I've visited and shopped this store over the past nine years or so. Unfortunately, it's a little on the decline. The space devoted to board games has shrunk and miniatures are hardly in stock. Lots of empty miniature space on the walls. It's also a little pricey (one item was ~ $20 less online). read more

This place was beyond amazing! my boyfriend and I are avid D&D players, and we were blown away by the variety of D&D figures, dice, paint supplies and terrain. The staff were super friendly. Also the space for gaming was incredible. I probably could've spent after two hours in that store. I think I could have spent 2 hours for people in there. read more

Was looking for a popular game that is not out of print. It wasn't in stock. I asked the guy if he could order it and I'd pay for it up front. The words out of his mouth were, "I don't know....these games can be hard to find." And then went back to doing whatever he was doing on his computer. Are you kidding me? Your whole business model is based on selling board games and you're telling me you can't lift a finger to order one from the distributor? His tone of voice and body language were consistent of someone who didn't want to be bothered. Well, message received, loud and clear! I won't ever frequent this filthy establishment again. You try to shop locally instead of buying off Amazon or another store that's out of state, and this is how you're treated. BTW, I ordered the game from GameNerdz. I found them through a recommended Reddit post. They have extremely good prices and cheap shipping. read more

I have been going here since the 90's. It has changed locations and owners since then, but its still my favorite shop. The owners always have good ideas and the selection is awesome. If I dont have any ideas I just go here and I'll find something captivating. read more

The first year with the New Owners has resulted in a massive turn-around!!! They have overhauled and expanded the gaming room! Now you have 6 Large tables, custom designed and made on which to play on.... The front half of the store has also been changed and is much better since it feels much more open. The family that owns it is VERY customer friendly, and is willing to order from their distributers anything that is available! (Note: with supply issues of this last year Effecting Every Type Of Store, sometimes they will let you know that it may be awhile before their distributers can have it available for ordering.) They've got locally made, 3D printed items for TableTop play as well as other locally made items. read more

Went back to this place for the first time in a while recently and it has really turned around. I used to go years ago and it was always the embodiment of Android's Dungeon if it was darker and the owner refused to dust. There was good selection, but that was it. Since the new owners took over about a year ago (at the time of this review obviously) it has shifted considerably. There is much more of a feeling of community now. Things a cleaner and better lit. Last time I was in there was even talk of expansion. If you haven't been in a while or were turned off before, give it another chance. Even the bad reviews on here are from over a 'em year ago if you notice. This really is a new place now. TLDR: This is a great place under new ownership. Give it a try again if you were burned before. read more

I've been a customer at the Game Keep for years and was always impressed with the selection and vintage feel. Admittedly the owner could have had better customer service and the place could have been a little cleaner. HOWEVER, as of January 1st, the previous owner retired and it is now under new management. I've only been once - but the place had a completely different feel and look. the carpets were clean, it smelled nice - even through a mask, and I was greeted at the door. I stuck around a while to chat with the new owners and I think this store is really about to become something truly wonderful again. I have to agree with the majority of reviewers on this one. The only reason I give it ant stars is for selection, which the store has a great selection, however it is absolutely filthy. This is one of the dirtiest gaming stores I've ever been in in my travels. The staff were less than friendly at best. The,people playing in the back group playing areas were unfriendly as well. I came into The Game Keep twice this week and found the staff friendly and knowledgeable. The Wednesday night D&D league was packed but they found a place for me and, wow, did I have fun. The people at my table were friendly and funny, and beyond this very helpful for an old schooler like myself adapting to 5e. It was an incredible experience. I will definitely be back. Certainly one of the better Game Stores in the Middle Tennessee area. I've been here several times over the years and have always been pretty satisfied with the selection. The prices are perhaps a bit high compared to on-line, but its a friendly atmosphere and worth a visit if you are looking for Role Playing goodies. read more

I asked the owner about dungeons and dragons and he said he wasn't the one to ask about that because he didn't know much (you run a game store... What?? ) I was browsing the board games when another customer came in and started talking to the owner. The owner then proceeded to go on a rant about how people come in and browse but don't buy anything and he hates those type people. He even implied I was one of those people while I was browsing. I did end up buying something even though the prices were marked up an obscene amount but got a look of derision for the item I purchased and heard a rather uncouth racial remark as my card was being run. On top of the owners rudeness and making me feel like a bother and unwelcome the place smelled gross and looked gross. Poor lighting and gross floors. I'll never go back. I'm not the type to leave reviews but I was made to feel so unwelcome and he was so rude that I felt it was necessary. I found the game cave down the road and I must say, their prices are great, customer service is excellent and the store is well-lit and smells nice. I'll be taking my wallet there instead. read more

