So this is my first yelp review, and it's because this place is just that good. This is seriously my favorite place to do/get my laundry done! I am a costume designer who works with a two high school theatre programs. I dropped off two huge bags of laundry that had been worn by high schoolers for two weeks during tech and performances -we are talking shirts with terrible make-up stains on the collars, stinky sweaters, and pretty sad pants. They charged $1.00/lb to take care of all of my garments, wash and dry. I had forgotten to specify that there were some sweaters in my bags that I wanted to have hang dry, and about 15 minutes after I left the store they called me to make sure they handled everything exactly how I wanted it done. I picked up all of my laundry the next day (they had offered to have it ready the same day) and I was totally blown away! Everything was so clean and smelled amazing! All of the collars on the shirts looked better than I had ever seen them. I have also done other show laundry at the laundromat myself. The fact that I can use a credit card at the machines is amazing! The whole place is super clean, the attendants are wonderful and so helpful. I will definitely keep bringing all of my show and personal laundry here from now on! read more

Lady that work on Sunday morning is very rude. She won't answer you or anything when you ask her something. Definitely does not have any customer service skills. They dont even deserve a star. Management should be more involved. read more

This place is horrible half of the machines are broken, mildew in the machines where you depense soap the place is falling apart.

I haven't been to a laundromat in ages so unaware of the norm for pricing. The washers ranged from smaller ones that cost $3.50 to large normal sized ones that were $4.25/$5.50. They also had some super sized washers that were taken so I didn't see the priced but it could definitely wash large comforters or other items. There were plenty of machines available at 10am on Saturday. Dryers were $.25 for 10-15 minutes. Some of the inside of dryers had some sticky spots that my sock stuck to but overall they were clean. There were plenty of rolling carts available, chairs to sit in and tables to fold laundry on. They also provide complimentary sprays to wipe down counter tops. The prices of washers at this laundromat really surprised me but overall it was a nice luxury to be able to wash and dry all my loads at 1 time. They have a parking lot which is a plus and staff on site if you have questions. read more

First of all the machines never work the dryers don't work, Second of all most of the workers are very rude Today I had a horrible experience One of the laundry Mat workers took my clothes out of the washer without my permission and when i asked why because I was confused and upset which I have a right to be All she did was give me attitude Which she always has everytime I come to wash my clothes . Twice we went here to drop off laundry and there will not be a third time. Lost one of my favorite dresses. I separated my clothing from my husbands and asked them to write down my instuctions and did not read the directions they wrote down from me and screw up all our laundry. It is such a mess. Every time I use any washer , it eats up my quarters. I easily loose about a dollar every time I go. And they don't help when I tell them about it. Also the dryers sometimes burn my cloths. Had a nice purple sweater I had recently bought and when it came out it had spots that are still unable to come off . Never coming here again read more

I am really impressed with the overall quality and friendly staff. The machines are massive in case you need to wash large blankets. Unfortunately I lost 2 quarters to one of the dryers. Staff opened the coin box to check if something got caught, but couldn't find anything. Still I highly recommend this facility - make sure to use the credit/debit cards (no fees). Two stars. I still remember this place. Now I went here late one night and I was on a job/out of town - but I was irresponsible and didn't wash my laundry before my flight. So I say irresponsible, because it was irresponsible of me to visit this place. It was late at night when I went; and I have a pretty nice car; I didn't feel safe leaving it in the parking lot because I had a bunch of really, really expensive equipment in the back. (I mean, I risked my clothes getting stolen over this...) So yeah- it's in an unsafe area, and seems the homeless frequent this place at night. No one spoke english; which is fine - just saying; expect to speak spanish. My spanish is poor - but I got by. The staff really is quite endearing and nice. You also can't pay with coins or normal money. You need friendly wash credit cards; so expect to put $20 into the machine, you need to go through a process if you want to get your leftover cash off of the card later... Kind of strange to me. Anyway, other than feeling like I was living back in Saint Louis or Detroit, it was okay. I thought the dry spot where a homeless guy was sleeping on a cardboard box bed and asked to leave was a nice touch. read more

