It is so refreshing to shop at a store where the employees are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Throughout the store, every employee provides great customer service. This store is nicely arranged, with attractive displays at the end of every aisle. Every time I shop at Fresh Market I end up trying something new. So many unique food items to try. Today my new item was the jalapeño pimento cheese spread. It has just the right amount of jalapeño, not too hot. Just a nice flavor kick. The cashiers are always outstanding. I shop here often, however, this review is specific to the prepared foods department. I've lost count of how many times I've been treated poorly by the staff in this department. They make it very obvious how miserable they are scooping up my purchases. Time and time again I ignore it and yesterday was the final straw. An gray haired older woman was huffing and puffing the entire time she fulfilled my three items. Before she filled the last container she said with a scowl "Are you getting anything else?" Then tossed me my last container and walked away. I appreciate the prepared foods and this is part of the reason I frequent this store, but I've lost my patience with rude employees in the prepared foods. They make me want to go elsewhere. I guess I've been under a rock! How did I miss this little hidden gem.... It may be old to you, but it's very much new to me. This boutique style grocery store is located in Coventry Corner strip mall. It is decent in size and has ample shared parking with the other business in the strip. They offer almost everything most traditional grocers sell, but it appears to be on a healthier scale. I purchased a great deal of fruit on my most recent visit. It was all fresh and firm. They have a fresh meat counter and a deli area. They appear to also make specialty breads fresh on site. The lighting was a little low, almost too low for me, but it's a nice store with plenty of options. Guests are immediately greeted by their arrangement of florals and plants. read more

I had finished shopping next door at Honey Baked Ham Company and decided to go into The Fresh Market. I will admit I had never shopped in one before, i shopped in Whole Foods when I had the choice in Miami. But, there is no Whole Foods here, I decided to check it out. Loved The Fresh Market. It has a huge chocolate and candy section, aisles long with tons of different gourmet options. That by itself won me over. Its produce section is solid and I loved the different variety of meats it sells. I wanted to take some Irish bangers to take home, but they were almost out. I asked one of the butchers there for assistance and he went to the back and got me some more. So the service here is excellent. They also have a hot food area that had some delicious korean bbq wings as well as rotisserie chickens that were either a butter garlic herb or a white wine herb. I actually bought them all. My family had the wings when we got home and had the rotisserie chickens another day when we put them back in the oven. The wings were delish! And those rotisserie chickens... oh my god! The only disappointing items I got here where from the bakery. Their desserts looks good but meh not the best. For instance I bought a tres leches dessert... I've had a lot better. I had reserved two cold water lobster tails. Opened the package at home and got two warm water tails instead. Mistakes happen. I get that. No one is perfect. They get 5 stars because they handled it perfectly. Talked to Matt in the seafood section and he was polite and sincerely sorry for the mistake. He said to just bring in the wrong item and we'll get the right item. At the register not only did they refund the wrong item but completely comped the other two lobster tails for our trouble along with a sincere 'Merry Christmas'. We love the store. Clean, well stocked with high quality items and fairly priced. Try some of the desserts...fantastic. Everyone is helpful and friendly. I've been going here for a while and the price is reasonable & quality good. Today, however...I met Dave. To say he's got a bad attitude is putting it mildly. And his employees in there seemed unhappy. I can only assume he's the cause. He's just down the road from me but I'd rather take my business to Jamison's. My one criticism today is the bathroom, which is accessible to the public in the front of the store. One of the bathrooms is absolutely filthy. There are feces all over the underside of the toilet. I love all of the holiday (Christmas) grab and go gift items that they have up front. I found so many stocking stuffers last minute. I enjoyed wandering around and looking at all of the goodies. The store was clean. Their regular grocery selections is minimal. Example: their bread selection is super small (but they had Dave's Killer Light Bread so I was good to go) and they didn't have any refrigerated or shelf-stable plain pineapple juice (only ginger-pineapple juice that was pricy). I really feel like they are more of a specialty food store than a regular grocery, but they are a great place to go if you need a housewarming gift or hostess gift. read more

