooked perfectly. Breaded and deep fried, it looked like fried chicken and was what I SHOULD have gotten! The pancakes were BIG and tasted like it had some cinnamon in them. No need for syrup. Our scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly. Hash browns were also great. Our waitress was friendly and informed us they have a Friday night Prime Rib special and all the meat (at least the beef) is from a local farm in Parma. I think we have found our new breakfast place. I have eaten many times and it has never been disappointing. This place hands down serves the BEST pancakes in the Treasure Valley and probably Idaho. There is a special warmness of spice to them with a slightly crunchy edge and fluffy goodness all around. The omelettes are always perfectly cooked with the right amount of preferred stuffings. The service is polite and aims to please. As others have said, the portions are huge. Don't stop at the breakfast menu because I have had a burger and sandwhich here before and they are equally as filling and delicious. This place is definitely worth the drive. read more

Kids getting hungry and wife gettin snippy...quick to the bat phone...find eats. It's not lookn too good. 1/2 hour west of the airport and it's nothing but farms. So we take a chance on the Garage. Dayuum! This place is smokin. Got the double jalapeño burger...forget what its called, the "Burnout" or something. Out of control good. Kids got pancake stacks to the ceiling and everyone left happy. This place is amazing! The ambiance is worth the drive alone and the food is excellent. We rode over for dinner with a group of Harley's and it poured down rain on us. After our meal the owner or cook (not sure if he was both) walked out unsolicited and wiped our bike seats off for us. What an amazing kind gesture. Sunny, friendly, quick service, delicious. The bacon is thick cut, the ham on the benedict is sliced extra thin. The burgers here are wonderful. Tried three different kinds and they were all nice. My favorite is the roadster. The homemade onions rings were terrible but the fries and tots were great. I live in Boise and commute to Parma for my job five days a week. I pass this place every day and it only took me about 6 months to actually stop and walk in and try something. This place is definitely one of those places where you think "hmm. Sketchy on the outside" but it is definitely a wonderful hole in the wall joint .... a place that is highly recommended. They have the most delicious things to offer and their homemade pies are to die for. The Dutch apple is by far the best !!! The owners are very nice and welcoming. I've even stopped aroynd 7 am on my way to work, ordered breakfast to go and 10 minutes later I'm back in my car ready to get back onto the road. I think I've been there enough times the owners now recognize who I am :) I've even had friends who also live in Boise drive the 45 minutes to Notus to get breakfast and then drive back. ... now that is dedication ... or a major craving that must be filled. Their dishes are reasonably priced and it is a place I'll even have to take out of town visitors in the future. read more

After a long trip from Portland, we arrived at closing time. The service was still friendly and inviting, she even offered to seat us! We ended up having a deliciously hand crafted burger, which is fresh ground weekly! The side salad was delicious with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheddar, topped with homemade croutons.