Never experienced the old store, but based on what I've heard and what I have seen now this place has made a 180. It's clean, bright, well-organized, has a great selection, and gives me happy vibes. The gaming space in the back is large and appears to be have been decorated by someone who enjoys what they do. The owner is always engaged in conversation with customers. This is one of the filthiest stores I have ever seen. Before I was run out of the store, I would go in and periodically sweep, buy lysol and scrub the tables and in some cases the chairs down. This was over 2 years ago since I have even walked into the store and I suspect that it was the last time that any type of cleaning has been done. On a sad note, the owner made a comment to a question that I had, "I have no say in how they do that." Which I think is strange as it is his store and he has no say in how someone runs a game. Here's the thing- they have a nice selection of games. One could even say that it was impressive, which is nice. My issue with this place is everything else. The staff (man behind the desk) is not knowledgeable about the games, doesn't offer suggestions, and he seems more bothered that you're taking up his time than purchasing from him. Thanks to the wonders of Amazon Prime, hobby store like this need customer service and a nice atmosphere in order to thrive. He doesn't have either. I have no desire to buy from this place because it doesn't seem like he even wants our business. Now, let's take a minute and discuss the atmosphere. I refuse to go in if I'm wearing sandals. I really don't think the guy knows what a vacuum cleaner is. I'm not a clean freak, but it was obviously in need of a polyamorous relationship between Hoover, Windex, Clorox, and Lysol. The place was gross. So gross in fact that I was dared to use the restroom. I refused and my blatter hated me. I've used port-a-johns, I've used public restrooms in rural Mexico, and in rural dives, but I refused to even open the bathroom door. That should tell you something. If cleanliness and decent customer service are not important to you, then I'm sure you can find what you need. They seemed to have a steady crowd playing games in the back who must have adjusted their expectations or considered dirt part of the charm. Good for them. Anytime it is mentioned that we should stop by, I politely decline. read more

There are a ton of games there, so I suppose if you can deal with poor service it's worth checking out. There aren't a lot of stores where I can say I've purchased something at every visit. Game Keep is one of the chosen few. Overlooking the shop from the counter, the owner is friendly and talkative and while he'll always tell you what's new, he's never pushy. The shop is perfect for exploring, always something new around the corner. Books of online comics like Order of the Stick, role-playing game reference books, discs for frisbee golf, Warhammer figures, the wackiest card games you've never heard of and dice for days. Everything your inner gamer geek could want. I usually come out of there with new dice, which you can buy singly or in matched sets. All are reasonably priced. Another thing I appreciate is expansion packs for games like Gloom are always in stock. Hermitage is a little out of the way, but it is definitely worth the trip and there is always something new and fun to try. read more

Used to frequent this place as a child. I pulled my first holo 1st edition charizard here. Visited just recently to find top loaders and other accessories. Lady behind the desk seemed agitated that I simply asked if they had toploaders. Now, this place is barren, very dusty, and the employees all kinda have this "I know more than you about your hobby" thing going on. I couldn't browse what was in stock because they wouldn't stop trying to get me to buy other stuff that I didn't ask for. Not a pleasant experience. read more

I went in looking for used Wii games for my ever youthful mother in law, but apparently failed to read the fine print. Or at least notice the castle logo on the sign. This is a place for the Dungeon and Dragon crowd. That much I can give that place. They had hoards of graphic novels, strange multi sided die, varying versions of Monopoly, and lots of little fairy and dragon figurines. If that's up your alley, this place is worth a stop in. You'll love the selection, and the staff was very helpful. They asked twice if we needed help finding anything. read more

I have been here plenty of times and I have always found it to be a great place to get all of your role-playing needs filled. They have been willing to order anything that I asked for when I requested and have been up to date on all of the things I needed. As long as you are looking for board games, pen and paper and models this is your place. If you are after videogames though, you might want to keep on going. read more

I have to say that I was pretty impressed by this place. I don't go to game stores very often but recently I started hosting a D&D night and for the first time I needed a miniature(my last group didn't use maps). Anyway, a friend and I went to all the game stores in the area and couldn't find what we were looking for. He wanted a Dwarf fighter and I wanted an Elf fighter. After checking all the stores we could find near us and feeling the defeat of possibly never finding our characters, a member of our group suggested the Game Keep. At first we were skeptical because it was an hour or so from where we lived, however I am very glad we decided to make the trip. We finally found them! I was very excited as soon as I walked in. This store was everything I had imagined it to be. It wasn't messy but wasn't spotless. It wasn't too cluttered but it had a variety of different things. There was so much to look at in such a little place and the best part was that the people who were tabletop playing at the store were in a completely different room of the store. Which made it a really nice experience. I hate going to these stores and having to walk around tables and ask people to scooch their chairs in and such. Not to mention the distraction of it all. For them and us. But this place was obviously decorated and set up by a true tabletop gamer. Loved it! read more