Let me begin by saying, if I were rich I wouldn't shop anywhere else. But since at the present I'm not in that position, Walmart usually gets my business. I consider The Fresh Market to be a wonderful grocery store. It's well lit, clean, organized and great smells way throughout the store. They have beautiful flowers, a wide range of fruits and veggies, seafood, butcher, bakery, prepared foods section, and a selection of ethnic goods and spices that you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. Need pure essential oils? They got it. Looking for whole truffles? They got it. Sea scallops? They got it? Freshly ground almond butter? Of course, they got it. This is the first place I visit when I need a specialty product. However, when I visit, I know I'm going to pay for the ambiance, the variety...everything. In example, a half gallon of fresh squeezed orange juice is $6! On the flip side, their more hard-to-find spices are priced to sell. Tumeric at Wally World is $5 and at TFM, it's only $3.49. So, just be mindful of what you're looking for and the best place to get it price-wise. But if you want the full experience you MUST visit The Fresh Market. read more

It's alright. I rarely go deep out southwest off Jefferson, traffic is nuts, store gets nuts, busy is what I mean. They have some ok deals, but store seems a little off to me in some way. Maybe because I don't live out southwest and drive a shiny Mercedes and live in some big mansion off liberty mills or something. Maybe my kind don't belong so it feels a little off to me? It kills me that fort Wayne sells itself as so up and coming, but their most overpriced upscale market barely scratches the surface of what my old town (which was 1/4 the size) carried in the regular chain grocery stores. But if you're stuck in Fort Wayne, having ever lived anywhere outside NE IN, and want some actually good produce and healthier, nicer deli selection than you could ever find at Kroger or heaven help you Walmart, and you're willing to pay top dollar, it's a great store. You can find some good teas and spices you'd have to search for otherwise, nice chocolate, fancy snacks, etc. It's great--and expensive--for Fort Wayne. my husband and I just visited Ft Wayne because we are considering relocating there. We visited the fresh market and some others to check out what we would have access to for natural foods if we move there. we were happy with the produce department. The fish looked nice, the meat was questionable. It didn't seem to me that these were any sustainable/natural than you could get anywhere, but I could be wrong. my major problem was the MASSIVE amount of candy they have. The candy section is right in the middle and it really is gigantic. I have a daughter with food coloring sensitivity, so she can't really have most candy. The whole foods stores I go to offer their own candy that is free of artificial dyes. I didn't see anything that was like this, just tons of candy with dye. I don't see how I would be able to shop with her there because she would see all that candy and I wouldn't even have a dye free option to choose. I fail to see how HEALTH food store needs to have so much candy. They even sell those gigantic lollypops that you can see from a mile away. Most people seek out stores like this to avoid conventional foods that contain artificial colors and ingredients. Not sure what they are thinking. huge disappointment for me. I come here mainly to buy their fish and occasionally beef/chicken at their counters. Their fresh fish selection is the best I've found in Fort Wayne, and they frequently run attractive weekly specials. They have lots of options for wild-caught fish, including salmon, grouper, flounder, etc. Service is always friendly. I also sometimes buy their sushi as a quick day-of lunch, they are reasonably priced. Large, organic produce selection, but not the most competitively priced. I like this place because you get what you pay for. I know people complain about the price, but I don't think anyone hears about The Fresh Market, let alone walks into it, without knowing you're going to be paying a little more than you would at Walmart. That being said, what they offer is superb. I have never come into The Fresh Market and seen rotten produce, expired items, a sad selection of pre-made foods, etc. Everything is excellent. They offer a beautiful range of organic foods, sustainably caught fish, free range meats, gorgeous desserts, and about any kind of pre-chilled non-alcoholic beverage you could think of. They have a lot of specialty items in their dry / canned foods sections that you can't really find anywhere else in Fort Wayne. Their cheese selection, sushi and mini wine/beer "cellar" is also filled with great selections. I usually end up in here about twice a month to stock up on my chicken, fish and meat, although sometimes I come in more often for a beautiful bouquet of flowers or some sushi for lunch. If you can afford to splurge a little on your food, even a few times a month, The Fresh Market is 100% worth it. read more

