My husband and I finally got to come to the Fridge a week ago and it was the perfect spot for a Friday night: We were exhausted from the week, just wanted a few drinks and craving some "hang out" food. This was PERFECT. Obviously, The Fridge has an amazing fridge full of an insane variety of beers AND ciders which made me super happy. Then their food, which the gal behind the counter was very nice about explaining to a bunch of newbs how to order. Their pizza is nice and thin, not too crazy or heavy. Love their pickled beets too. Just great snack food and wonderful beer selection. Also nice to sit outside. read more

BEST GOURMET PIZZAS ever!!! I just love every single one!!! The crust is not just delicious but really thin -(which I personally prefer)-, but the combination of ingredients is soooo TASTY, ORIGINAL, UNIQUE and on top of that: HEALTHY! Large variety of local and imported beers and ciders!!! Although the menu is not very vast, between the delicious food, nice ambience and beer variety, what they have to offer is just enough to enjoy every visit! Amazing beer selection that rivals almost anywhere else in the world. The food is solid and the owners and staff are super friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. I ordered a half of a cuban sandwich and was unaware that by "half" they not only mean half of a sandwich but also half the meat. My cuban had 1 slice of ham and maybe a single ounce of pulled pork, and that's being generous. It actually had more pickles than meat. Luckily, I ordered a pizza, which was decent, and it was the only thing that kept me from returning to the store to get my money back or to have a new one made. This store blows. I drove half an hour to get there just to get a growler fill of this specific beer. I have a 32 oz. growler that I've filled at dozens of places and the staff claimed it couldn't be filled because the neck was too small. Are you kidding me? And then you don't even have 32 oz. growlers for purchase? Their pizza is as crunchy as a triscuit. The beer prices are some of the highest I've seen in the country and I've travelled across most of it. Avoid. read more

Wonderfully casual place to eat. Walk up and order at the counter. Great healthy gourmet pizzas and unique lighter fare. I enjoyed the chicken tacos with salsa Verde and pickled red onions. 2 for $8. The taco variety changes (the other option tonight was a pork with Chipotle fig and pineapple salsa). They also have multiple varieties of gourmet pizzas, including some great vegetarian options. Some are regular on the counter others are nightly creations. I got a cranberry orange margarita off the specialty cocktail menu, but standard is wine or a bottle of beer from the multiple "fridge" doors. Fun place with lots of regulars. It can get busy and although there is outdoor counter seating, during the winter it is a bit cramped and hard to find a seat during busy times. Good pizza, great beer selection, not very many places to sit and it's pretty crowded for dinner but it adds to the atmosphere. I enjoyed my experience and the service is very friendly. Definitely will be back. *Added after a few visits; I have to adjust my review with some updated insights. The pizza has the right idea and if you eat it on premise it does not get as soggy as if you take it to go, but it's still a mess to eat. I haven't seen a beer selection like this outside of a distributor many places and they are always trying to get new things on tap and in their fridge so kudos for that. The biggest gripe I have is that if you want to buy a six pack with mixed beers your paying about $20 for a six pack, there's no six pack discount so the mark up is a bit rough. I want to believe that this place was created b/c it wants to offer something that isn't offered in Lancaster but it seems like they've opened a place where they can gouge customers and make them think its the trendy thing to do. In saying all of this they are still the only ones that offer the selection of beer they do and I will most likely be back, but it doesn't mean that it doesn''t annoy me read more