The Friendly Wash Laundromat - Laundromat Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Things that are wonderful: 1) The staff - I have been here twice now and both times found the staff to be courteous and helpful. Today when I went, I had a particularly large load and a Yelp check-in special. The girl that was working helped get me set up and even came up to tell me when she would be taking a break in case I needed something. Things that are awful: 1) The clientele. Both times I have been here, the place has been brimming with children. Normally, I am not the type of person that minds kids hanging out particularly in places that are geared towards families (laundromats) but I had a small child run in to me about 4 times and a baby that a spent all evening screaming and crying. At one point, I counted 4 children between the age of 3 and 5 running around in circles around me. Parents ignore this and staff does nothing to make sure that it is a pleasurable experience for everyone. I think a daycare center would be more useful here than the big screen TV. Things that are overrated: pretty much everything 1) Credit card readers - Only the top dryer accepts credit cards but there is no indication of this anywhere. Also make sure that your bank knows you're a neat freak because each ten minutes is treated as a separate authorization and may lock you of your card (happened to me tonight) 2) The big screen - there is one TV and majority rules. The chairs set up across from it are uncomfortable and there is a strong gust of wind from the automatic door and the children running past it every two minutes. 3) The washing machines- Yes , they have a 100 pound washer but it will cost you. I used a 30 and a 70 pound washer tonight and I had not had the special, it would have run me a total of about 10 bucks. That's about 5 regular washers at comparable laundromats and my load would have fit in about 3. Long story short - Yes it's clean. Yes the machines are new. Yes it is expensive. If you need to go to a laundromat, this is a decent choice but mostly because of cleanliness and staff. read more

I recently moved to an apartment in the area without laundry on-site and no car. I opted for the pick-up/drop-off service and I am pleased as punch! A representative picked up my laundry at 9am and delivered it back to my door cleaned, folded, and smelling dreamy only three hours later, amazing! The best part, it was only slightly more expensive than I would have paid doing my laundry myself, but for all the time and effort I saved it was 100% worth it. I was able to pay with a card which I loved because I never carry cash, and they had a little area to buy extra laundry goods. I have never left this place without one or more of my items messed up by bleach. I'm not saying it's because I add bleach. As far as I can tell, there's two reasons for this: --Bleach remains in the machines between users, either in the dispensers (where you put the soap and stuff) and drum (where you put the clothes). --The places you put the soap and bleach and stuff are never completely clean. And apparently they are not clean enough to avoid this happening. The other possible issue is trace amounts of bleach on the counters. Three recommendations if you go here: Check the place you put soap and whatnot before using a machine. If there's lots of residue left over, move to another machine. Bring a squirt bottle of water and paper towels to wipe down whatever you use, including the soap compartment, place you put the clothes in the machine and counters. Use cash and not credit. It might be just my miscalculation, but I'm pretty sure I've been overcharged. If you use credit, keep an eye on what you're charged. So why three stars and not zero? Most of the other places are cramped and filthy with junky equipment. Parking is usually easy. The place is safe and cleaner than most. It does get hella busy. My last trip, the lone employee there spoke perfect English. That's unusual and I have experienced a language barrier. I'm not complaining about that; most of the clientele is Spanish-speaking. It's just something to consider if you can't speak Spanish. read more

This place is my favorite; the facility is always clean and well lit with great washers and dryers. Parking is available right out front and the staff are friendly and helpful. If you should forget any laundry supplies they sell detergent, dryer sheets, softener, bleach... there is coffee, seating and TVs. They also have a ginormous washer for when you find yourself short on time (or just lazy and hate sorting/separating). If you don't carry cash, the washers accept credit cards! Crazy right? I should note that despite having an ample amount of machines, this place still experiences the usual laundry "rush hour" - i.e Saturday mornings, Sundays, holidays... Although I do (strangely) enjoy cleaning clothes here I plan on calling their laundering service as they'll both pick-up from and deliver to my home, at my convenience. Has anyone tried this service? Very clean, plenty of machines and room to fold your laundry. I like that they had a change machine, attendant on duty, laundry supply vending machine and the complimentary coffee was a nice touch. If I ever need to use a laundromat, it will definitely be this one. read more