This is one of Fort Wayne's only "health" grocery stores. It offers a fairly good selection, but is slightly overpriced for many regular brand items. However, due to the lack of competitors in the area that is probably not going to change soon. The Fresh Market is totally ridic, but also has pretty good produce and a few other things that one can't get at Scott's. This is also one of the only places in the state where one can buy Jeni's ice cream, aka the BEST ICE CREAM IN THE WORLD, which is the reason I visited -- but then realized that at $10.99 a pint, I couldn't afford it. They play classical music quite loudly and seem to cater largely to housewives in costume jewelry wearing capris from Chico's. Everything is more expensive than at Scott's. Their generic labels are rustic in design and feature not a trace of Spanish. I felt like an imposter there, but I bought things anyway. The trail mix was sad and underwhelming, but the generic beans with their rustic-design label seemed good. In terms of specialty vegetarian stuff, they didn't seem to have much more than Scott's. Overall this place is fine and closer to me than the co-op, but I'll probably go to the co-op unless I find a lot of money, in which case I'll return to the Fresh Market and buy a bunch of Jeni's ice cream. read more

I love Fresh Market in Fort Wayne more than Whole Foods in Los Angeles. In fact, i wouldn't even compare it to Whole Foods (which is supposed to be organic and caters to a variety of specialy diets like celiac disease). I would compare it more to Bristol Farms, which is an upscale specialty store of imported and luxury goods. Fresh Market is smaller than most FW grocery stores and you won't find the usual brands that Scott's & Kroger's carries. Here you will find an assortment of goods ranging from Italian Blood Orange sodas to smaller-company pastas, to phenomenal fresh cheeses. Actually, I'm not sure where you would go for fresh cheese in FW (and i'm talking fresh bleu, parmigiano reggiano, bufalo mozzarella--seriously) besides Fresh Market. Go here for the selection of fresh salumi (prosciutto, salami, bresaola...) olives, and unusual chips, breads, spreads and gifts that you won't find at Scotts. This is the PERFECT place to outfit your menu for a special occassion or for entertaining a small party. The entire store is set up like both a Charcuterie and Butcher, as well as a Pastry counter. (Note: the pastry cream on their fruit tarts is excellent!). It's great to pick up something unique for a food-lover or as a hostess gift. They have fresh flowers & arrangements, too. This is NOT a place you'll want to shop for a family. You won't find all the things you're used to pack lunches or make dinner in a hurry. It's a foodies paradise here in Fort Wayne. What I'd like to see is more sampling of their boxed items, which may market their smaller brands better. Given that their prices on these items aren't exactly cheap, it'd be nice to get a taste of it before laying down some pretty dollars only to be disappointed. Fresh Market has varieties I have never heard of, but am willing to try. Everthing is displayed appetizingly. They have a fish counter, meat counter, deli, dessert deli - YUM! Unfortunately, I seem to spend alot of money here - not so much that it is expensive (it is a little bit), but because everything looks soooo good that I have to buy it. I could spend hours looking at all the beautiful food. The only problem I see is that they are very limited in what they stock, so you probably could not do your whole week of shopping here. read more