Meh. I hate to give this place only two stars, but I feel I need to. Conceptually--great, fresh-ingredient pizza and tons of beer--but, The Fridge is kind of a mess. We went with a group of 8 hoping to hang out and drink some beers with a few slices. We arrived at 8PM and there wasn't a single empty chair, which is great that they are packing in the people. I actually think this is where my experience quickly went downhill. The layout is pretty horrible. The space is long, narrow and cramped and there guests are left bumping into each in confusion to where the line begins and where to pay for beer vs. pizza. Irritating. Next, the beer. This place touts hundreds of beers. Yes, it has a TON of beer. However, the selection, while expansive, is not really impressive. I would actually say the Belgian selection is better than the micro offerings. Lastly, the beer is too expensive. They have a mix-a-six option which is great, but their is no cost saving incentive. It's a price per bottle mix a six, so be prepared to pay $18-$24 for your six pack. The food. I will give The Fridge props in this category. The pizza is REALLY good! The ingredients appear to be exactly what the ownership claims--fresh and local. The combinations are really great too. The winning pie for me was the pork, plantain, jalapeno and pickle pizza. It is seriously good and for being thin and crispy, strangely filling. The downer...you can't choose your own toppings. My friends were literally told "no, you cannot have bacon on your cheese pizza." My advice; get your beer elsewhere, have no expectations of topping modification and plan to carry out and you will likely have a 5-star pizza experience. read more

UPDATE: They've worked out the kinks and now offer pizza til close. We went back this past Saturday night and tried some. My slice was spinach and mushroom, my husband's was something with eggplant. Both were delicious! Also, the cooler was way fuller (hey, that rhymes!) this time around and one of the owners told us it was still low by his standards. Great beer selection, reasonable prices. Not to sound like an idiot, but a sign or two for newbies on "how it works" would be nice. If burrito shops can do it, the fridge can too. In the absence of signs, we mistakenly asked an employee to steer us in the right direction. Instead, he was dismissive and fairly rude (no eye contact!) and basically provided no assistance whatsoever. Rather than nicely setting us straight that the "proper" procedure is to select your beer, pay at the register, then grab a seat, the woman at the counter came off like a total snob in reaction to our missteps. I know the concept isn't rocket science, but you don't have to treat your customers like they're a bother or a hassle when they have questions. Also, last call at 10 pm? No food other than pizza? I really want to like this place. I was so excited to hear that a place like this was opening near me. It's always great to find a mix-and-match shop, and the craft flatbread pizza sounded like a delicious touch. Unfortunately, I had a subpar experience on both visits. I visited once on opening day, and again a couple weeks ago. I had similar complaints about both visits, so I'll just recap the latest one. The pizza looks wonderful, and there are always some interesting topping combinations available. But unless you order a whole pie (or get lucky and arrive just as they run out of your preference), you're stuck with a slice of pizza that's been sitting on the counter for who-knows-how-long. They give it a brief pass through one of those cafeteria-style reheaters with the conveyor belts, but it doesn't actually heat up the pizza and you end up with a cold, rubbery slice. There was a lot of confusion when we got to the register and ordered our beers. It seemed like ordering from the taps was an inconvenience, and after some shuffling around, we were told that one of the beers would be "right out." The place was almost empty, and they had already handed over one of the beers, so it seemed strange. It took over five minutes for the second beer to get to our table, which was plenty of time to ensure that the pizza would be stone cold. The staff member seemed to be tending the tap the whole time, so I assume it's a clog or something. This is one of the problems that existed on opening day. Please fix your taps, Fridge! After finishing our food, we browsed the beers for a while. They've got an impressive selection, and most of it is in the cooler. I'd prefer seeing more shelved beer so I could put my purchases into storage at home, but I can't hold that against them - after all, they're called The Fridge! The chilled bottles of Dogfish Head's World Wide Stout did seem like a crime, though. As I was browsing, I asked a passing employee about the mix-and-match discount that I thought I'd recalled from my first visit. I was told that they couldn't do that anymore because of "a new law." Funny, the other mix-and-match places I know still do that. We found a few bottles we wanted to take home and we brought them up to the counter. An employee stepped behind it and gave us a look like we had several heads apiece as he poured himself a beer and went back into the dining area to talk with his friends. We were pretty thoroughly disillusioned with the place by the time someone else came by to ring up our purchases. Great idea, one that's a huge asset to the area. If only the staff cared about their product. Tip: Be prepared to order a whole pie (or two) for your party. That way, you'll get a fresh one. read more