I love this place! All the machines are brand new and state of the art. You can use your credit/debit card with some of the machines & dryers. The 100lb machine is great! I used it may first time and it left my clothes better than expected. The owners and the staff are all extremely nice! This is my go-to spot for all laundry needs. I have a washer/dryer at my place but if I lose power, they break down, etc....or when I just want to get more laundry done in a shorter period of time, I'm happy to go to Friendly Wash. Their Yelp check in deal for a free washer load is generous since you can use it every time you go, and the place is very well kept with washers and dryers always available regardless of what day/time you go. The clientele there are respectful and the free WiFi makes it a great place to get work done while you wait. I really have no complaints...sometimes parking isn't readily available in the lot if there are a lot of people but there's also free street parking nearby so it's never been an issue. I have been going here consistently since September and last time I was there (about 2 weeks ago), I realized I made a mistake as soon as I walked in. It was a Friday night and every family in the neighborhood seemed to be in there - the ENTIRE family. I understand that this is a family establishment, and don't mind children AT ALL, but when you let your kids use the laundromat as a playground for 3 hours, complete with climbing under tables, INTO machines, and just running around in general, it can get a bit intense. It's the parents job to control this - some do, some don't. The last time I was there, however, there was something that the staff could've done with an issue that arose. A mom and daughter (older, late teens) were in and literally took over the ENTIRE wall of dryers. I arrived well after they started their dry cycle, but still when I was done, they were not removing or paying attention to their stopped dryers, so I had to shlep all my wet laundry to the other side of the laundromat and find random free ones. Not real convenient when you're trying to navigate through children running around and other patrons, who were obviously peeved at the same issue. I really think that, on busy nights such as this evening, the staff needs to limit how many machines people can take over. I think less than 10 is reasonable. So, my suggestion is to go either later morning or after 8 p.m. By then, it seems most families clear out, and the single people move in. Otherwise, clean. A bit expensive, but clean. read more

Well I liked this place... originally. The best thing about this place was the machines that allow you to pay with a card. I come here on a Tuesday completely empty besides a few workers that are here washing their clothes.. I know they are workers because the lady has a key and is not adding any coins to the machines... they take up allllll the medium and smaller machines that you can pay with a card. Ok whatever I make it work... sure I had to use a huge machine for a very small load but whatever screw it...Now it's time to dry I see 2 large machines and run to grab them as they are EMPTY. Only to have the worker tell me it's there's and not only that but she's using all of them. Okay I'm pissed. I remove my things explain to the on duty worker if I can use the other side that is for drop off only which is completely empty.. not one machine on that side is being used and she tells me I can use the small one only!!?$?!??!!?!! Okay sure I'll stuff my two loads of laundry all inside this one small dryer because you don't want to let me use ONE MORE FREAKING MACHINE. I go back to the other side to if I can get another dryer because I still have another 2 loads I need to dry....ohhh one of them has ended. But of course there was still contents inside so I ask to see who's it is and ask if they were done and of course it's the same freaking workers. Now I'm a paying customer and can't freakin PAY to get any of my clothes to dry PROPERLY... I've had to stuff 4 loads in 2 small machines. Will not be coming back ever ever again. read more

The staff here is truly friendly and the shop is immaculately clean. Everything is brand new. The washers work well and quickly. I love that I can use my debit/credit card. The card readers are not on every machine, so you might want to bring quarters just in case. It was not crowded when I was there (Saturday late morning/early afternoon) so I had no issue finding an open washer and dyer. The dryers work very well. I only had to throw in a couple quarters and my clothes were dry. The only downside is that the parking lot is small, but they share with a tutoring company and a dry cleaner (maybe something else too). I had to park on Kedzie, but it was right in front of the businesses. I used to go to Bubbleland on Elston and Kimball, but not anymore. read more

I've been doing wash here for a few years, and the quality of the establishment has really declined. Only one door to the business was working, the windows and floors were dirty, the door mats are tattered, the trash cans were close to overflowing, and this was in the middle of the day. The rest room had no toilet paper, and the folding tables were dirty. I'm sure it doesn't help when toddlers sit on the tables eating and spilling potato chips. Check the dryers for mystery melted substances before using. The sidewalks in front and the parking lot are a large unswept ashtray. read more