I have shopped at The Fresh Market for the last several years when visiting my family in Fort Wayne Multiple times a year. I have always enjoyed the shopping experience and products until today. The store was very busy and the checkout lines were backed up except for one lane that had limited activity. I was motioned over to the more open lane which I originally appreciated. However as I approached the register associate, I was not happy being in that lane. The cashier was the only cashier in the store not wearing a mask, also had a bold political bracelet on and their name badge was turned over. First and foremost, with COVID raging in IN (especially in NE IN) there should not be anyone engaging with customers with no protections. Secondly, I did not expect a political bracelet to be proudly displayed and a name badge purposefully turned over. As a customer, I appreciate shopping where the political climate and beliefs are not expressed. This is not meant to be personal to the associate but to the management staff. I truly do not understand why you would ever have a staff member in an engaging position with customers like this cashier. It was over the top to me and unacceptable overall due to the lack of COVID safety precautions. Not only will I now avoid shopping at your store, so will the rest of my family that reside in the Aboite area. read more

We stopped here today to pick up some Lucini dressing, since it is the closest of the few places that carries it here in Ft. Wayne. Overall a nice store, with friendly staff. The produce all looked really fresh. Sale items were better priced than the local grocery stores, but the regular prices on most of it was higher. Granted, a lot of the produce looked tastier too... The fish at the fish counter looked good (tuna didn't look awesome, but everything else did). Lots of bulk food options: various candies, snack mixes, etc. You will find some of what they carry at Scotts and other grocery stores, just like you will find some mainstream name brands at The Fresh Market. However, I agree with other reviewers who say that they wouldn't do family grocery shopping here. I bought crab legs, took them home, unwrapped them, and there was an overwhelming smell of ammonia. They sold me bad crab legs. I did get my money back, but before packaging the legs for me, there was no way they could not have smelled at least a hint of ammonia. The produce may "look" nice, but it's not that fresh. Meh. I visited the cheese section x's 2, and was met with very rude sales people. I asked to taste a certain cheese I knew nothing about, and I was met with huffs and eye rolls, as though I was somehow inconveniencing them. For crying out loud, customer service is their job. I've had three experiences in the last month that let's me know I just shouldn't return. First, I bought prepared fish with a crusty coating. It was folded in half (it was a large piece). When I unwrapped it at home, I realized that the fish batter inside the fold was never cooked. The second concern was with meatloaf that was packaged with mashed potatoes and peas. I hit three pieces of gristle in the meatloaf, but I was most concerned when I found a light red piece of something about the size of an M n M. I thought it might be a piece of tomato, but I dug it out, and it snapped when I broke it. The break was clean and straight like a piece of plastic. Finally, I had the rotisserie chicken salad. In one pound, I found three small pieces of chicken bones. Food that price-y shouldn't have so many issues, right? read more

I am from Chicago and I have been in Fort Wayne for work since May. I have been looking for a great place to buy produce and groceries. So I turned to Yelp to help me. Almost everyone on here is saying how wonderful this place is. What I would like to know is did I go one the wrong day or something? Granted this place has some extremely nice people and what seems to be a great selection of meats and sea foo (I haven't cooked any of it yet but I am very hopeful that it Will taste great). But I really went for the produce and it was bad. I couldn't find one red grapefruit or peach that wasn't already starting to go rotten, the oranges looked very sad, you either got your choice of over ripe bananas or ones so green you will not be able to eat them for 5days or so. Shelves were empty by their prepackaged vegetables. I purchased some macadamia nuts (at some crazy high price) when I got home popped on in my mouth to my extreme disappointment they are old and stale. For the price I paid for them they should be so fresh you get the feeling they just got picked. They only had 2flavors of coffee creamer out the rest was empty. So needless to say I will not be going back for much here. Maybe the meats but if I find a store inFW that sells it all ans is yummy then they will not be seeing me again. This is one of the finest "food" stores in Fort Wayne--I recently had ordered deviled eggs for Father's Day, June 16, 2019 via telephone. When I arrived for pick-up, they were not ready. The manager immediately went back to the kitchen and had my eggs prepared. I waited no more than 10 minutes. I will always return to this Fresh Market and tell as many people as I know about the incredible service "mindset" of this location. read more