So hip and cool! Kind of a shocking realization that I've never seen or heard of a bar/beer store called The Fridge before. Seems like it should be a common name for such an establishment. Like a supermarket called "The Pantry" makes perfect sense. Or an auto-shop called "The Garage". I digress... I was visiting from out of town and was super excited to see Sweetwater in stock! I wish I had gotten a shirt or button or something. And more Sweetwater. Obviously a little spendy, but there's a price to be paid if you want to hang with the hipsters. read more

Exceptional. I have been here several times and it never disappoints. The layout is funky and cute - there's even a fireplace! I've had the great pizzas several times and they're always topped with interesting freshness: sweet potato, zucchini, kale, hummus, portobello, crimini...you can't go wrong! And the beer selection is second to none ( got an awesome "evil smoosh" ipa today). Today my friend and I came for a burger. What an experience: two mouthwatering explosions- "bat out of hell" (spicy aioli, bacon, arugula, copper cheese) and "yeeeeehaw" (bacon-jalapeño cream cheese, tomato lettuce onion). Wish I could have ordered mine medium cooked ( they were both well done), but I loved it all the same. Service is perfect. Keep it up!!! read more

It's funny, because in 2012 when I first reviewed The Fridge I would have no way of knowing that it would be one of my solaces and safe havens when in the city. I would end up moving across the street a few years later. The selection is obviously the focal point here: it probably offers the widest selection for a bottle shop outside of Philadelphia. Kevin and Skully are always keeping things interesting and fresh. Hill Farmstead in Pennsylvania? Sure, why not? The Fridge was also one of the first taprooms to carry Tired Hands on draught (not to mention they pretty much have a dedicated tap line for the brewery). For a beer lover this is heaven. Don't overlook the food either. Yes, everyone talks about their flatbreads, but the small chalkboard on the wall to the right of the counter is where it's at. If they're offering a sandwich special, get it. Also, the hot dogs are so, so delicious and great if you're feeling peckish. The best time to come here is during the day because you can almost always find a seat. At night, finding a table or even a chair can be a bit rival, but be patient fellow beer lover, the wait is worth it. read more

My cousin lives in Lancaster and knows i love the good beer. He said that this is his local watering hole so I had to check it out. A great spot to grab some beers that might not make it to other places in the area. They have about 6 brews on tap and offer up some pizza and other snacks. We ordered some brews and they had the Dogfish Head pickles that we ordered. Pickles and brew...who could ask for more. I really enjoyed hanging out and going through the massive selection of bottles that they offer. They pizza looked good but we were not hungry we just snacked on the pickles. So I will admit this review is a bit biased, as i don't drink beer... though i've got lots of friends who do, so I've been here on multiple occasions. The beer selection is superb at least for Lancaster, according to my friends... oh, and the fact that I have eyes and can see they have one of the largest varieties of any place i've been to in PA. However if you don't drink beer you are pretty much out of luck. They offer a couple of bottled sodas and teas (don't expect any diet soda... they refuse to carry any even after multiple requests), and if you want water they will give you a tiny cup to use... but God forbid you want some ice. The food is good, but nothing out of the ordinary exciting. The sandwiches are yummy, and the pizza tastes decent, but you'll have to get 3-5 slices if you actually are considering it as a meal. The space is trendy industrial, but small. The service is average; everyone is efficient, no one is memorable. So I can recommend this as a place to grab a beer, maybe a snack... however, if you want a proper restaurant or pub you should look elsewhere. read more

I have been coming to the Fridge since they opened. At that time they where the only place in town offering a good selection of craft beer. However fast forward to late 2014 and the competition is stiff. You come here for the beer and the selection is pretty darn good. For a bar\restaurant that has bottled beer the prices are fine. If you want to get some beer to go... well I would go elsewhere because it can get expensive quick! The pizza is thin crust but the toppings are great... wait let me go back a second. The crust is thin... I actually joke about it because its like a 6$ cracker with good toppings. i am not complaining about the pizza's taste, it is good but it is a little overpriced. The draft beer is hit or miss. Sometimes they have a variety of beer and you just cannot decide what to get, other times it is just IPA after IPA after IPA. I like IPA's but there are other styles out there and the fridge sometimes seems to be fixated on that style of beer. If this was August 30th 2011 I would give the Fridge 5 stars all the way because it would have been one of the only places to get some good craft beer. But now they are kind of fading into the background a little bit. read more

Our friend from Lancaster has been telling us about this place for a few months now. So when we were up there for our friends engagement we carved out some time to stop by. The vibe of this place is very chill and it actually reminds of a few places I used to love in AZ all put together. They serve food, and you can peruse their bottle selection, purchase, and drink onsite. You can also make your own 4-6 pack to go, which is what we did. I liked that they offered some bomber bottles (unrefrigerated) for purchase, including some local fave. There are also 6 or 7 cases full of single cans and bottles for purchase ranging from local stuff only found in PA to some interesting looking European stuff. I liked that they had both 4 and 6 pack holders available to fill. Though we weren't able to give this place the attention we wanted to on that trip, were already planning to go back to Lancaster and this place is a definite stop. read more

The beer selection here is pretty decent. It's one of the only carryout places in Lancaster where you have the option of drinking inside the establishment. I'm sure every beer lover will be able to find something that they will enjoy sipping or chugging at this joint. The pizza here is absolutely terrible. This place prides itself on the fresh ingredients/variety that they serve, but if you're ordering by the slice that pizza's probably been sitting out for hours if it's not one of the more popular pies. On top of that a good flat bread pizzas requires a brick oven, and not the conveyor belt gizmo that they got going here which turns out a less than crisp and always lukewarm slice. Simply put, I love The Fridge. And going by how crowded it is in the evenings, I'm not alone. Very simple food menu, mainly pizza with a couple sandwiches/soup/snack type stuff. When a beer guy from San Diego visits and is impressed, you're doing something right. The Fridge is awesome. Great selection of craft beer from all over, from San Diego (hell yes) to all of Cali to Colorado to Oregon, Michigan, and of course PA. In a state where liquor laws still date back to the 1800's, it's great to be able to get a pint, buy a bottle and take it with, or get a bottle and drink it there. And the pizza? Excellent. I stopped in, enjoyed a Victory Golden Monkey and a few slices of pepperoni and veggie pizza. Loved it. The music, low key vibe, and gorgeous view of the beer cooler made for a memorable lunch. The service is terrific too. The gal behind the counter poured me a sample of a killer IPA when she found out I was from San Diego and a hoppy beer guy. If you like beer, especially craft beer, and you like a good vibe and good food, make a pit stop here. You will NOT be disappointed. read more

My husband and I just left here!! We had pizza and beer and I had a glass of wine. The reason for two stars because the atmosphere, the seating, and staff was not a warm friendly place that invite's you to come back here. One guy that was a staff person passed our table several times and never stopped to check on us and never had so much as a smile on his face, so you kinda feel like a invisible customer!!! And I would have liked a regular beer like a Budweiser or Corona added to this fridge!!! We are from Texas and know a lot of people that are working in this area but I would not recommend this place to them!!! A place of business needs to understand you have a one time chance to impress and gain new customers, but the place didn't have it for me!!! Pizza is pretty tight and so is the seating. Place is usually packed. Food selection is always fresh as they continuously make the pizza. So like, I get it. There's good beer and pizza, but why has this become the beersnob mecca of Lancaster? Maybe you just notice it more when you're shoulder to shoulder with people. This place is great. I go for the bottled beer selection. They have hundreds of different beers. Prices range from $2.50 and up, so you can try a few and not go broke. Pizza is creative and tasty, but not orgasmic. Solid though. It's a little crowded, but I overlook that for the beers. read more

Fabulous hang out spot. A little noisy with all the concrete and metal but a top notch place. Wonderful beer selection and great artisan pizza. It seems a great place to hang out with friends but also not nearly so bar like that it would be strange to bring kids. It seems a general welcoming place. All service is from the counter, but you can run a tab. I'm not a big beer person but my beer loving friends find this an excellent stop. read more
